Capt Lucas kept us on top of the fish and moved spots when bites "went cold". In addition to Halibut (x5), we hooked up on Dusky Rockfish (x2) and Cod (x2). While catching fish, we enjoyed passing Humpback whales and got lucky enough to see a small pod of Orca passing thro Our boys (12yo and 8yo) thoroughly enjoyed it; very interested in picking up a fishing pole when we get home. Although it was only supposed to be a 3.5hr fishing trip, our guides extended it to ~5hrs to insure we got the full experience.

My teenage son and I were only in Hoonah (a.k.a. - Icy Strait Point) for a day as a cruise ship stop. Eric did not waste time and we were on the water fishing post haste! We were going for salmon that day and Eric did not disappoint...we enjoyed our 1/2 day and landed 4 salmon (coho and pink). Eric drove us back to the ship and we worked-out the details for processing and shipping our catch back home. The morning after we returned from our vacation, a Fed Ex delivery with our cleaned and vac-packed salmon was delivered. Captain Eric be "Da Man"! What an amazing experience to have your own personal chartered boat in Icy Point Strait. It is…read moreworth every to have the opportunity to venture in any direction the wildlife might be. We weren't on the boat 10 minutes and saw various Bald Eagles. A few more minutes and there were two bears foraging on the shore line. Seth was able to bring the boat up close enough for a great vantage of these majestic creatures. We then continued to explore the ocean for humpback whales... and there were plenty! Numerous pods of these magical mammals surrounded us for about an hour. On our return of the voyage we passed sea otters and a group of sea lions lounging on a buoy! Captain Seth was a sheer delight to work with coordinating our trip. The images we captured will remain in our memories for a lifetime!

Our boat had a total of 6 people and there was plenty of room on the back of the boat for us all to fish. The captain and his mate (a golden retriever named Cyrus) were great. The captain in conjunction with their two other boats in the area did a great job keeping us on the fish. We had a blast and caught 15 halibut between the 3 of us and 31 total on the boat, the biggest being a 32" 15-16lb halibut that we sent home for a few nice dinners. The trip was great and would highly recommend these guys if you are in the area. Just be aware, the fish shipping company (an outside company) is quite expensive to ship fish back home, but they were extremely convenient to use and did provide great customer service.
