The service was ok but the prices were high for what it was. I don't know that I would come back to this place again. I was not a fan of the options we had chosen and we all felt the same way. Toks is a chain like Dennys or I-hop. It's a very safe bet. The prices are pretty much the same as back home $14 per meal average. *prices subject to change* I do love that have fresh juice so you can choose from carrots (zanahoria), orange (naranja), beets (betabel), apple (manzana), pineapple (piña), grapefruit (toronja), tomato(tomate), celery (apio), cactus (nopal), ginger (jengibre), turmeric (curcuma), mint (hierbabuena), pepino (cucumber), moras (blueberries), perejil (parsley). Usually love to order the carrots with orange. The pan dulce (sweet bread) is an absolute must and its sells out quickly. They make it in house. Definitely grab 7 concha's to go if you can! Their mole enchiladas are one of my favorite dishes and their green salsa chilaquiles with egg are really good the green salsa chilaquiles are acidic though so something to keep in mind. Located in a bustling shopping strip that's very nice to walk around and try the antojitos (snacks kiosks). Very good service every time. Servers are patient and friendly. The coffee is also not very strong for those wondering. They get pretty busy after 8am. And they offer a juice of the day after 1pm! read more

Okay Toks in Tijuana is like Denny's in California. A chain restaurant that just does enough to satisfy the hunger but not enough to write home about. What I liked was the service and cleanliness of the restaurant. The server we had was very friendly and suggested items she liked on the menu. I had the chicken soup which was good, a hibiscus mix iced tea which was very refreshing and milanesa tacos which was just too bready for me. My husband had the mole enchiladas which he enjoyed. the prices are reasonable however you have so many other awesome choices around that this place is more for convenience than anything else. If you are looking for somewhere where you can feel comfortable in place you don't know well than this is your place, otherwise I would say to venture elsewhere. read more

During our weekend in baja, we went shopping in Plaza Rio. After we found everything we were looking for, we decided to get some food at Toks. For those that have never travelled to Tijuana before, Toks is similar to Norm's. I had quite an appetite that day, so I decided to order their green chilaquiles, which also came with a generous amount of chicken. After what seemed like 20 minutes, we got our food. My plate was delicious, and a bit spicy, which is exactly what I expected. The other plate came out pretty good as well (check photos, please). The coffee was decent, three cups got me wired real good for the next several hours. The customer service was a bit slow that day, but there were a lot of people there that day, so that is excusable. The waitress and staff were friendly, and aside from the longer wait, the experience was great. If you're shopping in Plaza Rio, and crave a breakfast dish, give this place a shot. read more

By far my favorite Mexico-based chain restaurant with gourmet takes on favorites I can't find executed well just a few miles away in San Diego. Their sopa de tortilla is perfect--the light yet savory tomato broth is poured tableside so the tortilla strips stay wonderfully crunchy, You're given small cups of sour cream, avocado, dried chile, shredded cheese and chicharron so you can further customize the soup as you wish. The moles and salsas are all spot on with just the right amount of heat and flavor development to please my palate. Their "canoe-style" truffled french fries also have a delicious crunch and umami flavor that I crave. On my last visit I couldn't stop eating the tortillas bathed in warm salsa roja that came with hubs' lunch special steak plate. The rotating lunch specials are a good deal, including drink + choice of soup/rice/salad + generously garnished main dish + dessert for from $8-12 USD. Prices are generally quite reasonable for the quality, cleanliness and very good service offered. This is a chain, so of course you can find cheaper and more "authentic" regional Mexican dishes at other spots, but the food quality has been so reliable at the many locations I've visited throughout the country that I highly recommend this place (especially when compared to similar Mexican chains like Sanborns and VIPs, which I find not nearly as good and a bit pricier). This Toks is located in a large mall with plenty of parking and security. I feel lucky to be able to enjoy these delectable Mexican dishes, only a short drive across the border. read more

Here with my family. Party of 8. This place is just weird. The waitresses wear this weird pilgrim Dixie dress and a lace hat/bonnet. So that's cool. Anyway. They take your order and they do not bring anything to your table, including your drinks, until everything is ready. Even better, they COMPLETELY forgot my dinner. So I am just sitting here with my warm hibiscus juice watching everyone eat. Yay. Also, pretty sure they just microwave the food and bring it out. Such an odd spot. Chef's Specialty was cold. They were chicken enchiladas. We let them know and they did take the food back and made the dish again. It was a bit hotter, not as it should have been though. The taste was, simple, plain, bland. The looks of the restaurant are appealing. The waitress was attentive. But the food was not worth going back to ever again. This restaurant is clean, and food is amazing! Guest service is beyond expectations, if you like to eat Mexican food this is great start for breakfast. They have healthy options.
