    Black dragon sushi roll
    Kari G.

Food was delicious and seafood was very fresh and well cooked. We had the hibachi dinners of scallops and filet mignon as well as a sushi roll and it was fantastic. Server was nice and tried hard to accommodate us, he was sooo busy, they do need more servers. He had so many people to cover, he was just overwhelmed. However, he did a great job. The restaurant was set up well and was clean and had nice decor, nothing too fancy. Will definitely return again.

Great sushi place out here in Carlsbad. Staff is nice and the food is always ready super quick. The rolls are creative, flavorful, and have a great amount of fish. My favorite rolls are the Mizo and cowboy roll! The calamari wasn't very good and not crunchy. The spring rolls were pretty good. I would highly recommend trying this place out for their sushi.

Excellent service, excellent food, excellent entertainment! Clean restrooms and restaurant! We had steak, chicken combo hibachi and it was the best dining experience in Carlsbad we've had!!

10/10. It just gets busy but it's worth the wait. Young hostesses a bit rude and would ignore me but food is good . Maybe she just had a bad day.

Good stop for a quick bite to eat. I had a rill, the Pink Lady. A very large roll but okay tasting. Others in the party had noodles and rice from the hibachi. Chicken and veggie meals. All said, the food is tastey and recommend trying for a quick bite.

If you like a show while you eat then this is the only place in Carlsbad that you will get that. Good asian food. Steak, Shrimp, Chicken, Sushi.

Food was wonderful! We had the Philly Roll & Tuna Nigiri plus kid's chicken hibachi and steak & scallop hibachi. After a long day hiking through the caverns we were staved and we all inhaled the food. Just what we were wanting. One small hiccup with our server but after she walked away and we were left wondering if she was going to be helpful or not, she came back and was wonderfully pleasant and the rest of our experience was perfect.

This place is yummy. When they allow dine in, they've got a great hibachi experience. They're usually busy so get there early!

My husband was happy with his Szechwan chicken and I went for the vegan bowl. My vegan ramen bowl was good, but it needed more veggies and tofu and it lacked spice. Service was good and honestly in an area where a lot of food leans bland, this place stands out a bit. But here is where it lost me. It is not authentic and does not really try to be. My veggie egg rolls had that unmistakable frozen straight from the box vibe. One bite and yeah... confirmed. The hot tea came in a gas station style cup with a Walmart tea bag. It was big, sure, but not exactly restaurant level. Would I come back? If I was starving, yes. Otherwise I tried it once and I am good.

I should have looked more carefully at the menu, but I have never been to a less vegetarian friendly Mexican food place. I ordered a Paloma and it was the worst I have ever had. It tasted like it had no alcohol at all. The place is tiny, and then they had a band coming to play. It was vibrating the entire building. My teeth were rattling. The music itself would have been pleasant if it wasn't eardrum shattering. My husband liked his drink. The service was fine, although there was a communication barrier, I blame myself and not the waitress. I think that's about it. It was also not cheap like others are commenting. This was a big fat fail. Let me add - per my Apple Watch, the decibel level got up to 107 db, and 10+ mins over 95 can damage your hearing! I've been to plenty of places with live music, but never anything that incredibly loud. There were really young kids in there, too!

I really enjoyed a night out here with my parents for a unique meal in this small town. RATING BREAKDOWN Food: 4 | Service: 4.5 | Ambiance: 4 | Price: 4 PARKING Could be better. There is some on the north side right next to the restaurant or in the lot just across the street. There is minimal parking on the south side. It's a busy street so be careful. LOCATION/AMBIANCE This medium-sized venue is located on the south side of town with busy Dal Paso Street nearby. My dad refers to it as the ghetto. Some areas are rundown indeed and some outside work could be done, but it's okay. Inside, the high ceilings, flat screen TVs, Spanish music, and some oceanside vibes invite you to an open-style dining area. There was one lone restroom which I personally hate because sharing with other men is disgusting. It's well-lit inside. While we were there, a live 5-piece band came in to play about 8 songs. They never asked us gringos what we wanted to hear. Lol. THE GRUB Complimentary chips were decent, but not very salty. The first batch of salsa was mild. The second batch we received was a bit more smoky-flavored and had more of a chipotle essence to it. + michelada especial ($11) with Modelo - had bacon, cucumber, and shrimp too. So refreshing after a long day! + filete al olivo ($18) - "Basa swai fillet skillet cooked with olive oil, garlic, and chile de arbol served with rice and salad." I really enjoyed this because it came with three small flour tortillas - the perfect portion for me. But, the outer edges of the fish were a bit crispy and hard to cut into with my fork. That's the only silverware we were given was a fork each. + torre altata ($23) - this was a tower of all kinds of items: shrimp ceviche, cooked shrimp, lime juice-marinated shrimp, octopus, Mexican scallops, tuna, onion and cucumber in a red sauce and topped with avocado and chiltepin pepper. My dad said it was way too much for him, but it was good. + tacos de camaron ($14) - my mom devoured hers, not even bothering to let us try it so it must have been really good. I think it was three smaller tacos. LITTLE YELPER'S CLUB They had a nice little kid's menu, but my kids were elsewhere so I'm not sure how it fared. SERVICE Most of the employees spoke English, but were also bilingual in Spanish and all of them were friendly. They worked super fast to bus tables, get drink orders, and serve meals. MY FAVORITE PART... My michelada! NOT SO FAVORITE PART... The wait to get in on a Friday night. Why don't they use OpenTable?! Lol.

The ribeye was perfectly seared--juicy, tender, and full of rich flavor, cooked exactly as ordered.
