The 5-star reviews raving over Aquino's Deli in Carlsbad, NM, are true - it's such a gem! My girls and I wanted something different, so I entrusted in Yelp... At first the little gremlins weren't all that enthused about a deli. When we walked in and saw the menu, though, we all gravitated towards turkey items. OUR ORDER + My Way Turkey Melt = $11 + Kid's sandwich with turkey, cheese, lettuce, tomato, mayo & mustard = $6 + Combo (bag of chips and canned soda) = An additional $3.50 per person My youngest daughter and I really loved the My Way Turkey Melt. It's one of the more popular items probably due to the slight kick of the pepperjack cheese and jalapeño pesto. Our Italian-inspired sandwiches were prepared panini style which I love because the outside of the bread had a slight crunch, but everything inside remained tender and juicy. The lone restroom was clean. There was indoor and outdoor seating - something I adore about Carlsbad having lived in Southern California for so long. Service was awesome! Friendly and quick to prepare meals. Great option for lunch. I'd be here at least once per month if I lived in this town. Free, minimal parking on the south side of the building. If you're parking a larger vehicle or towing a trailer, you'll have to find a side street and walk there... or do the old drop your daughter or wife off so she can run in and get your order while dad drives around with the trailer. Lol. Them good ol' days. RATING BREAKDOWN Food: 5 | Service: 5 | Ambiance: 4 | Price: 4 TIP Several Door Dashers came in to pick up their orders while we were eating.

We stopped at Aquino's for lunch after visiting Carlsbad Caverns and goodness they did not disappoint! Their sandwiches and flat bread pizza (not pictured) were delicious! Makes me want to drive all the way to Carlsbad for another sandwich this is definitely a place you want to try while in town! Very friendly staff, delicious food, and great service!

Tasty!!! We stopped in for a pizza and weren't disappointed. The food quality was excellent, service was too! No problems parking or finding a table. Lots of drink choices! My son loved that they had a TV with funny home videos.

What a fun surprise to find amazing Italian food in the desert! The prosciutto and fig sandwich on focaccia was perfect, sweet and salty, full of flavor. The pepperoni pizza is piled high with delicious pepperoni. Don't skip the tiramisu! The staff were so friendly and kind!

This is sandwich is a focaccia sandwich with prosciutto, cheese, and a fig jelly. Creative and tasty.

Well, they didn't have turkey. But I'll give them a pass. The sandwiches were quite good. The toasted focaccia was the highlight of two of the sandwiches my group tried. While friend got pressed Panini style sandwich. The place had a nice outdoor area to dine in the back, although we did not get to use it, because we were in a rush. Which brings me to my only real gripe, which is that they were pretty slow on getting the sandwiches to us.

Great food and great service. Caprese: 8/10- loved the focaccia. Wished it was a little bigger Herbivore: 9/10- great combination of salty with the pesto and sweet with the tomatoes

Amazing! The food, the service, all of it! Best sandwiches and full of flavor. We had the godfather and pepperoni pizza. I would probably get it over and over again.

This hip cafe is located in downtown Artesia, NM near the Veteran's Memorial. The service was nice enough and very efficient in getting orders out. Lots of seating and I liked the lighting inside... not too bright, not too dim. They sure know how to make a good latte here. The Zia Latte ($5.90 for a 16 oz) consisted of "cayenne + cinnamon + cloves + cardamom + ginger + nutmeg + honey." It's so heartwarming and delicious. One of my favorite lattes in all of New Mexico! My daughter opted for a hot cocoa ($3.60 for 12 oz) and a house-made blueberry jam muffin ($3.80). I did not try the cocoa but she said it was "so good" and they made it to her liking, kid's temperature. The muffin was fantastic. Order at the counter. Pay. Take a number. She said to bring the chicken and come in for replacement but I told her that we'd already been settled at home. She then said to forget it (about bringing the DRY fried chicken...it looked like it was there from The day before and just sat in the heater bin) and to bring the receipt the following day to get the replacement. I come in. I see there's no fried chicken. Apparently they stop frying chicken at 6pm. Monica (the manager I spoke to last night) told the manager at the deli that she told me to bring in the chicken. You really think I'm going to save that chicken to bring it to prove that it was dry? I wasn't about to go through the dumpster just for that. Goodness gracious. What's $2.09? Guess it means more than keeping a customer. I Did not get an apology at all. Usually one would get an Oh I'm So sorry about that. I want to fix the problem. Bad customer service. I'll go to Kentucky fried chicken. At least I know the fried chicken is fresh. You should teach you kitchen people to put the older product in the back or on top of the new food so the older food gets sold then the newer on the bottom. I should have known better. The other night I was the guy out the newly fried chicken on top of the older chicken that was in the heating bin. Big no no

I also got the white chocolate strawberry scone. The scone came warmed , it was so good I should have gotten 2 of them. My iced drink was good, even with swapping out of white chocolate it was tasty but a bit on the sweet side. They also have milk alternatives, I got oatmilk. When we first entered the store (please note that there are cart wipes by the entrance, which is always nice), I was surprised to see a section at the entrance of different jars of salsa, a lot of which were made here in New Mexico. We also saw some boba milk tea and flavored coconut milk drinks with aloe (which are products of Thailand) and ended up purchasing a few. The drinks themselves are actually not too sweet and tasted pretty good. Pricing was ~ $1.29 per bottle, which wasn't bad of a price. The produce section (all the way to the right hand side if you are facing the back of the store) was small but had plenty of variety of both fruits and vegetables. We ended up purchasing cucumbers that were 2 for $1 since it was on sale. I liked the gourmet cheese section with the variety of cheeses available (which is right by the produce section). I also liked the wine and beer section, which was nice to see local beers and wines made here in New Mexico (which I ended up picking up a bottle of New Mexico made Moscato to celebrate my upcoming birthday). We ended up purchasing a few other items in the store, which pricing seemed to be fair for what they were. One thing that I do want to make mention is that we both thought it was kind of weird to see 2 (separate) people in the store shopping without wearing a mask. I know that an employee saw these people but did not bother to tell them (even though there is a sign by the entrance to inform customers that they are required to wear a mask before entering). But other than that, we had a good experience on this shopping trip and would definitely be a regular if we lived in this area.
