The miso soup was terrible, not so bad that I couldn't eat it, but really tasteless. At least it was hot. The salad dressing I thought was very good, but it was served with sad, plain iceberg lettuce. My hibachi chicken lunch was pretty decent even though the chicken was a bit tough. My family who ordered some sushi rolls said they were good. Overall I thought the food was hit or miss and that the prices were a bit high. read more

Honestly one of the better high end places in town. Considering it's in a restaurant and the atmosphere doesn't really scream upscale, the food was absolutely incredible. The ingredients were amazingly fresh, everything tasted superb, and the presentation and plating was very refreshing. I'm already looking forward to going back! read more

The food is fine but the service is weird. They dont seem to have assigned table for servers to wait in so four different people asked us for our drink order and they kept asking if we were ready to order as I was still actively reading the menu. If you want dessert good luck ordering it since the check is on the table before you finish eating. It always feels like they are trying to rush you out. read more

I have waited SO LONG for sushi in Pierre and Tokyo did NOT disappoint!! They have a dining area, an extra room for more dining, and also offer take out options. I was a little sad they didn't have an actual hibachi, but they do have hibachi items on the menu that are delicious. Everything was amazing! Especially the staff. Very helpful and sweet. Even on what I am sure was a crazy busy grand openning day! I can't wait to keep coming back! So nice to finally have a sushi place that's not hours away!! We will be regulars! read more

This place is great tasting! We were driving through from out of state and had a craving. We were pulling a trailer and since it's in the mall (with its own door outside of the mall for easy entry) we had plenty of parking. Top tier food by people who truly know the craft, culture, and service. The servers are great, aware of their tables, and on top of everything you need. The food is prepared at a bar that you can watch while you sip on Sake or Ramune, which is some bomb Japanese soda they have. Authentic plates, sauces, and chopsticks, the whole nine yards. The restaurant itself is supremely clean, warm environment and kind staff. Great food great service. Thought Sushi in Pierre, SD would be sketchy, but this place is awesome. Fresh fish, top notch presentation. Do yourself a favor and try them out. I'm giving this five stars because you don't find this quality in a small town. I came here by myself and sat at the bar. the staff was friendly and welcoming. The first thing noticed was how brightly lit the restaurant was which allowed me to see how super clean it was. Since I've never been here before I ordered my three regular maki rolls; spicy tuna, California, and a rainbow roll. The rolls were displayed very beautifully. I was surprised how fresh the fish was considering Pierre is in the middle of nowhere. The flavor was good. The California roll was made with fake crab but I figured that, it was still very good. I hope there is enough business for this establishment because it does not disappoint and when I'm back in Pierre I will frequent this restaurant since it's the most exotic and tasty place I've eaten at in this town of 15,000 people. I look forward to trying their other rolls and signature dishes like the spicy tuna pizza (sounds really good) in the future. read more

I came here on opening day, fully expecting it to be a mess. It was a very pleasant experience! I ordered 3 rolls to go, it was buy 2 get 1 free. I was provided hot tea while I waited (It was delicious and such a pleasant surprise!) . The restaurant is very clean, but it did just open today. It took about 20 minutes to get the rolls, but I was occupied reading the menu and talking to people as they came in to try it out. I loved all 3 of the rolls.
