First of all, this isn't a Japanese restaurant. I know they advertise themselves as a Japanese spot, but the food isn't Japanese. If authentic Japanese food is what you're looking for, I would probably go somewhere else. That's not to say that the food isn't good though. The food was surprisingly pleasant. As a person that grew up in japan... this isn't Japanese food at all . Yes there are Asians working there but I'm not sure what they are cooking. The food looks so nice in the pictures but it doesn't taste anything like it looks. Zero seasoning. Like ZERO! So disappointing because I enjoy local restaurants. I even yelped to find this one. The egg roll wasn't an egg roll. It was in spring roll casing and it has something other than cabbage inside of it. I honestly have no idea what was inside of that "egg roll". Our waitress was a sweet girl I give her 5 stars for customer service. But that's about it. I wouldn't go again and I wouldn't recommend anyone either. read more

Chicken and steak were both so chewy. The atmosphere smells like a nail salon. They also don't push orders out in order of who ordered first. Food was bland absolutely no seasoning. Broccoli, carrots and onions weren't seasoned or grilled in the hibachi order. People there have no clue to be out going. I'm not saying they were mean just saying they weren't nice either. I love their food! It has some amazing bowl's there. I'm always eating from this place. Their carrots are the best I've ever eaten. My go to for lunch is a shrimp bowl with just carrots. Very clean establishment that is located conveniently right off Rt95. Each table was neatly set and the floors looked so clean you could eat off them. Friendly waitress took our order promptly and the food came very quickly. I would love to give them a better rating but the food, although edible, was bland and unappetizing. read more

We stopped there on a long drive on 95. the restaurant was conveniently less than 5 min from 95. The food had a home cooked meal feel to it that we liked. The owner told us which food was actually vegetarian (no fish sauce/ chicken stock etc... in my experience, many if not most Asian places consider a dish vegetarian even if it has those as long as there are no pieces of meat). While in town for work ordered take out Steak&Shrimp Hibachi and an order of dumplings. When arriving to pick up the order the first impression is the cleanliness of the front of the house. This implicates a clean kitchen as well. The hostess was pleasant in her inquiries and knowledgeable of the menu. Upon arriving home and opening the take out, the box was bursting with delicious food. Seriously the box was stuffed full. The steak, which seemed to be sirloin, was cooked perfectly medium as ordered and the shrimps were medium sized, cooked well and seasoned deliciously. I would've given 5 stars but the dumplings, although steamed well, were not on par with my expectations. They were slightly overdone and lacked the signature zest of the dish. This place smells disgusting as soon as you walk in the door. The wait staff was sitting at the back on their phones when they greeted us coming in the door. We ordered 3 waters and my glass had things at the bottom you could see floating and when I picked the glass up a fortune cookie paper floated to the bottom. Struck out looking for decent food at South of the Border and so turned to Yelp to find lunch with my family. Tokyo is a little unassuming place in a strip mall off the highway. The food was pretty good and the prices were reasonable. We collectively had the vegetable noodles, fried rice, teriyaki salmon and teriyaki salmon and shrimp. As for the food, this was pretty subpar -- you'd really be better off going to the frozen section of the local grocery store and grabbing a microwaveable rice bowl than going to this restaurant. Not a bad little habachi restaurant for a rural location right off the interstate. Steak, chicken, shrimp, salmon and scallops are tasty and prices are great. Fast service during evening dinner time, ate here during a driving stop and spent no more time waiting for food than an average diner restaurant. For a road side stop it's much better than fast food. read more

Was driving from Atlanta to Raleigh and was craving Hibachi Shrimp and Scallops. This place popped up as a good choice, so, despite some reviews posted, I called and placed an order as I was 15 miles away. Lady on phone was very sweet, and made sure that I knew what location I was calling, and got my order spot on. I arrived and walked into a cozy and clean establishment with a smile on the workers faces. I was early, so I sat in the provided waiting area. Within 5 minutes, many people came and left with their to go orders all bagged nicely, and the hostess made sure to ask if you needed any extra sauces. (You get two large containers of white sauce with the hibachi, btw.) She checked me out quick and prompt, and I left. Sat down to eat, and this is the best hibachi I've had in years. Broccoli, zucchini, mushrooms, and carrots as veggies, plenty of seafood, and a bounty of rice. Perfectly cooked, everything. Steamed as it should be, and grilled to perfection. Give this place a try. For the price, you can't beat it. read more
