After reading the reviews, I picked up dinner for my employees from here. This is a popular place in Dillon and there were several people waiting on orders. I placed my order and took it back to my employees. The shrimp bowl is decent. The shrimp were overcooked and didn't have much flavor. The rice was good, as well as the white sauce. The steak bowl was better than the shrimp and had more flavor. The calamari took awhile to prepare and had no flavor at all. All in all, there is room for improvement but not a bad place. read more

Found this whole wall Japanese restaurant. Ordered the kids chicken bowl because it was cheaper and didn't really want a large meal late in the evening. Didn't want a lot of sauce so I ordered the hibachi. Well, it was fabulous. So good that I wish I had ordered the larger one. My teenage daughter actually ordered another bowl Togo because the food was so good. The restaurant seating is a little grimy; floor sticky. Staff were friendly. Just might stop again when traveling this way. read more

Craving sushi on the way home we looked this place up and decided to stop. From the moment we walked in the door we were a little weary of staying. It isn't your typical restaurant, upon entry you order at the counter then have a seat. When your food is ready they call it out, kind of like a burger joint. My daughter had the Teriyaki Chicken Bowl w/ Fried Rice and the flavor was good, the rice was a little over cooked though. My husband and I had sushi, California Rolls, Alaskan Rolls and Salmon Rolls. They took FOREVR to come out, but they only had one person doing the rolls. We decided to stop at exit 193 because we were hungry and were sick of drive thru. This little unassuming place is great. The teriyaki chicken was awesome and the rice was cooked perfect. We will be stopping again! read more

I am totally amazed at this little gem in Dillon, SC. My parents took me here after church today and although I was flustered from my own issues, the staff was very helpful and patient with me. I got the Hibachi chicken breast and it was loaded with veggies. Thanks a lot ladies! We WILL be back! read more

Avoid the sushi here. It is truly awful. I don't think they'd know sushi if I slapped them with a tuna. Like others, we saw this place advertised on I-95 and hopped off the interstate for lunch. Since another review stated that the sushi was good, despite the sketch factor, we decided to eat here anyway. Mistake! I can't speak for any of the kitchen items. Maybe they're great, but the sushi is not. We sat down right near the sushi bar and strangely enough hardly heard any chopping coming from the bar, where the chef was preparing the sushi. When we got the sushi, it was bad. Tons of rice on the outside and almost no fish on the inside. At about $5 a roll, it was a total ripoff. And my dad's Philly Roll was totally inedible -- the salmon was completely brown!! Nasty! We all left hungry. read more

Alittle surprise tucked away. Though its alittle tricky to find and from the outside it might not look like much but this place is neat and clean from the inside. The food was cooked great, everyone enjoyed their lunch. The bathrooms are clean and dont expect it to be an authentic Japanese, its not its more like those fast food joints. So if you nearby and driving on I 95, its right off the exit so you won't get delayed. read more

I reluctantly stopped at Helmi's and was totally pleased with the quality and quantity of food. We got a shrimp bowl, a chicken bowl and 4 sushi rolls. It was fresh and tasty. What a change from the typical road stop food! I would highly recommend it. read more

I happen to find this place by chance and if you are used to hibachi, this place looks nothing like it but the style of cooking the food in terms of the sauces and veggies used is basically the same. You order and then sit down at one of the tables (they have different sizes and styles but all nice wooden "family dinner" tables.) they call out your order when it's ready for you to pick it up. My mom got miso soup and the tofu was fried in it which was different. The broth isn't super salty. My steak was okay but my mom's was kind of tough. Christian really liked his chicken bowl. The people here are really nice. Even though we asked a million questions, they weren't exasperated or annoyed. read more

Such nice staff - extremely helpful. Unfortunately the food is completely subpar and true sushi connoisseurs will be pretty disappointed. Not only was the food not particularly flavorful, the different items I ordered all tasted oddly similar to one another. Finally, after many trips from DC to Hilton Head there is a decent place to stop for a meal convenient to 95. I have had record-breaking horrendously bad food off 95 in NC & SC but Helmi's hibachi food is so yummy! The scallops were delicious w/ rice & veggies, and yummy soy-ginger sauce, and a mayo based sauce (similar to a much pricier restaurant in DC area). We'll come back on the way home. read more
