We stopped coming here about 6 months after they opened because the service was very poor. It's been over a year and we tried again and I wish we hadn't. The hours posted online were incorrect, so we waited for about 20 mins for them to open. Upon the posted time, actually almost 10 mins after their posted time, they STILL weren't open. While the chef was cooking the rice, we told him it didn't taste good, and the attitude only got worse from there. We asked if vegetables could be placed on a child's plate separately, and he flat out said "no." We asked for napkins, and again, "no." The steak was overcooked, service was rude, and the entire experience felt uncomfortable and disrespectful. To make matters worse, when I spoke with the supposed manager about everything, instead of actually addressing the issues professionally, he rubbed on me and offered a free drink like that was supposed to fix the situation. I was a loyal customer at Tokyo. I went al least once a week (with old owners). The new owners has made some changes, however the service don't compare to the old services. They add 18% gratuity to ALL checks and the service is measured up to that amount. The last straw for me was when I saw the owner threw money on the floor to an elderly man who asked for his change. Then told him to get his @ss out before he called the police. NOTE: The elderly man was not rude at all. The server kept his change (without permission) claiming they didn't have any coins to give him his change. When I got there, I was really excited. I had Teriyaki Chicken and Shrimp with Fried Rice, and it was too good. The waiters even turned on a birthday song for me (it was my birthday!) and gave me Vanilla ice cream!. All the customers were telling me happy birthday to the point where I wanted to cry because it was so bittersweet. Their bathroom was a different story, though. It had water dripping onto the floor and I couldn't come up with no coherent reason why. But except for that, everything was great. Would definitely recommend it. I made it back! Always entertaining and a good experience. I was with a huge party for my Grandmother's birthday and they were very accommodating. The music was a vibe! Our chef put on a great show and the food was delicious as always! I used to come get sushi here 5 years ago. I recently came back after the renovations and I was not too happy. This would be my 3rd time here in the past 2-3 months. At first it was great, reasonably priced sushi (by the plate). Every time I came back it became worse. I will say I will not be returning! First they took forever to get to the table. Then they barely had any decent food on the conveyer belt. Idk if it's because it was on a Thursday but there were no good sushi's to choose from if it wasn't that, then everything was spicy. Secondly, the food instantly took my daughter to the restroom. At the restroom there was only one stall that was working. The bathroom was dirty, no paper towels, and hardly toilet paper in the stall. The toilet paper wasn't even in the dispenser. Lastly, there were women in the bathroom when a man tried to come In and clean the bathroom. He was told several times that there were still people in the bathroom and he still tried to proceed to come in. Overall, the hibachi experience was amazing. The food was cooked to perfection and the chef was quite entertaining. I will say that the salad appetizer and the soup was absolutely disgusting. The soup tasted like Maruchan Ramen out of the package from the grocery store and the salad with ginger dressing, tasted bland and somehow bitter. However, I do like the ambience of the restaurant as they play a lot of upbeat, hip-hop songs for what it seems like like celebrations or birthdays. The food was fine; our issue was the service and the forced gratuity. Our server took our order and brought one round of refills near the end of our visit, but never checked back to see how the food was or if we needed anything. This wasn't entirely his fault -- I observed him managing around six tables at once, which is far too many for an establishment that enforces a mandatory tip. Our check was about $92, and with the added gratuity it came to roughly $107. A 15% tip is reasonable when the service meets expectations, but in this case, the level of service did not justify it. If gratuity is mandatory, the service should consistently reflect that standard. I expressed my dissatisfaction with the service and the forced tip, and the manager was sent over. Rather than apologizing or attempting to address the issue, he explained that the gratuity is mandatory because people don't tip. While I understand that concern, it's difficult to expect tips when the service experience is like what we encountered. He then stated that he didn't care whether we returned or not. The place was a very busy and the first thing we noticed is that every table was pretty much full.. Next was the overwhelming heat . it almost felt as though there was no air condition on and with the heat of the tables it is rare that I am ever in the location, but there were several people that were sweating actually sitting at the tables. the waiter that took our order wasn't friendly at all. He didn't ask if there was an occasion we were celebrating didn't explain anything on the menu and this was our first visit and almost seemed impatient as we went over each item for our orders as though we were holding him up. From the time we placed our order, Chef actually came to the table to prepare our meal was over 45 mins! That was after we got our salads and they forgot our sushi appetizers. I actually had to get up and inquire from the manager what was taking so long. By this point, I was feeling slightly lightheaded because it was genuinely so hot that I had to flag down a waiter several times to bring more water. This was not a normal warm environment because of the tables it was excessive. Chef finally came out and started repair our meals. They were short on the meat and on two orders that we placed. Within five minutes of starting my meal I became extremely nauseous. we actually had to ask them to box everything up to go because I was so sick at my stomach. I did not want to sit at the table and embarrass myself. With the heat of restaurant that day, and I have no doubt in my mind that something on that table was spoiled . As they played the birthday song for each individual with flashing strobe lights and one annoying waiter, dancing around I couldn't wait until I made my way to the car . Management offered no concessions and practically ignored everything we were trying to tell them . It is clear to me that this is a very popular location and it was clearly very busy, but there is no way that I could give any positive recommendations regarding our experience at this restaurant and I truly hope that Management reads these reviews to make some improvements, especially as it pertains to their staff ! read more

Dolly is my new favorite friend that I don't know but I know because she works at Tokyo! I came in hot after a terrible day at work- hadn't eaten or even thought about myself. Dolly, Gu and Bok along with the rest of staff made me feel very welcome especially for a solo dinner. I was seated immediately and got my drinks pretty quickly thanks to Bok and his staff for assisting. Next came the ordering which was easy and came with one of the best recommendations from Dolly, that prince roll seriously MADE MY DAY!!! It was fresh, savory, naturally sweet and spicy. I'll start out with the atrocious service. 1. Our server drops a portion of our pork cutlet on the ground, and never offered to replace it. 2. Food would be randomly dropped off and no one ever came back to ask us if we needed anything or refilled water. I had to use a shot glass for soy sauce. 3. We had to even ask for a sushi menu and then by the end of our meal they never even brought our sushi out. Apparently our server forgot to put it in. We are so fed up. We just asked for the check. She never offered any apologies or compensation. Food was whatever. Everything tasted under season. Fried rice was laughable. We didn't even get half what we ordered. I orded the chicken, steak, lobster, veggies and rice. The chef came and started cooking the food. When it came close to the end I didn't get my lobster. Unpleasant Experience at New Tokyo Restaurant On Saturday, my daughter attended a friend's Sweet 16 celebration at New Tokyo. I decided to stay for the event since I've visited before and enjoy hibachi. The atmosphere was nice, the wait time was short, and the cook was entertaining though the food was just okay. Unfortunately, the experience took a turn when it was time to bring out the birthday cake. A waiter brought the cake that had been stored in the refrigerator, but the box was crushed on one side. When opened, it was clear the cake had been damaged. The waiter seemed unsure of what happened and apologized before calling over the owner, who introduced himself as Bak. While he admitted that someone on his staff had damaged the cake, his response was extremely unprofessional. He said, inappropriately, that "someone on my staff messed up," but refused to offer any form of compensation or even a sincere apology. Instead, he suggested giving the kids ice cream or the adults a shot of alcohol, which felt dismissive and disrespectful given the situation. When we declined, he became defensive and claimed we were lying about the cake's cost. The entire exchange was unnecessary and disappointing. The issue wasn't about the money it was about accountability and respect. Because of how poorly the situation was handled, I will not be returning to New Tokyo and cannot recommend it to others. read more

We love coming here!! The food is so delicious and full of flavor. The portion is extremely generous and we always have enough to take home for leftovers which is one of our favorite parts. People say the price went up but I lived in California and this price is actually super affordable. Out where i'm from, the price would be double or triple. On top of that you can tell the food is made with great ingredients, which makes sense why the price went up. The staff was also over and beyond kind, patient, and attentive. Elaine is my favorite staff at Tokyo. She is always smiling and warm when greeting her guests. It's always a treat to see her. Tokyo has been going through some upgrades. Extremely disappointed. PRICE CHANGE: I originally saw advertisements online for this establishment. I checked it out for the first time on 10/6/24. The sushi was alright. The raw fish was not high quality and a lot of times the desired items that we had our eyes on were taken from belt before arriving to our table. We accepted this and left content due to the conveyer belt experience, decent price and the fact that it was all that could be eaten. Today, one month later, 11/9/24 we returned. We confirmed price before being seated as we typically do. We were told that it is now $29.99 even for children under 10 years old (they are basing it now on height for children - no height chart in sight). We went on a Sunday a month ago and paid $19.95 a person at 2:48 pm (as our receipt was stamped). I kept receipt to find address for future reference. Now I am writing this as I am almost to another all you can eat sushi buffet and it is 1:28 pm. REASON FOR REVIEW: Informing others of price change. It's hot water and Maruchan ramen seasoning from the bag with a couple scallions for garnish. You can't put a bow on sh*t and says it cute! We opted for the conveyor, that thing doesn't go all the way around. I had to constantly get up to grab stuff off the conveyor. I wasn't impressed then I ordered stuff off the menu.
