In Observation my nursing care continued to be top notch (Sydney, Thane). Could not have had better nursing care. I had echo and doplar testing. My techs (Laney, Emma, Shakura) were professional and caring. Very friendly. I was at ease the whole time. When discharged, we got turned around in the hallway. I asked an employee walking into the hall we were in for directions. Not only did he tell us how to get where we are going (Chris, RN Leader) but he stayed with me until my husband got our vehicle and helped me in the car. He definitely went above and beyond for me. Absolutely wonderful care!!

She also really liked the food! (I saw it for myself and it looked amazing... not typical hospital food!!) The staff members were very caring and provided me with detailed feedback for times my family or I were unable to visit. The doctor on the floor was very flexible in his ability to visit and provide feedback on my mom's needs. My mom's discharge hasn't been as smooth as we 'd like, but we're glad she's home. We're now transitioning with the Ohioans Home Health, so that's a whole other review! Happy my mom's home! UPDATE: My mom received notification from BCBS Michigan that this hospital (St V's) will no longer be included in her network (Really?!!!) but that they would cover her expenses this time.(Thank God for that!) . What is going on with healthcare these days?!! Rant over, but really?!

If you are unfamiliar with hospital food you may want to reconsider your preconceived notions. These whipped potatoes are very similar to mashed potatoes in that may have originated as a potato and serve delightfully as a no frills substitute, trust me you will wish you had more or something else. The Pot roast is very consistently cooked and brown and serves a a fat free protein that complements the whipped potatoes. With a bit a brown gravy you will have a beautiful rainbow of earth tones for your taste buds. To continue with our brown theme and also saving the best for last, I suggest dipping a chocolate chip cookie into the what has now become soft serve ice cream, it will soften up the cookie and create something like an MRE ice cream sandwich. When I arrived for my procedure I was VERY apprehensive but I knew I needed to get through it. Everyone was very helpful, my nurse was very patient and encouraging as was my anesthesiologist. I appreciated that Dr Zack was running ontime, he explained information clearly and easily to my husband and I and was very reassuring before and after the procedure. The staff's calmness, humor and patience really helped. It was a nice touch to receive a follow up call the next day to see how I was doing and if I had any questions or concerns. Multiple doctors are housed here, including folks for weight loss surgery, vascular surgeons, and many more specialists. Parking is decent but sometimes it can be hard to find a spot. Valet parking is $4 or free if you have a handicapped sign in your car. There are wheelchairs right inside the entrance that a valet can bring you, or you can bring your own. Upon entering, check in by the first floor entrance. Then they will send you to your actual appt and you'll check in again.

I was also there almost daily visiting. Almost all of the nurses were extremely wonderful (specifically McKenzie), except for Debra (African-American/40s) who was rude, lazy, had no bedside manner, and just didn't want to do anything. Dr. DiBardino and his staff were wonderful. Because he was the only surgeon, he was busy, but I felt he took the time to explain things. I have to assume dietary is short-staffed. They messed up quite a bit. They came during lunch time to take the lunch order. They frequently forgot items or brought the wrong thing. They also made a big deal out of changing orders. However, Liz danced her way into rooms and was just a genuine pleasure to see in the hospital. I have to assume housekeeping is also short-staffed. Housekeeping was practically non-existent on the weekends, I saw one woman one time. My mom's room had no paper towels, so I searched the visitor's bathroom, which was also empty. I asked a staff member if she had any and the entire floor happened to be out. They left the toilet brush on my mom's sink. The garbage had been full since Thursday and wasn't taken until Sunday. Basically, they didn't really come around and when they did, they didn't do much. The medication list wasn't filled out when she was discharged, so she had to call back later to verify what they had given her and when; the woman who answered said this wasn't the first time the discharge papers weren't filled out for patients. A minor inconvenience, but it should have been done. The coffee shop when you first walked in was always closed because of staffing issues. I had to go across the road for coffee and food, but that shop too, had one employee handling everything because of staffing issues, so there was a bit of a wait. TL:DR: Good: NURSES!!! (EXCLUDING DEBRA) Bad: Housekeeping, Dietary (EXCLUDING LIZ), Coffee Shop

Made sure to let us know we were cutting it close to pharmacy closing hours and made sure we had a paper copy of the prescription just in case it lagged in the pharmacy system to ensure we got what we needed that same night. We have been here a number of times now, and it is always the best experience. I called prior to our visit to ask about out copay and was audibly concerned and stressed, and the receptionist reminded me to take a deep breath, and let us know they'd get us taken care of before we even stepped foot in the door. If you're a local, this is the place to go for non emergency medical needs, 10/10.
