I was in luck and found a great variety of indoor and outdoor plants, including a rare variation too (white princess philo)! The atmosphere was calm and clean, just what I want in a garden. Matt helped me pick out some plants to suit different people's needs (i.e. whether someone was just getting into gardening, what's easier to keep alive, etc). He was very knowledgeable and super helpful. So excited to give these out as gifts and will definitely be coming back to shop for myself! Would recommend.

Well, where to start? The location is fantastic just north of Upland and across the street from the…read moreshopping centers. I had always glanced over this location, and on this day happened to be in the market for some soil. The lot was thriving, not too crowded. People were looking about and soon a staff member took the time to show me some of their soil options and potting mixes. I settled on the organic palm and cactus mix. It was not dry upon opening, which I'm glad it was not, so far it's proving to be a fairly good quality. There's still some leftover in the yard. I saw many plants there. They had some pink aloe vera, along with a wide selection of succulents, which was nice to see. I had my eye set on something a little bit different though, an elephant bush. I knew they had some because some of the arrangements included elephant bush. So I just had to ask!Well, to my surprise they were more than happy to give me a longer tour of the southern part of the nursery, where they had far more sizes, big and small. I got to see some gigantic ones that I never expected to encounter in larger pots. Thank you Vic! It goes without saying I was impressed. Speaking about Vic, I just wanna say, many of the staff members were welcoming and went above and beyond to give me what I wanted. I was really impressed with Vic's extensive knowledge on house plants and his ability to help me find the size of this wonderful plant. Where I feel that most sales people would push you to buy a particular one item, Vic offered me choices, which I appreciate 100%. It's safe to say that type of salesmanship demands respect, and I will probably be coming back when I'm ready. Outside of my own personal experience, I noticed they have a variety of pots and fertilizers for all your growing needs. Always nice to see an assortment of pots and accessories for the home garden folk. Furthermore, Vic recommended a fantastic product as an addition to my watering routine, which within days has brought tremendous results. The plants absolutely love it, it amazing to think that this trip offered the plant, the service, and now the reassurance that if ever needed, they will be there to help answering any questions. That's all folks. If you have a problem with your project, there is no doubt they have the personnel to assist. Was a quick trip for me, but be prepared for an assortment of plant species and offerings.

It's unfortunate that I need to update my review and take a couple stars away. This is kind of long…read moreoverdue. I know it's getting harder and harder to get good help or even qualified help for that matter. The last couple times I have been in the employees really are not very helpful. When you have a question about a plant, they don't really take the time to explain it or give you alternatives. That again today happened in a large way. I was looking for a particular fruit tree with a certain root stock that would work in my soil. I called and asked if they had the particular type of tree and wasn't on the root stock I was looking for? The guy told me I don't know. I said do you know what route stocks you have. His response was if you want to know what rootstocks we have and what trees are available. You need to come down here and look. To say I was shocked would be an understatement. So I looked up another nursery called and asked the gentleman there. He told me he wasn't sure if they had that root stock for that particular tree, but he would check if I could hold on a minute or two because it was in their other location across the street. He came back in about a minute and a half and told me they did have the tree not only in my root stock, but two others. He then went on to even ask why are you looking for that particular rootstock? I told him and he said OK that's a good rootstock for that but here is a better one that will take care of that issue for you in the long run. I thanked him and drove 28 minutes to their nursery so I can get outstanding service rather than going to Sunshine growers which is 15 minutes from my house. I will not be going to Sunshine growers again. I found a new place that really is focused on the customer.

They gave me great advice on choosing a tree and how to take care of it afterwards. It was definitely pricey but considering how difficult it is to find lychee, I am satisfied. So far, the tree is doing well and I am hopeful it will thrive. I will come here to purchase more exotic fruit trees.

I ordered a Blenheim apricot tree and a Parfianka pomegranate tree (both advertised as 15-gallon)…read morefrom C&J Gardening Center. The apricot tree was acceptable and consistent with what you would expect for a 15-gallon size. The pomegranate tree, however, was completely unacceptable. It was significantly smaller--about half the size of the apricot--and clearly not representative of a true 15-gallon tree. This is misleading and does not match what was advertised. My guess is that it was just transferred to 15 gallon pot to up charge. When I contacted customer service, instead of resolving the issue, I was told I would have to pay for return shipping and a restocking fee. Charging a customer additional fees to correct a seller's mistake is unreasonable and reflects very poor customer service. I only kept the tree because returning it would have cost me even more money. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience. I would not recommend ordering from C&J Gardening Center unless you are willing to risk receiving undersized plants with no fair resolution. Update after response from C&J Gardening: Thank you Shanny W. for your response. I understand the difference between a tree and a shrub; however, my concern is not about growth habit--it is about the actual size and value of what was delivered. Both plants were sold as 15-gallon, and customers reasonably expect comparable maturity and development for that container size. The pomegranate I received was significantly underdeveloped and disproportionately small, even accounting for it being a shrub. It did not reflect what most buyers would expect from a 15-gallon plant. To make this clear for other customers, I have included a photo of the pomegranate tree with my review. The size difference is obvious and speaks for itself. More importantly, the issue was not properly addressed. Instead of offering a fair resolution, I was told I would have to pay for return shipping and a restocking fee for a product that did not meet reasonable expectations. That is the main concern. Clear labeling as "tree" or "shrub" does not justify sending an underdeveloped plant in a large container. I hope you take this feedback seriously and improve both product consistency and how customer concerns are handled.
