Made the mistake of coming to Tolly Ho. This place used to be great, cheap, fast, with a staff that clearly valued the jobs they did. It is simply not the same place. So Tolly Ho. A dilapidated past its prime college restaurant that serves mostly people who accidentally walked in. The food is....okay. The fries aren't good. The burger was super boring. The biscuits and gravy looked pretty scary but looked alright. The coffee was awful. Cleanliness isn't great. Service is rather deadpan. I vowed to not come back after the first time because nothing tasted very good and I spent way too much in it, but then it was the only late night restaurant open in Lexington for awhile. I was visiting the area with a friend, and we wanted to eat somewhere popular with the locals. From reviews and various sites, it seemed like this was a good choice for burgers, fries and shakes, so we decided to give it a try. I ordered a super-ho with habanero cheese and bacon, jalapenos and cheesy tots, along with a nutella shake. My friend got the small burger and fries. The super-ho was a nice big burger with plenty of meat, the cheese tasted great and the burger had a nice flavor to it. They also used nice big pieces of bacon, I was very impressed. The cheesy tots were cheese stuffed and not cheese covered and were pretty good. The fries could have used some seasoning, but other than that they were good fries. The food came out quickly, the people at the counter were friendly and it was a nice place. Over medium: The egg is flipped and the yolk is only slightly runny. Over well: The egg is flipped and the yolk is cooked hard. I've loved the 'Ho since my college days. For me, I know what to expect from the place every time I go. It may well be busy, so expect that; esp. post-games. I also know what I like best that they make there, so I have my go-to choices (Country Fried Ho, breakfast, THC burger, huge side portions). This time I went in for a bacon cheeseburger and got what I was hoping for- a delicious burger that was a good value for my money. The burger patty was 1/3 lb., and the onion ring paired with the crispy bacon made for a damn fine burger. It was fairly busy, but my order still too less than ten minutes to be called. My table was in the back, which is usually very quiet, unless someone is playing a video game. That's not a problem for me, as I know that's why those games are there. Had been to this establishment a while back. However, after my accomplice declared that the burger was "too greasy" I had to give it another go for myself. Lo and behold his opinion is completely fallacious. This fine dining establishment, while high in price, offers a perfect balance of quantity and quality. I ordered a double cheeseburger, which came out in about 7 minutes, and it was plenty enough to fill me up (that's what she said)! Overall, the service, quality, ambiance, and most importantly, food, was flat out terrific. I usually don't leave the Hamburg area for dinner but this week I'm going to expand my horizons. Today I tried the Tally Ho Hungover Ho hamburger. To be honest, I was not very impressed. The burger was huge and was very filling but it just had to much on it. I believe that the hash browns was a bit over the top and actually took away from the taste of the burger. The cinnamon chipotle sauce was good but it covered up by all the other items. I also liked the egg. Overall the burger was only so so but I did leave with a full stomach. Just a heads up. Tally Ho does not give free refills which is a huge disappointment. I also shared a side of French fries and onion rings. There were just average and really nothing special. Can we say awesome late-night place!?!? It was well after 1p and we came into Tolly-Ho ready for some greasy food and milkshakes. My friends, who live in Lex, recommended this place after a night of dancing at Soundbar! We came in, waited in a short line and ordered tons of food! It seemed like forever (cause we were so hungry!) but the food came hot and we were ready to dig in. The cheese tots, be warned, are not your normal tater tots. The cheese is inside and doesn't look like a frozen tot- they seem homemade?? The fries were crispy and dredged in bright orange cheese sauce, tasted like heaven. I originally discovered Tolly-Ho in my college days. They were open late and a great place to go for a late-night craving. I haven't visited as often since those days, but they are still well known for great burgers and breakfast. On our most recent visit, when we arrived there were not many dining but there were seven or eight dirty tables. I located a clean one and staked my claim. When our friends arrived we placed our order for an omelette (the hubby), a burger (me) and some onion rings and cheese tots (which I wanted to try since I had read Yelp reviews saying they were great). My husband loved his breakfast. My burger was okay, but not as good as I remembered, and I was not a fan of the cheese tots, which were mostly left behind. The cheese whiz-type sauce did not appeal to me. Since we do have fond college memories of this popular hangout (in their old location), I am sure we will give it another try, and I hope to find the food and service are more like I remember. read more

You probably wouldn't want to go here if you hadn't lived in Lexington your whole life, but if you have, then you know that after midnight you are likely to see people you know trying to scarf down greasy food and an Ale-8 after a night of drinking. The burgers are thick and greasy with thousand Island and onions on them. Crinkle fries are especially good with chili and cheese and maybe jalapenos if you wanna really suffer later. My friends and I went to Tolly-Ho for dinner on 8/28 around 6-7pm. We had a terrible experience and will NEVER be coming back. I'm writing this review as a warning. The man who took our order needs to lose his job, he is not fit to interact with other human beings. He flipped off my sister, swore at us (using the f word), and made my sister run out the restaurant sobbing. Later, when I picked up our food from him, he repeatedly asked me if my sister suffers from any mental disorders and if she takes any medication for them (specifically, he wanted to know if she was on xanax). This is completely inappropriate for ANY service worker to ask a customer. DO NOT go here. Top rating because I love the Ho, the food is tasty, and they're open 24 hours. Burgers, chicken, fries, tots, breakfast, and tons more. The combinations are quite massive. I typically get a burger - single if I'm not too hungry, double if I am quite hungry - and fries, sometimes with cheese, bacon, jalapeños or whatever I'm craving at the moment. Once you order, you sit and wait a few moments until the food is prepared. Then, you pay and pick it up. Remember to tell them if it's your first time visiting. They'll make sure to take care of you right. While you're there, you can pick up some Ho items, play an arcade video game, or some touchscreen video crack (as I call it). They're basically games that you can pay for and play. It's a great time waster. Anyway, give it a try sometime if you're in the mood for a decent greasy spoon kinda place. This is a great diner/dive located right off UK campus. They have great burgers and fries and to be honest, that is the only thing I have ever ordered from here. I can't make myself get anything else. I mean its just that good. Please note they are a 24/7 kind of place. That being said...A lot of shall we say possibly intoxicated people stop in here to sober up after a long night of drinking. So the place can get pretty loud with a lot of drunks packing in to have a fourth meal or a cure their hangover meal before bed. The staff are great and it is always pretty tidy. I paid Tolly-Ho a long overdue visit after their relocation to its new location 7 yrs ago. Due to the constant flux of new UK students & their families there was a frequent acknowledgement of "Ho Virgins" or first time customers shouted out at the order counter. My order was was taken by a pleasant young woman who answered any questions I had regarding my choice. I ordered the Everything Omelette which contained mushrooms, sausage, cheese, peppers & onions. The omelette arrived with a side of toast & coffee. The omelette was not as fluffy as would have liked but good nonetheless. You can order any item on the menu anytime of the day so that omelette can be yours either for brunch (like me)or at 2:00am after a night out. Needed a family friendly place to hold a baby shower without breaking the bank. With Covid- it was almost impossible! Tolly-ho to the rescue! Super easy and fast! Their back room was perfect! Well this one breaks my heart... we decided to visit here after a long absence just due to not being around the area. This place is not like it used to be, a lot of things have gone from the dining room, and the menu. But it was not busy, 5 already served and 2 waiting on food. We waited for almost 20 minutes for our food and there were 6 more that walked in after us. When we got our food it was cold and not as ordered, one was supposed to be no egg and the other no cheese. A great local place that is open 24 hours. The inside has plenty of seating and you can even order online or over the phone with curbside pickup available. They also have a small area to buy tobacco/vape products and also serve alcohol. The two burgers I ordered were better than you can get at McDonald's plus it is local. The regular hamburger was tasty and the country fried ho was even better. The epic fry and epic hash browns were a different story. The hash browns were not browned at all but overall still had a good taste but could be amazing if cooked crispy. The epic fry had too much chili and too little cheese but still was decent. The coleslaw was a pleasant surprise in how good it tasted but not worth the 2.39 for a small side. Overall, there aren't many choices after 2am that aren't fast food in Lexington plus it is local, and I can definitely recommend giving it a go. read more

Open 24 hours, so if you find yourself at Denny's/IHOP/Awful House in the wee hours of the night, then you were just too lazy to drive there or don't own a car. Everything is cooked to order and the lines can get long, but it's worth the wait, trust me! I'm not sure where to even begin. After waiting behind one person to order, it took 10 minutes to be waited on. Once our order was placed it took 35 minutes for our food to come out. We ordered two burgers, one fry and one mushroom, a milkshake and a soft drink. They prepared the milkshake as soon as we ordered it and let it sit. When we received our food they gave us the shake and it was nothing but warm milk with half a banana that had not been blended. The burgers and fries were cold. Cheese was not even melted. The only thing that was warm was the mushrooms that we had to wait an additional 5 minutes for after our 35 minute wait for the other food. Burgers would have been great if they were warm.
