Can't even begin to explain how much I love this park. Wide grassy lawns, historic open barns, a stunning suspension bridge, river access, trails. It truly has everything and is completely beautiful. There is tons of parking and it usually isn't too busy. They have yurts, tent camping, and drive in camping. All gorgeous spots. There are 3-4 amazing river access spots. The river has deep spots, shallow, fast, and slow, making it perfect for any speed of swimmer to hang out. There are usually people in floaties and on paddle boards enjoying the area. The view from the suspension bridge that connects the two sections of the park is stunning. It reminds me how much beauty Washington has and gets me choked up just thinking about it. There are endless cool trails to explore, all leading to fun little adventures and scenic views. This is the perfect park to just spend a day getting lost in nature, swimming, having a picnic, or having a leisurely campout. read more

This park has everything in it. You come to camp and you get to cross the bridge to place your tent or glamour in one of the cabina which by the way, have very good size for a small family. Or you can come with your car or truck and stay on one of the spots at the beginning. Either way you'll have quick access to the Snoqualmie River with splendid view. You can also fish and have a good time with your kids in this small beach. When you cross the bridge be mindful for other people coming the other way or behind you. There is a sign that you must have some feet in between groups. You'll get to the trail which is at your right. Watch out for bears with cubs. It is a nice trail with pepples at the beginning. Not a good idea for strollers but still can have a great time at the lawn. Easy parking near the baseball field. Good way to spend family time on a weekend. read more

Man oh man how am I just now discovering this nature hideaway?! I am lusting over this gorgeous space, trails, and nature eye candy! My husband recommended venturing to this local spot as a nice nature retreat for ourselves, versus having to commit to driving, fighting for a parking spot, and hiking on some crowded trail. I must say, we nailed it. There is ample parking. Porter potties on site, and everything is well maintained. You certainly can catch some gorgeous Mountain View's, well maintained trails, and a nice country drive to and fro. This looks like a fairly safe and gorgeous camping spot for families and a really beautiful and picturesque barn, used as a venue site for weddings and music festivals I found out, how neat! Yurts are available for those not too keen with car camping and I would really like to check those out- maybe on my next review. read more

Tolt-MacDonald Park & Campground - Parks Near Me - Carnation, Washington

What a great, little escape from the hustle and bustle in Carnation. While in the area on a sunny day, we wanted to find a park to walk around in and found Tolt-MacDonald Park & Campground, right in the business center of Carnation. I had no idea this park was here before, and didn't realize this was a campground. That would be fun! We did see the yurts they had on the grounds, as well as the showers and bathrooms for campers. It's definitely a quiet spot for it. To enter the park you cross a suspension bridge, that looms over the Snoqualmie River. On the other side, you spot the yurts and easily see trails that you can walk along. We decided to walk along the Cottonwood Trail, which was an easy hike. There is only one small area of incline, as the trail loops around to where the yurts are. The trail is mostly gravel/rocky. I loved seeing all the trees, especially those covered in moss, which made for a nice setting. If you're looking for a nice stroll in Carnation, then Tolt-MacDonald will have you covered. read more

You can camp here with a tent or an RV. Plus across the walking bridge on the other side of the river you can stay in a Yurt. Another beautiful little gem for families on the Eastside. I came out here today to check out the campground for a small group gathering and mother-daughter camping trip. Really sweet area - "beach" for playing by the river, picnic areas, and a variety of camping options. Also some sweet picnic spaces for day use. Small circuit of drive up tent sites and RV sites - but in all honesty, if you're willing to carry gear across the bridge to walk-in campsites, it's completely worth the trouble. The tent sites are much more private, there's more space between sites - and more options in general. The park provides wheel barrows for moving stuff and the trails are not very steep and well maintained. Yurts and cabins: look cute ... Not my thing but maybe yours? Small group amphitheater: pretty sloped ground. Not wonderful for tenting - especially with multiple tents, but cute set up. Lots of shade. Large group campsite is Beautiful. Large picnic shelter, lots of tables. Large stone fire pit and plenty of space for tents. If you have a group that is happy to make a short walk, this is your place. And the smaller tent walk ins are very sweet! They are well marked and maintained, like a state park, but you happen to walk to them Lots of trees and privacy but if there was a large group at the large group site, youre close enough to hear them. read more

Hidden gem playground and beautiful sports fields. I've never actually seen the park before as I thought it was just the riverfront you could see from the road, but it's set back from the main road and very quiet and peaceful. The barn is gorgeous and I could see large group picnics, weddings, reunions and parties taking place here. Worth a visit! read more

Cool beautiful place to come, we came in April and we enjoyed every minute. We camped here for 1 night and family did 3 nights. There's a gorgeous river where you can bring your float boat and enjoy a nice camp ground. They have nice bathrooms and shower stall. I'm not a big fan of tubbing but it was so fun that I got hooked pretty fast. Anyways have fun and roast them marshmallows! read more

Mountain Biking Review: Pretty scenery and a good ride up the hill, but MAN the trails were very hard to find. We found one that was fun but it took us back to the bottom of this big hill we had to then climb again..that was a disappointment. As far as finding any other trails, we couldn't. We found one that looked like it used to be a trail, but it was massively overgrown. Don't think I'd give this place another chance for biking. As far as the park's beauty, though, it is definitely there. They have a beautiful bridge that crosses the river and then a bunch of cabins for camping. I think I'd only come pack here to relax or for a picnic. read more

My new, favorite close-to-home place to camp!!! My husband and I tried coming here last year with the RV, but it was full. We took a chance coming here during what was supposed to be a really nice and sunny weekend, expecting it to be full, BUT IT WASN'T! We got an RV spot, but we were just in a tent... It was $30/night for the RV spot. It was a decent sized spot. And the trees/bushes surrounding the campsite made it a little more private and separated from your neighbors. There is a firepit and water spiggot there as well. And hook ups if you have an RV. We paid $10 extra and got wood, which they deliver to your site. :) The bathroom facilities were right across from us, which was convenient, and really clean. There is one shower stall with hot hot water! It was so nice taking a hot shower after swimming in the river. Definitely not roughing it at all out here ;) There is access to the river right near the bathrooms and close to our campsite. Nice spot to hang out during the day. There are also yurts and group camping spots across the bridge, but those were all taken and I'm not sure how I feel about lugging all our gear back and forth across the bridge to get there, but maybe one day. Anyway, it is such a nice park/camp ground and very well maintained. I love this place! read more

I took both my Girl Scout troops here for camping in the yurts. The yurts are fairly new and comfy and plenty big enough to sleep 7. I took a little day trip there before taking the girls and the river was very swollen due to the rain and the runoff from the mountains, but when I took my older girl group at the end of June the river had thinned enough to allow for us to go wading. The heat in the yurts was nice for my little girls (1st grade) because even though we camped in June, it was pretty cold and rainy that weekend. Although a few of the girls were scared of the bridge (it is HIGH and it can sway a bit), by the end of our weekend, they were fine with it. The camp hosts have wagons to help you carry your gear across the bridge. The facilities on the yurt side (across the bridge) are just pit toilets but they didn't stink at all (even the 2nd time I went and it was hot outside) and were regularly cleaned out. There are showers and flush toilets on the other side. We did have a bit of a hard time finding hiking trails, all the trails seemed to be more bike oriented and they were very steep. With the bigger girls (4 - 6 grade) we were there a day longer and we got to do more around Carnation. We went over to Remlinger Farms and berry picked. We waded in the river. Both groups had a really good time and even though you're close to a town, you feel like you're out far. It was nice to be so close to a town, though, in case you forgot things or needed more firewood or whatever. The camp hosts were super nice too! read more

Great local park, never been camping there but would definitely give it a try. The mountain bike trails are great but are easy to get lost on --- so go with a group! (Try bbtc.org). And you will have to go up a pretty steep hill first (IAB, figure it out...) Nice river, nice environment, and you can never have too many parks! read more

We have an annual family camping trip here every summer. This is a fantastic place to camp! The sites are well maintained, there is a host on site if you need help with anything (he even delivered firewood to us) and it's a beautiful location. It's dog friendly, the river is a short walk, bathrooms are clean, showers available! This past summer we set up a badminton net for the kids in the huge grass area and it was a big hit! I've never camped on the other side of the bridge where the yurts are, but it's always packed. Lots of trails to walk and explore. Just a great family camping spot! We took our dogs here last weekend for a walk and I was surprised at how many people were camping in the cold weather! The sites do have power hookups for RV's, so I guess that would make "camping" in the fall a little more survivable. read more

My favorite campsite and park by far! I love this place, not too far from my home in Edmonds but the setting of it makes me feel like I'm in the wilderness. I've camped here for two birthdays 19th and 21st and loved both times. For my 19th I tent camped and for my 21st I stayed in the camping container (train car). It's set up so nicely and it makes the stay very comfortable and it's extremely affordable. I love how close it is to the river and the suspension bridge is awesome. I love going on night hikes and I'm sure biking or 4-wheeling would be a blast! read more

Excellent trails which are dog friendly. We love this place, haven't camped here yet, however, hit the trails several times a month. The views of the river are fantastic and the overall length of the trail system is endless. We like to park and head towards the suspension bridge and turn around on the opposite side of the river. Camped here for two nights. We were going to a concert at Chateau St. Michelle, which was a half hour drive. The rate is reasonable for the use of power and water. The RV campsites are good size and all pull through. My only complaint was lack of trees in the campground, but we were on the wrong side. There is a big open field in the center of the grounds and all the campsites are on the outside of the circle, so spacing is good. There are yurts and group camping as well, but these are on the other side of the river and you have to walk to get to them, hauling your gear. There are lots of trails around. All in all, it was a pleasant place to stay. read more

Great place to camp if you're not looking to go far out of the city! We had campsite 38, which was a bit of a walk but they warn you! Whole site was a sanded area so it took some getting used too, but it wasn't too bad. They say it's right on the river, but you don't have access to get into the water. Very private and very spacious. We camp at least 3 times a year and this place is on one of our favorites for camp sites. I did not enjoy my stay here. We were staying here and going to seattle during the day so we didnt have to pay for the hotel. The tent camping is right next to parking lots and baseball/softball fields. This wasnt our average camping so it was ok. It was super muddy and they only have one bathroom/shower which is close to the rvs. We wanted to take showers before heading into to town but didnt want to walk back into our campsite and get all muddy so we packed our shower stuff and clothes and drove to the bathrooms and parked in empty rv spots when available or the side when not. Theres not even a path leading to the bathroom so you have to walk through tall wet grass. The last day we parked on the side. It does say dont park cuz its for emergency vehicles, but one of us was in the car. This guy rolls up behind us and starts taking pitures of our license. He was just super rude. We told him where we camped and the reason behind everything. He said im gonna check my envelopes and they better match up. We said we have been here for four days and hes like well i havnt seen you guys around. He was just a jerk. Didnt have to be so belittling and rude about it. So yeah. And the lady at the store was just super rude too. Maybe they are married. I dont think i wanna come back to carnation because of the experience with people around here read more

So. We came here lured by the pictures on the site. It seemed a little more rural than it is. A little closer to useable riverbar than it is. It's a cute little campground but if you're a tried and true camper, this isn't for you. It's a beginner or "suburban camper" area. It's basically a giant field with the spots carved out by where they mow. Very close quarters and you can hear multiple other campsites conversations at once. It's well maintained in the areas of use. The staff I met had an attitude which was irritating but I guess not a huge deal. Showers are free which is nice but the bathroom is super far from the tent sites. Like opposite side of the grounds. One thing I find to be super important to pass on is that I have a boxer and he never has allergic reactions but within hours of being here he had swollen eyes. We left and gave him meds, he was better. Got back here six hours later and immediate swelling. So beware if you have a dog who reacts to allergens a lot. No alcohol is allowed which we didn't realize and hated. It's a holiday. No beer?? All the sites are on grass which is nice for the tents and those who hate shoes like us. The sites are good size. The grills are a little high up and small and the tables are also small. But overall not a bad spot if you want somewhere less rural. This was the only place available for this holiday so we made t work but we prefer somewhere with trees in the campgrounds and more privacy. I'd say this is a beginners campground.
