In 2025 we entrusted Cindy Schneider with the sales of our house in Alexandria and our beautiful condominium in magnificent Shirlington Village (part of Arlington). Our experience with Cindy Schneider real estate service went from being barley competent to worse. First was our Alexandria home which went on the market in May. Right after listing a home we received a very good offer WAY above the listing price. Our real estate Agent Cindy advised us not to take the offer because she has already printed a fliers for the Open House.... All offers received at the Open House were much lower. The original bidder intelligently responded by lowering their original offer and offering escalation instead. We lost over $10K and concluded that Cindy just made a mistake in understanding Alexandria market. Hence we gave her a benefit of the doubt and let her be our Agent for the sale of our Shirlington Village Condominium in most coveted area of Shirlington Village. This was a huge mistake!!! With this sale she clearly demonstrated that not only she does NOT UNDERSTAND Arlington market but also she was too busy with her grandchildren to put any, even a MINIMAL, effort to sale. Shirlington Village is EXTREEMLY desirable neighborhood with beautiful full of flowers, manicured sidewalks leading you to many, many great restaurants (Busboys and Poets and Carlyle included), Signature theatre, AMC Cinemas, Harris Teeter, CVS, Post Office, three well known Hair Salons and banks all nested within 0.4 mile walk. Shirlington Village is surrounded by beautiful parks with tree-lined walking trails and famous dog park by a stream. Cindy Schneider was THE ONLY Realtor within 19 years of Shirlington Village existence who was either too incompetent or just too lazy to put any pictures of neighborhood at her listing. She truly does NOT understand the market. The condo sold within one day only because people who bid for our home have been waiting for our unit to be put on sale ever since it showed in MLS as " coming soon " and were on their own already very familiar with the neighborhood. Our unit had also top notch beautiful upgrades to kitchen and bathrooms and was in pristine condition as it was very much loved and takin care of. Including closing (that took one hour) Cindy Schneider put less than 3 hours to her laughable " sales" effort and got another over $ 17,000 in sales commission, which averages $ 5,600 per hour earnings.... Not a bad job if you can get it. Cindy Schneider did a horrible job violating the trust that we put in her entrusting her with our properties. Between two homes she walked away with over $ 33,000 in commission which would be completely OK if she would do any, even minimal work, to earn it. We gave Cindy a benefit of the doubt after not a very competent sale of our Alexandria home. The incompetents and lack of care for the sale of our Shirlington Village condominium leaves NO DOUBT to give benefit to. There are a lot of great Real estate Agents in the area. Cindy Schneider is NOT one of them. read more

I interviewed three real estate agents and Jason was the most impressive in regards to his extensive experience and knowledge of the market. I've got experienced real estate agents in my family and I know a quality agent when I see one. I am perplexed as to how anyone would recommend these two. They appear to be a typical listing mill--they both showed up to the initial client meeting, promising great things, but then they disappeared and we were left mostly dealing with less experienced subordinates on their team. The buyer of our house had a very aggressive agent who badgered us for various concessions and Cindy laid down and played dead almost immediately. In my opinion, Cindy had NO idea how to deal with the aggressive agent and zero negotiation skills, simply forwarding the demanding emails on to us with no included advice. I couldn't believe someone with so much experience was letting a buyer's agent run circles around us. The buyer got a good deal and we were left feeling cheated, particularly by our own agents who failed to represent their own clients' interests. Cindy definitely did not earn her commission, nor did Tom, in our case. We ended up having to use their broker to finalize the deal, which is ridiculous with agents who claim to be of this caliber. We sincerely regretted hiring them. Please pay close attention to the fact that there are more than a handful of reviews out there that detail similar negative experiences with Tom and Cindy. Also, there is something to be said for the way they just blindly dismiss any complaints posted online. Do you see that? Failure to pay attention to what their clients are saying to them or about them seems to be an issue, obviously. Update: Tom responded to this review in detail because he had to based on my comments. A first? When he says full price, he meant to say with ~$20K in concessions to the buyer, but with the way that concession was handled he is permitted to say "sold for full price." Their broker is the one who actually kept the deal from falling through, as Tom and Cindy were largely useless when the negotiations got tough. The way he describes the house, you would think it was a dump, but it was actually a beautiful brick house in Alexandria with many upgrades in the $500K plus range. Would you like an agent to talk about a house with that type of commission the way Tom describes our house? The deal closed quickly because we chose to accept a low offer because we are an ACTIVE DUTY MILITARY FAMILY and needed to sell. For all of the above reasons, I recommend you stay away from this inept team, especially military families. read more

I was dealing with Cindy except for the 2 open house scheduling which I thought she was going to do but sent other team agents. They gave a great discount on the commission which we appreciated very much. I've had many real estate transactions in my life time to know few things that are not done in professional manner, not just in real estate but other services. 1. Seller agent should never complete the deal without disclosing all of the negotiations between sellers and the buyer. Cindy made her own decision to give extra money toward the repairs at the settlement without letting the seller know to finish the deal. We felt embarrassed at the settlement table when I had to ask the settlement attorney why we are getting a credit from Cindy. 2. I know that our transaction was little more difficult since selling of the house was part of divorce settlement from my parents. Even so, when I texted her to say thank her for her patience, she never replied back to just say you are welcome and thank us for the business. 3. It has been 2,weeks now and still not even a thank you card in the mail. They are always mailing out their post cards on the activities on their housing market but cannot send one little thank card is so unprofessional. Like she said, they work on volume which may be the reason why closing the deal with a little bit of appreciation is not a big deal. read more

Four years ago I reached out to Tom & Cindy as a renter. The only positive item is that I was allowed to borrow their moving truck for a day, free of charge. Everything else was the worst experience of my renting/owning life. Tom & Cindy's priority was securing their fees via a cashier's check. The assigned agent found it difficult to keep any appointments and sent her spouse. All units but one were already rented or we could not access. In addition, Tom & Cindy's standard rental contract was written to solely benefit the owner, specifically excluding a Virginia law that benefits renters. Not a word from my agent regarding this deceitful contract. Tom & Cindy represented both the owner and the renter (me). Thankfully, starting with 2017, contracts cannot be written to exclude the Virginia law that benefits renters (i.e. holding the owner responsible to actively seek a new renter once the renter has vacated). I did not know that one could pick and choose which laws are applicable. Tom & Cindy were either completely unknowledgeable or knowingly unethical, neither is ideal. In addition, Tom & Cindy did nothing / offered no solution or intervention when the owner wanted her rental checks and deposits before the first but was too busy to coordinate a key exchange until almost a week later (a week into the contract). Tom & Cindy could have offered their copy of the key, which we did with the owner's permission (still unacceptable as I already paid for access starting on the 1st). Tom & Cindy also does NO vetting of owners and I ended up with an irresponsible, unethical and non-responsive owner. I had an opportunity to purchase last fall. I noticed that Tom & Cindy touts themselves as the best and the recommended broker for multiple neighborhoods that I looked at. When I visited their sites, the sites were outdated (by years), thus reaffirming once again that Tom & Cindy will market the heck out of a situation, but will not perform the legwork. I chose another broker who was a dream - was ethical, responsible, had great connections and made me feel valued. Tom & Cindy does not. Especially as a buyer, be very wary of Tom & Cindy. read more

Overall, I am very unimpressed. Agent (Jason Schneider) chooses to do the absolute minimum. He text's you instead of giving you a call (i.e. terrible communication skills) and fails to keep regular updates (weeks of no response). He suggested to not have an open house showing due to the low statistical probability of it resulting in a contract. He chooses to have agent's call you instead of him, because he's too busy and may not be able to relay the message. So the result is agent's calling you when you're at work. Also he didn't regulate the lock box and we had a bunch of agents go through our house without a heads up (they left their business cards). Because Tom & Cindy is an established organization, they can get your place on the market relatively quickly and have connections with contractors to spruce your place up. But I'd go with an agent that is really willing to work for that commission, keep you up to date, will take time to explain all the various situations that might arise. read more

Negotiations are defiantly Cindy's weakness. She was crippled and bullied by an aggressive buyers agent. Cindy didn't provide guidance and instead opted for simply forwarding the buyers agent tirades to me and asking me, "so what do you want to do?" "I don't know Cindy, what suggestions do you have...isn't that what I'm paying you for? Advice?" All Cindy did was raise her whinny voice and complain and argue. Cindy quickly went sour on my property and sympathized with the buyer. Additionally, she lacks tact evidenced by the fact the buyers agent knew and exploited I had a relator in the family, something Cindy must have volunteered...why? I have no idea. I will continue to recommend everyone stay far away from Cindy because she can't serve your best interest, folds under pressure and did little to earn her commission.
