We rented a unit in Parkfairfax managed by this property management company and their "property management" was a disaster. I experienced constant flooding and sewage leaking from the kitchen sinks (yep, 2 sinks), giant sized insects invading our space, decaying floor boards from water damage, 3 years of uninterrupted mold and mildew, the need for a dehumidifier requiring 4 buckets of water to be dumped daily, and the last stray was a bathroom ceiling leaks flooding the unit requiring a 1 month stay in the hotel paid for by my insurance and I still had to pay the rent for my unit. During those 3 years, I suffered terribly from respiratory problems for the first time in my life. No empathy shown by the leasing agent or landlord for the major and myriad inconveniences. Upon returning to the unit in addition to the floor repairs they used substandard contractors to paint the walls. During my stay at the hotel (on my insurance's dime, mind you despite paying the full month's rent DURING it's renovation) I was not notified that the walls would be painted until AFTER the work was done, nor was my artwork removed from the walls prior to painting. The substandard painters merely painted around my artwork. Essentially their substandard painting contractors sealed the damage free adhesive to the walls with the paint making the artwork impossible to remove without damaging the wall. Moreover, the substandard contractors also painted over the back door sealing it shut. Upon move-out, the property management company wanted to penalize me for the damage caused by their own substandard painters shoddy work, since there're still holding on to my security deposit. Aaron helped us several years ago when we were seeking a property management company to manage our townhouse in Arlington, Virginia. We had to move due to a job change, and the real estate market was at the bottom, so we decided to rent it out until the market rebounded. My wife and I worked with Alex Logsdon to buy our first home and it was exactly the experience I had hoped for when we got started. When we started the process I knew nothing about buying a home and was unsure about hiring an agent right away - I was nervous that there would be too much incentive for an agent to rush us into a decision. Alex came as a referral from our friends and was absolutely amazing to work with. Trust: It was apparent very early on that Alex was going to match our energy and not try to rush us. We were very clear that we were early in the search and really just wanted to get an understanding of the market and the process. Alex supported us exactly as we needed by making sure we fully understood the process and the current market. We never once felt pushed to make a decision or thought we were being talked into doing something we didn't want. He also helped us think about things that we wouldn't have on our own; he was instrumental when it came to crafting a strong offer that was realistic to the home and neighborhood. Availability / Access: Alex was available whenever we needed him. I suppose this is probably the nature of being in real estate, but he constantly worked around our schedule. In the current market, when the right house comes up you need to see it quick - and frequently taking off early from work wasn't an option for me. Alex was able to meet us outside of my normal work hours whenever we needed, or he would look at houses for us when we couldn't be there. He worked very hard to make sure our many questions were answered about every home we were considering to give us peace of mind that we were making the right choice. When the incredibly important deadlines came up, making an offer, inspections, closing, etc - Alex responded and reacted immediately. Also, working with Alex enabled us to have access to all the homes within our criteria as soon as they were available. We found that the good homes get snatched up so quickly that by the time you go to the open houses listed online you might already be too late. Alex was able to get us the access and information that helped us prioritize what homes to review and when. Ease of process: Alex and his team were literally everything we needed to close on our house. We had a two week window for closing after our offer was accepted which would seem to be very stressful, but Alex's internal and extended teams were on top of everything. Krissy Shellenberger coordinated and ensured we were meeting all the deadlines necessary and kept us fully informed through the process (when, where, how to send EMC, loan application deadlines, home inspections, pest inspections, appraisals, surveys, insurance requirements, utilities, etc.) Everything that they could handle themselves (nearly everything) they did - and they stayed on top of us to make sure everything we had to take care of was complete.
