I really like their club sandwiches and the king gyro is always loaded up with gyro meat. Their specials are nice too when they have them, like the wings and hotdogs. They have been consistent with their food and service the prices have gone up recently but so has everyone else's. They were pricey to begin with but this is a better type of fast food. read more

Honestly I don't know why this place has so many negative comments. From what I've seen, this is a solid 4 local establishment. The restaurant is clean, spacious. The menu is extensive with hot dog, gyro, burger, and sandwich options. The staff was friendly and helpful with ordering and serving food. The food itself was simple but good. The Chicago hog dog was a classic. All the ingredients are not heavy at all. The downside is it lacked a bit of flavor, hence 4 stars. And the King Gyro, god, 2 people can't even finish it. I got a Groupon for this place hoping to try it out one day after working in Rockford. Instead my boyfriend and I thought we would indulge on a lazy weekend. We used to order delivery from this establishment, at least once a week. This was over the course of 10 years, or more. The problem is, the phone is located up front, and the person taking your order can't always hear you. This has probably contributed to quite a few messed up orders. But the reason we gave up on them, is the way they handle it. You , as the customer, are guilty, unless you can prove innocence. Even if you were rung up for the correct order, they will still refuse to drive out an item you are missing, if shorted. Overall, the customer service sucks. And be assured, this has been happening way too often, over the last 10 years. We are done, with this establishment. read more

Tom & Jerry's has been a longtime "go-to" restaurant for me and my friends. Their menu is pretty diverse, with lots of options. Their service is usually prompt (except for their drive-through, which can be quite slow, but that's because everything is made fresh). Unfortunately, I have to lower their rating because of a perennial problem in this restaurant: their dining room plays AWFUL music at too loud a volume. I have repeatedly asked them to turn it down so my dining companions and I can hear each other, but the kids working there don't seem to care what customers think. It lowers my total experience at this place from "pretty good" to "pretty bad," and that's a shame because I used to really like it. read more

Great sandwich shop with real deal homemade Italian beef served with a side of au jus and topped however you want it. Gyros are great too, shaved off the spit. My husband and I love this place. He's ordered more of a variety of food than me but what we REALLY like are their char burgers! They make every burger "custom, made-to-order". We each get our char burgers exactly how we want them. Portillos used to be my go-to place for a good burger, but no more. Almost better than the burgers are the made-to-order fries! My husband prefers (disgusting) greasy, whimpy fries and I love hard crunchy fries. Without fail, we both get our fries as requested. In fairness, I only gave four stars because I've only had their char burger and fries. We're big fans! read more

Honestly I think their food is good. But the staff and service is why I'm giving this rating. I ordered my food for pickup at a scheduled future time (6pm and I ordered it around 5:20). I arrived at my scheduled time and still waited about 20 minutes for my food. When it was finally given to me, I walked out to my car and double checked to make sure everything was in there. One of the items was incomplete so I walked back in to let them know. Instead of anybody helping me or walking up to me to see what I needed, two of the girls (one of them I assume was the manager) continued to whisper and talk about me as if I weren't there. I heard the one say "I already gave her her food". Ive been coming here since I can remember but instances like this make me not want to come back. If the situation were handled more differently and in a more kinder way, maybe this review could have ended up a lot more differently. read more

Typically the food is consistent and decent. However, the service is bad to awful. We ordered a delivery this past Monday, they said 45-60 minutes. After 70 minutes I had to call and ask where it was. The young man who answered said they had a delivery issue but then said the food wasn't even made and that the driver would wait for it and head our way. Of course, I was very upset that no one called, we are less then 10 minutes from them and, it was a sandwich, 2 hotdogs and a fry! I could've driven there made it myself and been home in less than an hour. I knew there wasn't a manager there so I asked for the one who would be there the next day and for his name. He refused to tell me who he was and then hung up on me. My husband told the driver what the guy said about "having an issue" and he said that was a lie. The Gyros are good but the rest of the food is ok. The delivery service is awful. I called to order and they said 35 minutes. After 45 minutes Tina the manager said no its up to an hour for delivery! I told her i was told 35 minutes and she basically said i was lying. I waited 1 hr 5 minutes and finally just cancelled the order. They would not give a discount on the order, they really just didn't seem to care about their customers. It's really disappointing since I really liked their Gyros. read more

Good fresh fast food. Gyro, charburgers (best kind IMO), ubiquitous Chicago Dogs (with the cool buns) and crinkly fries!! For my local burger and fries fix I alternate between here and Culver's nearly adjacent to T and J's. Did delivery for the first time at 5:30PM week night...they said 45 minutes to an hour but was there in 30. Cheesecake is from Eli's and that is a plus. Serves Pepsi..."NO COKE"!! I was here months ago and wasn't too impressed. I stopped in today for a quick bite to eat to give them another try and it was wonderful. They were so slammed and were killing it. There was a young lady in there with a hat and she was running the show. Bagging the food, getting the orders to the delivery drivers and over to the window! This place has definitely improved. Food at Tom and Jerry's is great. Best thing about Tom and Jerry's is the GYRO. Awesome tzatziki sauce plenty of moist savory meat! They really pile it on. The gyro is so stuff almost looks like a burrito! Had just about every dish they offer and I have to say I havent been disappointed yet. This is the place for some good food quick! Just visited the new location, after being a regular customer at the old location. New setup is beautiful, nice seating area with plenty of parking outside. Price is a little higher than usual hot dog spots but there is no competition for them in Belvidere. Food is decent, not great but not bad. Where to start... this place use to be wonderful, good food and fast. Now the name fits like the cartoon. Food is either over cooked, like their sausage, more like charcoal stick, missing essential items like sauce for gyro, or having to wait long times for your order. This goes for the drive thru or delivery. My daughter wanted a pizza. Gave us all the other food we ordered and half hor later still no pizza. So now all other food is cold. Manager says sorry cook burnt first one and did refund money for pizza but seriously a small personal thin crust pizza doesn't take that long. So we got the food and ate it cold cause they were not going to remake the entire order. Now come to tonight. Wife orders for the entire family delivery and she wants a gyro with extra sauce. Guess what. No sauce. Calls back to complain and girls says we will send you the sauce. Wife demands manager and now a new sandwich is on its way. Told half hour. So 1.5 hours later guess what we don't have. You guessed it no gyro. Still waiting after calling and being told on the way. I have been coming to Tom and Jerry's for years. It was the best place in town. The downswing started this summer when the burger changed. I then started to order the gyros. This was great stuff! Everything about it was perfect. Then a few days ago I got one that was not as good. I thought it was a fluke so ordered again today but this time with fries and a drink. The phone service is terrible. One minute your ordering your food and then next your on hold without any kind of notice. I ordered a regular fry with a side of cheese and even though the person on the phone taking the order repeated that back to me, they failed to circle it on my order. Therefore I did not get what I ordered and for them to bring me what I ordered that they failed to write down, I would have had to pay for it. I am not going to pay for their mistake. I used to enjoy the food but their service is too terrible to deal with anymore. read more
