Hadn't been there in a while, the omelettes used to be fluffy and not real greasy, today that was so different. Definitely not the same as they used to make. And we couldn't believe they sent the toast out completely burnt. I showed it to the server and she did offer to get new toast, but by the time she checked on us, we were already disgusted by both the greasy omelettes and the burnt toast. 5 for service, 3 for food. The service was great. It was very busy so a seat at the counter meant no wait. We also love sitting at diner counters. Our server said she had been there 17 years. I think her name was Sarah. She gave us a run down of the menu and then excused herself to deliver food. She came back and told us they believe in hot food first. I agree and was glad that she did that. Sitting at the counter gave us a great view of the items going out. I definitely want to try the waffles the next time. They were golden brown and crispy looking. I opted for the Eggs Benedict. Hearty serving. The hollandaise was a little orange colored and didn't really have much taste, but it was fine. The Canadian bacon was a little sweet, so more like ham. It was all good. My husband got the breakfast with the eggs, bacon, sausage, and pancakes. They are supposed to be known for their pancakes. The pancakes were okay. They were crisp on the edges which we liked, but a little doughy in the middle. Not bad at all, but we've had better. Give them a try. They have another location in Belvidere. The staff was very friendly. It was clean and had a JBs or a village Inn vibe that reminded me of going to breakfast as a kid with my grandparents. They kept my coffee filled and let us know that when we were ready to order (it took some time to decide there are a ton of options) to just close our menus. The food came out quickly and exactly as we requested. waitress was sweet and checked with us without "bugging" us. The cook knows how to make some crispy delicious bacon! Spoke to the manager regarding a patron that lumbered through the dining room with a large sheep dog, (it was very obvious this was not a working dog) and sat down with his family, while the dog blocked the aisle. The manager admitted that she was negligent and asking if the service animal is required because of a disability. Roxy was her name. Service was absolutely substandard, she was very rude, didn't pay attention to what was being ordered and her personality actually sucked like a pig snout. It must had been a bad day to be there. September 3, 2025, 10:15 am. Raining. She had very bad manners to be a server/waitress. No greetings, I guess that's her preference of race, very snappy and pushy as far as placing your order. I did notice that she was so friendly with those of her own race? Cheerful, greeting and saying good morning and hello to everyone. Can I get you some coffee or tea? Where would you like to sit? She even went as far as getting silverware for certain groups of customers. I actually had to ask two different waitresses for silverware and water and napkins. I'm a disabled veteran and I felt so lost being in that restaurant. I have no plans on returning as I don't reside in that state. Food and service was a point blank "no-go." Well, I was touristing here from Minneapolis so wanted to visit a variety of locations. My friend who lives here only wants to come here, so, what's a tourist to do? Well I went back to find friendly, experienced servers again. Danielle and Brenda are superb servers. I have yet to see a restaurant make my girlfriend's eggs right. I'm bargaining with her to be quiet about it most times. Here I notice the breakfasts are perfectly made to her order. A novel concept always getting what you order. I have had good and bad service here but the food is alway good. The breakfast is always amazing but if you come in on the weekend expect to wait a bit but it is worth it. The bathrooms are not the cleanest and the men's bathroom door is positioned that you could get hit when walking by as the hallway to the bathrooms is not big at all. Either way the risk of being hit by an opening door, having to wait, and hit or miss service it is worth it for the taste of the food! Try it if you haven't. Came here with two very hungry teenage boys while we were visiting Rockford. We were seated quickly, and were presented with menus by our waitress promptly. All three of us ordered the swedish pancakes, which were served promptly. The portions were huge and we could have easily ordered two a piece, instead of three. Our waitress was kind yet efficient, and kept my coffee mug full. This is definitely a quick turnover type of restaurant but we never felt rushed. We really enjoyed our pancakes and I saw a lot of interesting options on the menu. Very reasonably priced as well. read more

I love the biscuits &Gravy, southern style; two biscuits (lots of Gravy) two eggs, two sausage links, two slices of well prepared bacon. What's not to love. There is usually a few minutes wait on the weekends but it's worth it. I cannot really recommend one specific thing because everything is good and tastes as you would expect. This was plan B on the fly when my first place ended up not being open with yelps posted hours. The place looks like a repurposed restaurant from the past with a front sun room and a drive thru on the side. Parking was easy just after opening and seated was the same, please wait to be seated by the way. I was promptly seated with menu and water, plastic cup which I hate by the way. The place can best be described as an old school diner because it was dated. It has the lunch counter up front with booths and tables in the rest of the place and the crappy carpet mixed with that fast food brick looking floor tile thing. The menu has all the regulars and I was hoping that the chicken fried might be the needle in a hay stack real one, no frozen like 99% of the places that I ask if its a real one. Well I'm going to play it safe and just get the sausage patties with eggs, hash browns and sourdough toast. The food came right away and the sourdough toast looked great, not the I can't tell if it's white bread of sourdough when looking at it kind. The eggs were perfect sunny side up and the hash browns were good and cooked nicely. The sausage patties were juicy and not cooked to dry/death with good flavor, not the boring bland kind. The sourdough toast was good with that nice little chew which is my favorite toast option. Overall it was a solid breakfast and I can see why it filled up while I was there, not every breakfast place is a solid one believe it or not. Tldr bad coffee mediocre omelet and decent pancakes. Busy understaffed place. Run from what architecturally is an 80s McDonald's, this place is packed for a very average dining experience. No place which specifically calls out pancakes in its name should be missing maple syrup. Even if it is a premium add on cost. This is literally a no Brainer. The pancakes were the best part of the meal so they are doing that ok. The coffee was bitter and just bad tasting. So skip the entirely. I also had the broccoli and cheese omelet. It was fluffy but lacked any seasoning. Also chop up the broccoli to at least smaller than a quarter. There were literally pieces which wer 2" long in there. The staff was nice and doing their best to keep up. They were doing a good job of cleaning in-between diners as well. I may try again I may not on this place. read more

Disclaimer: We haven't been in for some time but last time we *were* there, the carpet was black with ground-in dirt, the tables were sticky with dirt and you could tell where they didn't clean them completely by the buildup of crud along the edges and in the hinge areas of the folding tables.
