The staff are extremely nice: it was to flag down a waiter when we wanted to add something to our order and everyone was extremely friendly. The prices are extremely reasonable (especially compared to cities) and food came out pretty quickly. I went with a double cheeseburger: the quantity was perfect for a large lunch. Awesome little breakfast place for poplar grove.. if they would get a couple new severs. Good food. But not good service. Even the "hiring manager" I heard an employee call him. RUDE, rude to the way he was talking to customers. And then super rude to the way he was talking to the poor girl that came in about a job. Never heard a "hiring manager" talk like that.. UMM ya I don't think I told you to come in today at 3, i told you to call. i have a ton of applications and can't get to them for weeks, so like I told you I would call you. Then maybe don't tell people you're hiring if you can't even get to the applications. But seeing the service I had the last few times I've been there, I think the best thing for you to do is go through some of those applications and get some better servers, who talk, smile, and have somewhat of a personality. But food is okay, and of course it's not all the servers that are like that. Sucks when some ruin it for others. read more

Outstanding family restaurant! From the moment we walked in the door, we knew it was going to be good They offer you coffee as you are sitting down. Then comes an abundance of friendly, helpful service Homemade soups, breakfast all day with eggs and hash browns, fresh lunch sandwiches with fries or the most beautiful onion rings you can imagine, homemade pies, including seasonal pumpkin pies. We didn't eat all of these items but we couldn't help but ogle all of the dishes coming out of the kitchen Country cooking with pride. Best service especially the bus service (lots of coffee refills!) Owners should be proud that they have an awesome team welcoming customers everyday. We will definitely be back! read more

I can only speak to their breakfasts but they make one of the best breakfast burritos I've ever had. Stuffed with filling, evenly spaced ingredients, thin tortilla with a nice sear. The chorizo and the regular both are fantastic. The burritos in themselves make me come here. But I also return for the fabulous service. They're always fast and friendly. I was out in the middle of nowhere and looking for lunch when I came upon this oasis at the intersection of Rt. 76 and Rt. 173. I know these kinds of places. Friendly servers who have been there 20 years, reasonable prices, free coffee refills, French dip au jus with fries, Chicken parmesan, burgers, kid's menu, hot turkey with gravy and fresh pies for dessert. Sure enough, this place had comfort food and a comfortable atmosphere. The interior was updated, the staff welcoming, my server Anna was friendly and attentive, there was counter seating if you prefer, and even a back room if you have a private party planned. For lunch I had a bowl of the soup of the day (tortellini chicken), which was plenty. But high on too much caffeine from the bottomless coffee and I went and ordered the Angus burger. Tried this small town restaurant for the first time, and I'm impressed! The staff are so welcoming and friendly. Customer service was excellent. Everyone just seemed happy to be here. As for dinner, I ordered the Alfredo and was pleased to know that their sauce is homemade! It was so creamy and tasty! My husband had the western burger with fries. The fries are homemade here also. They're super crunchy and flavorful, I would seriously come here just for fries, ketchup, and a coffee sometime. They're that good! If you're thinking about trying this place, don't think twice. Just do it. I heard they have a pretty good fish fry on Friday's.. We will definitely be back. read more

I must admit to the world - the veggie skillet was awesome - farm fresh veggies and eggs, hash browns cooked to perfection with just the right amount of crisp. And the bacon....ohh the bacon. This was my first visit to the Boone County Family Restaurant. I've always wanted to stop but it was never the right time. Or never enough time. So this day I was alone, working with clients in Poplar Grove, when finishing I decided to stop. Walk in and sat at the breakfast bar. I was greeted immediately by my server offering coffee. I eagerly welcomed it while checking out the menu that had many options. I already knew I wanted biscuits and gravy. She offered one biscuit or two? I chose one. My plate came out very quickly, she offered more coffee. I quickly devoured the thick and creamy sausage gravy which I heavily peppered. The biscuits were beautifully baked, golden on the outside, fluffy but not overly thick and fluffy on the inside. It was delicious. My server took care of me the entire time and the restaurant was buzzing with activity on this particular Saturday morning! I'd totally make time to go there again! read more

Always a good time when I come eat here. I visit this restaurant several times a week staff and ownership are very friendly. Food is very good and the atmosphere is very diverse from young ones coming out with family to teens and groups in their 20's, 30's and so on. Managers are terrible, incredibly closed-minded, and rude. The staff was ok, I feel sorry for the work environment they've been placed into. The Tuna melt is terrible, it's completely soaked in tuna juice, gave me a stomach ache. The Swedish pancakes are the only good thing on the menu. I'm not a fan of the smell of the place. read more
