Our family has been customers of Tom Barrett for 40 years. We have always been treated by professionals with respect and kindness, no matter what the issue. During the "Soccer Years", we were at Tom's at least once a week getting glasses adjusted, ordering new bows, and finally, at Valerie's suggestion, ordering sports glasses for the offspring! Still, almost weekly visits - it is AMAZING what little boys do to glasses while they are supposedly on their face! We were never charged for anything other than replacement parts! Now the offspring have lives of their own and we all still go to Tom Barrett! Recently, I had cataract surgery. I needed reading glasses. I looked online for reading glasses. There were no styles that went down far enough to easily see distances above them. I ended up buying a cheap pair in every magnification at the local dollar place. I had to wear them so far down my nose that they obstructed my airway! Cleaned them once and they clouded up badly, but I found the strengths I needed. I called Shawnna, at Tom Barrett Optical for HELP! Told her what I wanted and could not find and that we would be in Dallas the next Wednesday to see what solutions she could offer. We exchanged pictures via texts and Emails. Wednesday, we arrived at Tom Barrett Optical and Shawnna had gone to lunch! Shawnna had put the frames in a tray labeled with my name so anyone could help me. I was still dissatisfied with offerings. Unless we could modify the lenses. I wanted the lenses to be shorter. Now in the past Tom and Tracy have made my lenses bigger and smaller than the manufacturer suggested, without hesitation. This time Rob said that the only way to make them shorter would be to hand sand them down as much as possible and still maintain the integrity of the frames. They arrived today, and I am an incredibly happy Reader Wearer! I plan to get other colors and magnifications. My husband and I cannot give enough Stars to Tom Barrett Optical. I have been going to Tom Barrett Optical for more than 20 years. I have a small face, and Tom Barrett Optical makes my rimless glasses with a smaller-than-usual lens for me so that my progressive-lens glasses fit me correctly. And they will order samples for you to look at without pressuring you to buy them. My son is transitioning from kids' glasses to adult glasses and they found him glasses that he liked and that fit him and then ordered them in the dark blue color he wanted. That was after they did some research and had three different styles already pulled for us to look at when we came in after we let them know what my son was looking for. They let us know that the style he is getting has the option of sunglasses clips but did not pressure us to buy them. If you can't find the store, just park by the Subway. Tom Barrett came up in my general google search for the best Optical places in Dallas. It it lived up to the billing. I had my own frames that I purchased but wanted skilled hands to make my lenses. The staff was very informative about all my options and relayed this in a clear manner. My glasses were finished ahead of time and they even waited for me to weave through the Dallas rush hour traffic that delayed me a few minutes before they were about to close. Again, I am a glad customer and will likely make a future purchase. As someone who can be overwhelmed by options, this was very helpful, and I felt that they could explain why they preferred certain frames over others on me. Years ago I bought my parents prescription glasses at Tom Barrett Optical. The glasses for my mom were her favorite. They were light weight and flexible as well as looking great on her. She lives in Indiana and is unable to travel to dallas any longer. She looked all over driving distance in Indiana and never found the same frames to replace the original. Besides needing new lenses finally the original pair broke and she was never satisfied with any other Frames. So I took a gamble and called Tom Barrett to see if they carried those frames. They accessed the old records and even though the frames were not carried in their location--- they went above and beyond to assist me. They ordered the frames, worked with me patiently as I obtained the updated prescription from Indiana, completed the order and shipped to my mom. WOW. what amazing service. Shawnna was the employee who helped me. And they shipped special items in the box for my mom since it was a gift. Extraordinary service & top notch precision with the prescriptions. This is the only place I can go because of the level of my prescription (severe near sightedness) and whenever I buy frames at other walk-in places, I always get it wrong. Because I can't wear certain size lenses within certain size frames with the prescription I have...I always end up back at Barrett Optical, choosing more carefully with their help, the exact frames that I can actually wear.
