FINALLY had a chance to go here and it was well worth the wait. Saw it on my way to Vegas for business and have been waiting so I could take my kids. My 8 year old found a few things "spooky" but he was fine, though I wouldn't recommend much younger unless they are into horror flicks at home. My 15 y/o loved it as did my wife and I. If you're in the area and have at least an hour or so to burn, it's well worth the stop. Cheers! read more

My girlfriend has mentioned this place multiple times... but until we randomly drove by and both shouted "monster museum?!?" We knew we had to stop. And it did not disappoint! It was roasting outside but we still took the opportunity to take pictures in the props- and then went inside to be greater by none other than Toms father- super awesome guy!!! He explained to us the tour- and encouraged us to take lots of photos- which we did! The props and information was fantastic. Many of the movies and actors were familiar- if not some of our favorites- but learning about the actors who played them, the history, and seeing the artistry and effort and magic that went into these creations was the real experience and treat. We stayed for about an hour, and wandered the little shop area after. I can honestly say this was a great little detour that I highly recommend you take- learn a little cinematic history- see some awesome monsters (not scary- I promise!) and enjoy the cool AC too! Boy, oh boy!! I had been wanting to stop here for a while, taking the short drive from Vegas to Boulder City time and time again, only to never have anyone want to join me. I am so glad I just stopped today and had my grandpa join me (even though it's not his thing, he seemed glad to see me happy). I really enjoy the physical prop usage in films, and feel sad that it's mostly going the CGI route. This place reminds us of what amazing artistry we are leaving behind- the collection of horror memorabilia is AMAZING. The obvious love and passion poured into this place is what makes it so special. I was extra excited to arrive right before Butch Patrick (Eddie Munster) was scheduled to arrive. Thankfully grandpa was patient enough for me to wait for an autographed picture (he usually isn't so willing to wait for things lol). An Absolute MUST For Horror Fans! I went to attend a live broadcast of Danielle Harris' and Scout Taylor Compton's podcast, Talk Scary To Me and to celebrate the 6th anniversary of the museum. Everyone was super friendly and the museum itself makes you feel like you are right inside a movie. The pieces that Tom has created are nothing short of incredibly realistic (I kept expecting something to jump out at me) and lighting is the perfect touch for the effect. My favorites were the Puppet Master dolls. GO SEE THIS!!! read more

This place was awesome! Hubby really wanted to visit on our last trip to Vegas and we were not disappointed. The craftsmanship and artistic talent displayed was phenomenal. This place is really cool place to go check out you can see a lot of relics from old monster movies like the Gremlins puppet Master etc. Yesterday me and friend got to meet the guy who was Michael Myers in Halloween the first one he was very nice and signed a Funko Pop for me.they do events like that alot you sign up on their email list to know when your favorite monsters might be around. I am a horror movie fan and having this place located within 45 minutes of my home, is a treat. If you enjoy watching horror films, then you will know who Tom Devlin is. For those who don't, he is a well known special effects make up artist. While the museum is small, there are awesome pieces, memorabilia, and facts located in this fantastic horror filled place. If you're in Boulder City, this place is located on the main street and cannot be missed. There is a big sign and also a hearse sitting in the front of the museum. Michael Jackson's Thriller character will greet you at the door. There is ample parking on both sides of the museum. The price is definitely worth it. Depending on you and what you would like to get out of the museum will dictate the time you spend in there. There are photo and video opportunities but no flash is allowed. I took my 8 year old and she wasn't scared and took part in a lot of the photo opportunities. If you are in town or live in Vegas and love horror movies, then there is no excuse. Get yourself to the museum and see those things that made you afraid of the dark. read more

This was definitely not on our list of places to checkout during this trip. We actually had never heard of this place, but I'm glad we stumbled upon this hidden jewel. If you have ever had a love or fear of scary movies and monster this is a great place to see the displays and face your nightmares. I honestly was a bit scared. The fact that most of the characters and creations are the actual ones used in the movies. It was also cool to feel the scare and excitement of visiting this museum. I definitely enjoyed the look on my girlfriends face when she got scare. It's located in Boulder and is very closed to the Hoover Dam so you can visit either before you go the dam or on the way back. The family will love this experience. You are allowed to take photos but flash photography is not allowed. read more

I love this place, ive been twice so far and I always have a blast. If you're a horror nerd going or in the Vegas/ Boulder City area I highly recommend this place! Its only $15 and you get access to the entire museum and you can take all the pics and videos you want (no flash) as well as you can stay in there as long as you want pretty much. Anything from screen used, to life casts (some SUPER famous ones too), recreations, fun stories, and its not a normal "museum" its basically like a fun path you get to go through. On top of all this, whoever happens to be working the front desk and whoever is there that day, you are bound to hear some super cool stories! This is deffinetly a place for any horror junkie, special effects fan, or anybody who just likes some spooks and fun photos! One of the cheaper attractions of this type in the Vegas area but most certainly still at the top of my list and a must visit each time im out there! read more

How cool! On my way to go antiquing in Boulder City, my friend spotted a sign for a monster museum. Upon learning that it was only $13, we decided to stop. I'm so glad we did!! The guy who was working was really nice and had a good sarcastic sense of humor. He showed us some pictures of an upcoming addition to the museum, encouraged us to take pictures, and sent us on our way. This place is not only informative but also fun! Lots of movie memorabilia as well as recreations to see and pose with. Apparently their collection is always growing, so I'm looking forward to going back in the future to see what gets added!! There's a little gift shop filled with nifty horror things plus some costumes if you're in the market for off season halloween costumes. My wife and I went here just recently and we ended up meeting Tom's father, Who is very hospitable and who was very informative about Friday the 13th and the Crystal Lake location. If you're looking for a review for the haunt that is ran here as well as "crimson manor" this is it! Both are fairly small and although it's not extremely terrifying it was a lot of fun! My husband and I went on Saturday and the museum is bitch black during the haunt. There's tons of fog and you are given a small flash light to walk through the museum. But beware!! Some of the monsters come to life at night ;) Crimson manor was lots of fun too! Fairly small but we had a great time! P.S. the little girl that scared me on Saturday night is great!!! read more

Listen. For this area, it is a great price to see some super awesome old movie horror props. I really liked it. I wish they could get a bigger place to display these jewels from the films they represent a little nicer, but still fun. My mom had recently purchased a groupon for this Museum, so my family and I decided to make a day trip out of it and visit Boulder City. The Monster Museum was first on our list. When you walk in, you are immediately in the gift shop which had a lot of memorabilia, costumers, and "gift shop" type items. The museum is through another door within the shop, which leads you to a back area with real movie props, well-thought out descriptions and interactive displays. It is not a scary museum, and nothing will pop out at you, although some of the props are definitely for more mature audiences. Overall, the museum is a fun way to spend your time in Boulder City. It is not an all day adventure, I believe we spent about 2 hours going through both the museum and the gift shop. Highly recommend! read more

Amazing little gem in Boulder City! If you're into horror/sci-fi then you should come check this place out! I live in lake Las Vegas so it's close to me but for those that are coming from central Las Vegas might be a bit far, but next to it there is chilly jillyz so you can stop and get a quick bite or some ice cream. Anyways back to the monster museum, it's a "must go" and check out museum! $13 a person is not bad at all, it is a small museum but a lot to read! Looks like they will be expanding it more later so I will be going back in a couple of months to check it out again! Took my son who is also into horror/sci-fi and he loved it! Take a trip out to Boulder City and check this little joint out! They also have a gift shop, shirts, costumes, masks, little collectible figurines, patches and so much more! You won't regret it! My wife and I have been to Vegas, a lot over the years, and thus whenever we are in town we are always looking for something new to do. The great Google returned Tom Devlin's Monster Museum last year (Oct 2020), but that particular time we didn't have a rental car and passed. This time while checking things to do I saw there was a private tour option with free pick up and return in the Monster Museum's Hearse. We immediately booked a 7:30pm pick up (Jan 2020). We were picked up early in the Hearse by Tom himself and had a great discussion on the ride over to the Museum. Tom asked us to rate our interest in Horror Films on a 1-10 scale. I responded; "Classic Black and White up to the 1950/60's horror a 10, 70/80s slasher/zombie films an 8, cheaper horror films of the video rental era (Trauma, Full Moon) a 9, modern horror/gore/torture films a 4. My wife... reverse those numbers" Tom said I was coming to the right place and my wife would learn some history. Tom was right on. His museum is a testament to practical effects/make up and is a history of classic monster effects in movies. We spent well over 2 hours exchanging stories of our love of these movies and monsters and I loved his encyclopedic knowledge on the art and history of monsters in film. The museum is filled with actual props and Tom's work (the full life sized displays are all Tom's re-imagining of classic film monsters) as well as general memorabilia. Tom is incredibly passionate and genuinely approachable and nice. My wife and I had the best time for the money we have had in Vegas over the years. And will make this an at least once a year visit (as it was clear Tom is always revising and adding to the museum). If you can get out to the museum on your own there is a daytime self guided tour well worth the money as a road side attraction, but take my word for it, book the private pick up tour. You will not be sorry! read more

Ok so we stopped here as my nine year old said I have wanted to come here forever....I was pleasantly surprised as to the content of the museum which is a cataloged inventory of classic monsters through current ones. The owners who worked on many of the films presented display their years of hard work. There are pieces that were actually used in many of the movies themselves. The kids were excited and it wasn't too scary. There are plaques with amazing artwork and information blurbs on all of the pieces presented.
