Not a fan of this place as I am not really for dives. Might be ok for the locals. Reminded me of a classier Jay's Elbow. Came here as part of our Christmas bar crawl. ALready a decent amount of folks in there when we got there (we had a bigger group of like 20 or so people). Cash only place so luckily I had a few bucks to use and then had to bum a few more so I didn't have to tap ATM. Asked for a cranberry & vodka, the bartender thought I said cranberry vodka I guess so he told me they didnt have it. I was like what, how can you not have this? SO then he said they had vodka & cranberry. LIke really, IDC how you say vodka & cranberry????? I just wanted a drink. After I got my drink, went to go in the back and sit down the chat with everyone else. Did not order food or play pool or do anything else. Nothing fancy here, just a solid neighborhood dive bar. Average beer list, average bar food, but really nice people, both customers and employees alike. I live nearby and stop in every once in awhile. Just came here last Saturday with my girlfriend and a few friends. Great place to drink some cheap beer and shoot some pool for awhile. Outdoor bar that has become almost a full fledged neighborhood nuisance. It used to be the immediate neighbors were only treated to night noise and air pollution from a few cig toting millennials out in front of the intersection, but now that sidewalk tables have been added, the congregation never leaves and has expanded to trashing at least two adjacent properties with plastic party cups and aluminum cans, strewn across the sidewalk and all the way across the street to the satellite parking, in addition to all of the stray cigs everywhere. Because the proprietor won't clean up after a shift, or do anything that resembles curbing its customer behavior, multiple letters have been left on the door by irate neighbors about the trashed sidewalks, to little or no avail. New management has slapped some new, blue siding on the place, which was a long overdue face-lift as it was often thought of merely as the town eyesore. They seem like they should be the type to want to have some semblance of pride in their investment, but the overall manifestation of that still has been lacking. Their interior renovation is ongoing which promises to add more comfortable and spacious seating. However, their having done away with acceptance of credit cards, and the departure from a once popular daily lunch special, makes this bar not worth it to even return to a second time. It offers nothing substantive to earn a loyal following. To the degree that I once felt welcome in the establishment as a home base for HT locals (their motto was "where friends meet"), I gotta say this is pretty much a last ditch option in a town that already has quite a vibrant bar/restaurant scene, by which this location has no longer seems keen on measuring up. read more

Environment: looked like it was street parking but can't confirm since we walked down to this neighborhood bar. Walked in and sat down at the bar where my friends were warmly greeted by the bartender. Few other customers enjoying their brewskis. They have a couple of TVs On with The Price is Right and Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Food: we got the cheesesteak quesadilla and two order of wings. Food was classic bar food, not the greatest but still something to settle the hunger. The quesadilla came with salsa and sour cream and were loaded. Large bites required. We got the Hot and Honey Hot Wings. Naked, not breaded. Wings were cooked perfectly. Crispy even after saucing. The only qualm was that the sauces could have been more heavy. I came here with a fellow yelper Jason K. after our original destination had been compromised by a reunion (Class of 83) with a live band all in one night. So we decided to come here to Brewers where we know we can actually enjoy a few libations . This place had a good crowd in here when we came in, I am assuming it was the holiday weekend, not like the other spot where we were at where you couldn't move. Local watering hole that I really can't call a dive bar, but yet it is a dive bar. Every town has their own version of a "Regal Beagle" that they can always count on to keep it a low key evening. Brewers has that vibe to it , a blue collar type of atmosphere where you come in for one purpose, and that is to have fun. A sports bar to the fullest with a decor like no other. Wood paneled walls with sports legends hanging all around. You have the different promotional beer signs or mirrors mixing and matching letting you know, " Hey its time to throw down a few pints, and lets get jovial". Again I can't really call it a dive bar, with the selections they have on tap. They have the usual suspects, but then they also have a few different seasonal, and crafts in the mix to indulge in. Their liquor selections were OK , I saw they had one of the Bourbons I enjoy so this was good enough for me. I had the pleasure of having Miss Megan as a bartender who showed a great deal of patience with the ongoing crowd. Our drinks never saw the bottom of the glass, that right there makes you want to come back as a repeat. With the orders being shouted out, she never faulted, in and out basically. Brewers has plenty of TVs placed at great angle points so you will never miss what's going on. Ample seating around the bar with tables located in the back. These guys also have a touch screen juke box with a pool table. Now lets just talk about the gaming part of it. Yes they do have the regular touch screens at the bar, the pool table where it was non stop, along with the "Pinball Wizards" . What they also have is a classic from the 80's in here. MISS PACMAN!! yes I know, that single joystick is all you need to reclaim your childhood again, but with a libation this time. What they now need and they do have the space for is a shuffle board table, they get this bad boy in here now we're talking. The bathroom was a little weird that had a chemical cleaning agent smell to it, well the men's room at least. Oh how I love that scented ammonia shot to the senses. I did enjoy the the fact that they had a wash sink / tub next to the urinal (sarcasm) . You know how you read in a review that this is a friendly neighborhood spot? Well, this truly is and we both loved it. It's a fun divey spot with cheap beer and a great crowd. A pool table in the back and some serious arm wrestlers at the bar. I accidentally took a woman's seat and we jokingly decided to arm wrestle for it, only we really did end up arm wrestling and she was some serious competition! Beer was cheap and cold, served fast, and the shots were big. Parking is on the street and the bar can be a bit crowded but like I said everyone is friendly and just looking for a good time. Stopped in for the first time in search of a decent pinball machine. Really liked this place! Atmosphere was lively; jukebox was standard classic rock fare played at a reasonable level. (we never did hear what we played, though) The pinball machine turned out to be a very nice Theater of Magic! Also has a shooting machine and a pool table. We (over) ordered a variety of food: steak quessidias, oinion rings, chili fries. All good, with the steak Qs being a standout. Bartender was friendly, too. Driving down Haddon Ave, you can't help but notice the sign for Brewers Towne Tavern. Its big, its blue, and the westbound traffic pattern forces you to go in the lane closest to it! It's one if my favorite spots in the Westmont/Collingswood/Haddonfield area. Like Goldilocks and the Three Bears, the Irish Mile, PJ Whelihans, and Keg & Kitchen and are too crowded, too much money, too loud, and too inattentive. Brewers on the other hand is juuuust right. Now as my friends live in Collingswood, we usually walk and don't have to worry about parking. However, during rain, drizzling, extreme cold, regular cold, and snow, driving is the choice. Parking is only the street parking on Haddon Ave, which is tough during the day. Luckily, the PATCO and it's large parking lot is also right around the corner. Walking up the steps and through the door of Brewers puts you right at the bar. If you're with a small group, grab a seat at the bar and meet some new people. If you're in a larger group, walk past the pool tables and grab one of the tables in the back. The cook on duty is the one who usually takes your orders. You'll notice Brewers has all the essentials a dive bar needs - a TV (don't touch the remote!), two arcade machines (one is Pacman), a pinball machine, a jukebox, and a pool table. Drinks are not the cheapest around, but still very cheap, especially in the "hipster-ritzy" Haddon Ave Strip. I'm pretty sure I got some $2.50 PBRs last time, but I can't remember the other beer prices. Domestic bottled beers are $3.25 though, just how I like them! The last time we were here, I managed to pull my group out if the 1-hour wait we were stuck in for a table at the Pour House. My friends were hungry and irritable, but I told them of a fantastic Chicken Parmesan sandwich ($6.50) I had back in October, which somehow convinced them to head over to Brewers. When we got our table (big group), they ordered buffalo chicken wraps ($7.50), mozzarella sticks ($6.00), and a few other things that seemed to make them happy. The prices are literally half of what you'd pay for food at Keg & Kitchen too. Also despite other reviewers saying this, Brewers DOES accept credit cards at both the bar and table! I have to say I would def go back for bar food, however,NOT the nachos. Im not sure if they ran out of chips or if this was the norm but they cut soft shell taco wraps in half and fried them and then piled the nacho goodness on top.. except this was not good at all, the "chips" tasted like oil and grease and some where green so I am assuming they were spinach??. Not what I was looking for in nachos . This is a local watering hole that I have definitely enjoyed drinking from. The crowd is very chill for the most part. I'm from the west coast where PBR is popular, mainly cause its cheap, guess what, its cheap on the east coast too, $2.25 a pint. Thursdays is the night to go, $3.25 for Sam Adams Boston Lager or Seasonal. Wings on Thursays, which are rediculously delicious and large are half off at $3.75. 3.5 stars. I went in here last night with a buddy of mine. Its a short walk from the Westmont PATCO station. From the outside, it looks like any other neighborhood bar. On the inside they have a square bar and restaurant seating in the back. Whats nice about the restaurant seating in the back is that they have nice sized flat screens on either side, so whether you are facing towards the entrance or away from the entrance you still can watch the TV, which would be useful during sports games. I ordered a Long Trail Stout, which evidently is a Coffee stout and a Double Cheeseburger with bacon. The beer was excellent and the waitress delivered it pretty fast. The burger came out just like I ordered it, medium. It was tasty and very thick. I had to stretch to fit it in my piehole. The fries that accompanied it were pretty decent and fairly crispy. Service was good. The atmosphere was very relaxed. They had Allman Brothers playing most of the time we were there, which was nice because I haven't listened to them in a while. I'll have to check out the jukebox and see what else they have when I come back. Next time I"l try some of the other beers from their long list. Very nice spot to hang out. read more

Went here to meet up with some friends. Came in, it was lively, crowd seemed kinda young, got a divey vibe from the place. Sat down with my friends, who had been drinking there for awhile, sat for 15 minutes next to my friends, not once did the bar tender acknowledge I was there. 10 more minutes go by, and my friends are like "dude, you still haven't been served? What's going on?". My one friend brings it to my attention, that I'm the only colored person in the bar. I'm not one to play the "race card" but it quickly became evident that this variable could have been the reason I wasn't being served. My friends(who are all white) test this hypothesis. They finish their beers, sure enough, the bar tender comes right over, takes there order, still doesn't acknowledge my presence. At that point, my one friend orders a beer for me, I lean over and hand the bartender( typical generation - Xer with an ex-cop appearance) my card, he glares at me, and I glared right back and told him firmly "open, and close it". My friends notice this interaction, and suggest we leave, so as to not cause any trouble, we leave and go to the Irish Mile. It's a shame, because the bar itself is nice and is in a sweet location. But hey, if my money is not good enough for them, there are plenty of other bars where it is. read more

I love this place. I've been coming here for years. Awesome wings and Thursdays is 50 cent wings night. I love the hot garlic and Chipotle honey wings. I absolutely love the soup. Soups are freshly made and there's a different one every week. Favorite soups: Buffalo Chicken, Chicken Noodle, & Cream of Broccoli. Great Staff, and friendly people. Why have I waited this long to go to Brewer's??? We went here Friday, and it's just a cool, laid back bar. The bartenders were really nice and helpful, you were NEVER with an empty glass, and while their beer list isn't great, I'm happy any time I can get a $4 Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. We got 10 wings, hot, and they were great...not the best I've had around here, as Chris from Forno described them, but definitely top three. The sauce was spicy and tangy, they were perfectly fried with the right amount of batter, and they were meaty. Too often you get tiny little wings, but these were a really good size. I got a cheesesteak with sauteed broccoli rabe and provolone, and it was delicious. Meghan C got a really good chicken quesodilla, which I stole a few bites of, and I enjoyed the hell out of it. Stopped in this place last night to play some pool and grab a beer. What a fun little dive bar! The pool table was small, but it was situated in the space perfectly. There was enough room to walk around and get the shot without jamming the pool stick into the wall. Not many bars, even the higher-end ones, have a good pool space - kudos! Drink-wise I went with the Coney Island Hard Root beer. It was very sweet but I enjoyed it. One of the patrons told me that the "Not your Father's Root beer" was better, and he actually bought one so I could try it! It seems like the kind of place where most of the people are regulars, and I have come to find that in those cases the service can either be a hit or miss. In this case it was a hit! There was a huge party of people in the back room watching the Phillies, so I wasn't able to try the wings because the kitchen was backed up, but they smelled really good! Brewers is INCREDIBLE. This has quickly become our new favorite dive bar. I agree with Christopher R., this place exceeded my expectations completely!!!! The patrons are awesome - everyone is jovial and friendly. They have a jukebox, pinball machine, video games, and more. The bartenders are personable (ask Katie to make you her new drink - Summer Blue) and you feel as though they're old family friends. The drinks are well priced and apparently the food is delicious. I am a huge fan of a good dive bar but this place just didn't do it for me. Admittedly, I was there at an odd hour of the day on a weekday but the vibe in here wouldn't have me running back - it just wasn't welcoming. We walked in the door and everyone in the place turned to look at us, not in that "who is this?" kind of way but more like "what the hell are you doing here?" It was me and 2 friends stopping for a drink before hoping the train home. The place is definitely convenient to the PATCO - earning a star for that alone. The bartender was okay but the bar wasn't stocked with even some of the most basic of items - not sure how you don't have Captain Morgan. She seemed bored (ok, I would be too with only 6 customers there) but seemed put off by us trying to make small talk with her. went to this bar for the first time ever last night and boy was my first impression absolutely a shit show. it was packed from st pattys bar crawl which is totally fine, but once I finally got a bartenders attention, i asked for 3 tequila pineapples (easy drink with ice and 2 ingredients). this old head bartender spills one of the drinks while making the 3, which really was no big deal. But then the turn happens when he then GRABS the ice on the bar that fell out with his DIRTY HANDS and puts it back in the same cup. then proceeds to top off the ice he just put back in my cup with new ice and makes the drink again WITHOUT NEW ICE. so me being absolutely repulsed asked for that ONE to be remade and this rude ass acts like I'm making a big deal and refuses to remake it because "he's too busy for that." HUHHHH??? your grimey ass hands touched what I'm about to drink, so yeah i want a god damn new one. Best dive bar in S. Jersey! This is my favorite local dive bar. Please don't take the term dive bar as an insult. This place has the best gourmet burgers around and has some surprisingly upscale salads as well. The food prices cannot be beat and they have a wide selection of beers on tap. Why do I call this a dive bar? Well, you certainly do not need to get dressed up to impress anyone here. It is totally unpretentious albeit being very close to Haddonfield.
