Nice local bar. Friendly staff. Cheap beers. Pool table and sports on the TV. Good times.

Outdoor bar that has become almost a full fledged neighborhood nuisance. It used to be the immediate neighbors were only treated to night noise and air pollution from a few cig toting millennials out in front of the intersection, but now that sidewalk tables have been added, the congregation never leaves and has expanded to trashing at least two adjacent properties with plastic party cups and aluminum cans, strewn across the sidewalk and all the way across the street to the satellite parking, in addition to all of the stray cigs everywhere. Because the proprietor won't clean up after a shift, or do anything that resembles curbing its customer behavior, multiple letters have been left on the door by irate neighbors about the trashed sidewalks, to little or no avail. New management has slapped some new, blue siding on the place, which was a long overdue face-lift as it was often thought of merely as the town eyesore. They seem like they should be the type to want to have some semblance of pride in their investment, but the overall manifestation of that still has been lacking. Their interior renovation is ongoing which promises to add more comfortable and spacious seating. However, their having done away with acceptance of credit cards, and the departure from a once popular daily lunch special, makes this bar not worth it to even return to a second time. It offers nothing substantive to earn a loyal following. To the degree that I once felt welcome in the establishment as a home base for HT locals (their motto was "where friends meet"), I gotta say this is pretty much a last ditch option in a town that already has quite a vibrant bar/restaurant scene, by which this location has no longer seems keen on measuring up.

Truth be told it's a dive where regulars throw back drinks, play pool, eat greasy food and watch sports. You can totally come here in sweat pants and unshowered if that's your deal. The bartender was friendly. The greasy food is def not even worth mentioning. Parking? Good luck, Amigo.

Driving down Haddon Ave, you can't help but notice the sign for Brewers Towne Tavern. Its big, its blue, and the westbound traffic pattern forces you to go in the lane closest to it! It's one if my favorite spots in the Westmont/Collingswood/Haddonfield area. Like Goldilocks and the Three Bears, the Irish Mile, PJ Whelihans, and Keg & Kitchen and are too crowded, too much money, too loud, and too inattentive. Brewers on the other hand is juuuust right. Now as my friends live in Collingswood, we usually walk and don't have to worry about parking. However, during rain, drizzling, extreme cold, regular cold, and snow, driving is the choice. Parking is only the street parking on Haddon Ave, which is tough during the day. Luckily, the PATCO and it's large parking lot is also right around the corner. Walking up the steps and through the door of Brewers puts you right at the bar. If you're with a small group, grab a seat at the bar and meet some new people. If you're in a larger group, walk past the pool tables and grab one of the tables in the back. The cook on duty is the one who usually takes your orders. You'll notice Brewers has all the essentials a dive bar needs - a TV (don't touch the remote!), two arcade machines (one is Pacman), a pinball machine, a jukebox, and a pool table. Drinks are not the cheapest around, but still very cheap, especially in the "hipster-ritzy" Haddon Ave Strip. I'm pretty sure I got some $2.50 PBRs last time, but I can't remember the other beer prices. Domestic bottled beers are $3.25 though, just how I like them! The last time we were here, I managed to pull my group out if the 1-hour wait we were stuck in for a table at the Pour House. My friends were hungry and irritable, but I told them of a fantastic Chicken Parmesan sandwich ($6.50) I had back in October, which somehow convinced them to head over to Brewers. When we got our table (big group), they ordered buffalo chicken wraps ($7.50), mozzarella sticks ($6.00), and a few other things that seemed to make them happy. The prices are literally half of what you'd pay for food at Keg & Kitchen too. Also despite other reviewers saying this, Brewers DOES accept credit cards at both the bar and table! So if you're looking for a chill place with cheap drinks and tasty cheap food, I recommend taking your cheap friends to Brewers Towne Tavern.

I learned later that this restaurant has been around since the early to mid 1900's. Plenty of parking in a large open lot. The place is very large and has one of the longest bars I've seen. The wood is very dark and you can see the chefs cooking over the hearth. They don't take reservations and won't see you until your entire party is there. One of the things I liked for our party of 10 was they had no problems with seating as they also have many large round tables. For mixed drinks, they make them pretty big and potent. For my martini, they sent back an extra glass. They also had great bleu cheese stuffed olives. We ordered onion rings (8 large to an order) and fried zucchini. The onion ring I had was pretty good. I didn't have the fried zucchini but heard it was also pretty good. Other than the light fare items, all dinners come with their salad bar which has both iceberg lettuce and Caesar Salad along with many fixings as well as cheeses and bread. I had the Baked Seafood Platter which came with scallops, shrimp, Clam Casino (without the shell), Maryland crab cake and a small lobster tail for $49.99. My wife had the baked chicken breast which she said was quite dry. The dining area is quite large and reminds me of the restaurants at a casino. Some in our group said it reminds them of Medieval Times due to the dark wood vibe. While I thought it was a bit pricey, I would still come back and try their signature steaks or prime rib.

You definitely get your money's worth, and you should not drive afterward. (I did not.)

One of the most fun things on the menu is their chicken "thumbs," which are shaped like little hands -- I wish I took a picture because they're great and definitely something you don't see everywhere. Service can be a little hit or miss, but not because the staff isn't working hard -- it's a big place and when it gets busy, it really gets busy, and they sometimes seem a bit understaffed for the rush. That said, everyone is always very friendly, which makes a big difference and keeps the experience positive. They also have a huge bar with several beers on tap, great specialty drinks, and drink specials, so it's a great place to hang out with friends and have a good time. Overall, definitely worth a visit. Just maybe don't go if you're in a big rush -- go when you have time to relax, enjoy the atmosphere, and have a good meal.

My foodie bestie and I added Kid Rips to our must try list years ago and finally got around to…read moretrying it. Parking was a challenge on a Friday night as every space was full and turning around in the back lot involves making a k turn around the other vehicles who are also looking for a spot. We ended up parking down the street and walking over. We were seated immediately, as the bar has ample seating, both high tops and regular tables. My bff wasn't in the mood for a cocktail so we opted for Arnold palmers. Now, I am a HUGE avocado fan and I had heard about their infamous avocado fries so I was super excited about trying them. That may or may not have been the main reason for my visit. The avocado fries are fresh large slices of avocado breaded in panko and fried with a sweet and tangy spicy mayo sauce. I loved them but my bff wasn't as excited. He informed me he isn't a huge fresh avocado fan, so this one is for the avocado lovers. We also opted for the chicken parm rollers which is described as "Chicken mixed with ricotta cheese, herbs and spices rolled in panko breadcrumbs served with house made marinara and shaved parmesan" - they are chicken meatballs. We expected something else and now that we've had them and I re-read the description I'm not sure what we had in mind but it wasn't this. They were just okay. I think if they were placed on a plate with seasoned whipped ricotta and drizzled with pesto it could boost the flavor experience. For our entrees my bff got the chicken strips with the sweet and sassy sauce and I opted for the KO burger. My KO burger was delicious. The seeded brioche bun was buttery and fresh and the burger itself was flavorful. The fries were also fantastic. Fresh cut and sprinkled with a sweet seasoning, I didn't even feel the need to add ketchup or a side of aioli or anything. They were perfect. I didn't try my bffs chicken tenders but the sweet and sassy sauce tasted just like buffalo sauce. Pretty sure it was the wrong sauce but he didn't say anything to our server so that's on us. If you are looking for a bar to hang out and watch sports, get a drink, and have a great burger, I'd recommend this place - but maybe uber there.

At this point I'm starting to wonder if the chickens are real or if I've been the victim of an elaborate prank. Fortunately, the food more than made up for my poultry disappointment. We ordered a couple different wing flavors, including the Honey Mustard and a blueberry-based sauce, and both were excellent. The wings themselves were massive, meaty, and cooked really well. The Honey Mustard had a nice balance of sweetness and tanginess with just enough mustard bite to keep it from feeling overly sweet. The blueberry flavor was surprisingly good too. It had a sweet-tart fruitiness that sounds unusual on paper but worked really well with the smoky, savory wings. Both sauces had plenty of flavor without completely overpowering the chicken. The atmosphere is classic neighborhood pub. Cozy, casual, and the kind of place where people seem comfortable settling in for the whole evening. Downstairs there's a bar and shuffleboard area that definitely attracts a younger crowd. It gets pretty lively and noisy, which adds to the fun if you're there with friends. My only real complaint is that parts of the place felt a little messy. The stairs leading downstairs were sticky, and parts of the basement floor were too. Nothing that ruined the experience, but it was noticeable. The staff, however, were fantastic. Fast, friendly, and personable. Even when things were busy, they kept everything moving and made us feel welcome. Overall, it's a fun spot with great wings, good energy, and a laid-back crowd. Still giving it four stars because I left without seeing a single chicken, and I feel mildly betrayed. But if you're looking for a place to hang out with friends and eat some seriously good wings, it's definitely worth the visit.
