Then the pump didn't stop and it kept pouring gas and it overflowed and went all over my car and all over the floor. was told by an employee to ask the manager for a refund. spoke to the manager she seemed like she really wanted to end the conversation and she refused to give me a refund. This is one of the cheapest gas stations in the area. The only problem is that it can get packed and there are only about 6 pumps so sometimes you have to wait to get out because you are blocked in. Inside is your typical convenience store with drinks, snacks and lottery tickets. read more

This is "my" gas station.. Conveniently located on Ludlam, between Sunset and US1, it's easy to get to. They have the best price around, which is fantastic. My only wish is that they'd have more pumps.. Lately I have to wait to get gas, but it's not horrible. read more

Night. Tired. Streets are still packed with cars. US1 is bumper to bumper... and I realize just then that the needle is on empty, the pup light is on, and the range gauge marks 8 miles to empty. The traffic light turns to red, which makes no difference because we weren't moving anyway. Green again. Gauge jumps to 7 miles range. Forbidden U-turn to the gas station with the $2.49 price tag. Gasbuddy shows the closest station is Tom Thumb... The GPS says turn right to get there. The gauge is on 6 miles range when I arrive while the little pump light keeps staring at me like saying "I'll get you next time"... Turns out, the lucky thing was that this gas station was the cheapest around that area. Think five-to-ten cents difference between the surrounding gas stations and this one ($2.39). I fill the tank. I feel the hunger. Turn around, streets are still bumper to bumper... Decide to grab a bite at the convenience store. How bad can it really be? For the love of everything that's good and sacred in the world, please don't be this stupid. I saw the lone Jamaican patty. it looked like a puppy begging to come home with me, grabbed it, and almost cracked my tooth. The attendant was really nice, though. Talkative, quick and efficient, but all the good service in the world can't fix the trauma and the bad taste of that one attempted bite. Then I looked around. The pastelitos are sad. The hot dogs are as wrinklier than my 96 year old grandmother. This is where food comes to die when it is no longer useful for society. "Oh, they prepare those in the morning shift, I don't know at what time, but it is early in the morning", says the attendant "also, if you want to grab a second drink, we have an offer now and those you're having right now have an offer that for about 30 cents more you can get a second one". So... for gas? all good. for a juice, or a soda, or anything pre-packaged? prices could be better, but go for it, and you can maybe even grab an offer. For a nice conversation while you poison yourself? also good. But stay away from the fossilized food. read more

If it weren't for the fact that I literally live 2 minutes from here and I have a severe dependency on Dutch Masters (which are 2 bucks here!!!! SO WRONG), I would never come back to Tom Thumb. Everything here, other than the gas (which is surprisingly cheap), is triple the price. And their wine and beer selection sucks. And the women who work here are kind of rude. If you're in the area and it's late at night, although I'm not a huge fan of the CVS on Kendall and US1 (everyone who works there chugs grumpy-juice before their shifts), go there. Cheapest gas in South Miami. The staff here has gotten a lot better. They're a lot friendlier now and actually try to move the line faster. Rude clerk! How this person, thin, about 5'5"" and with an attitude, was allowed to direct traffic at the pumps at a stressful time such as now prior to arrival of Hurricane Dorian, is beyond me. I waited patiently in line like everyone else. I saw this guy, wearing a wide-brimmed hat, "directing traffic" at the pumps and doing a lousy job at it. The driver in front of me, ON HIS OWN, drove up to the next available pump and started pumping. Wide-brim person suddenly disappeared. I saw another spot and pulled up. He reappeared and when he saw me, told me to get back in my car and drive away, as I did not wait for him to give his approval. He even threatened me he was going to shut off the pump! Never mind that the guy in front of me drove right in. So I drove around and went back into the station, and parked in the convenience store lot. It wasn't until I pleaded with the guy that he let me gas up. If it weren't for the long lines elsewhere, I would have told him to f off and go somewhere else. I live in Pinecrest and every gas station surrounding the area is extremely overpriced. My solution is to simply cross US1 and fill up at Tom Thumb! Seriously, the gas here is consistently cheaper than any of the other stations near Pinecrest or South Miami. I always fill up here now. The convenience store here is pretty good too. read more
