Big thanks to Tim and the crew at Tomhannock Bicycles. I ordered my bike direct from Specialized and honestly wasn't expecting a whole lot of service when I picked it up. I was pleasantly surprised to have Tim spend around an hour with me going over all the features and care for my new bike as well as ensuring everything was dialed in for me before I left. Best of all, I was invited to ride on their trails. You simply can not beat the level of care and love for the sport that Tim has. They had pulled it out and had it waiting for me, and they still managed to talk me out of it. read more

Best retail experience I've ever had. After shopping around for my first road bike, I went back to Tim in large part specifically because of the service and information I got on my first visit in. It did take a little (lot) longer than expected (they were incredibly busy due to a combination of factors), which could have been frustrating if I were in a hurry. But I actually enjoyed the opportunity to watch Tim and Steve interact with other customers throughout the afternoon. Every question and request was answered fairly and honestly and everyone was treated as a friend. They provided a wealth of information but I never heard a single sales pitch or an attempt to rush somebody despite the frantic pace they were working at to keep up with everyone. They were patient with even the more trying customers I encountered. There are some very good shops in the area but Tomhannock will be #1 out of my mouth whenever I have the opportunity to recommend a place. read more

Absolutely one of the worst experiences. I called ahead to ask if they knew how to repair High end Race bikes.. Steve says the shop is dead.. we're just twitteling our thumbs..OK.. so took the 30-40 min drive out from Albany.. arrived around 4pm.. shop was pretty dead.. Steve said he had the parts to work on my sons Canyon Aeroad Cf SLX 8 Needed some shifter work and indexing.. the shop was a bit disorganized and scattered upon closer inspection.. that always spells trouble..no signs of labor costs or repair costs is also quite disturbing. ..is that legal? anyway he continued on expousing his theory of shifting based on his days as an auto mechanic.. hmm I didnt quite see the connection.. had he mentioned Wilbur or Orville Wright or Henry Ford. ok I get it.. in any case the results after 2 plus hours of repair was unconvincing.. the bike had metal ferret in the tubes on a carbon bike..nah..the shifting was ok.. the fee was$150 plus tax.. a whopping charge for a bike that eventually would need to be re- serviced..and eventually was... by another reputable " certified mechanic" I did call back and ask for Tim the owner. He berated me for not bringing it back and stood by his claim that he repairs all kinds of bikes but this one may have been a challenge. had he been there... well he was not.. and your only wrencher does have a mind of his own and knows his skill level.. I asked for a refund.. He wanted me to stop back in that shop..again.. I didnt think I needed to do that you can just credit my account back.. gave Tim my card details..still after a week no refund.. I di prior call my bank to initiate a dispute,, based on poor quality of ervoce and repair work not performed to standards.. Im awaiting my banks decision..or a credit back from Tim.. then I can cancel the dispute.. so if you want to avoid this scenario and value your Steed..I would Not recommend this shop... I instead went to Nick over Victory Cycle works.. He confirmed my belief that Tomhannock bikes did a real hack job on my sons beloved Canyon.. will I get reimbursed we shall see.. next up BBB report read more

This is a great, old school bike shop with people who love everything about biking. Every time I drop by - and it's the sort of place you will drive out of your way to stop in and just chat for a few - I've been well received and had a good visit. They have been terrific at maintaining the eJoe ebike I bought there last summer through various tire punctures, a broken spoke and other exciting events that are part of the world of pretty tough ebike usage. If anything, they undercharge me for their services, and do so voluntarily and cheerfully. They seem to have a fiercely loyal clientele, and I understand why. Tim has really got something here, and anyone looking for anything with the word Giant on it would be well advised to go see this bunch. read more

I don't know where to start. I was given the TB phone number from a competitor of Tim, the owner. I was visiting from Utah and wanted to rent a bike. Tim had been in the rental biz for a little while but decided to get out of it. When I called him, he didn't just sluff me off...he got curious...wanted to know my story and said "give me your number and I'll see what I can do". Without any expectation of a return call...low and behold..15 minutes later... Tim is on the phone saying he has a bike. Hang on...it gets better!!! I go to get the bike. It's his nephew's bike who is going into the military. (I'm a former Navy man myself so this was a no-brainer). He showed me the bike... a formidable intermediate Giant Defy. All I was interested in was riding. Tim told me there was going to be a benefit ride at Saratoga on Sunday May 19th. 50 miles... $25 cost. You may have a similar ride in your neighborhood so please check out www.braintumor.org. I signed up... met Tim and a bunch of his friends and followers.... Everyone one of them were top-shelf people as you would expect from cyclists. The ride was perfect...great weather and no flats! LOL Bottom line... Tim and TB is one of the best cycle shops I've had the pleasure of going to. He's totally dedicated to the sport and that is reflected in the way he handles his new and existing customers. Highly recommended by me... the Utahn... that will be back next year for the annual 50 miler. read more

I just brought home a bike from Tomhannock Bicycles. I live in Guilderland, a good 45 minute drive from the shop and it was very much worth the drive to buy my bike at Tim's shop. Tim personally spent 3 hours fitting me and making sure I knew how to use every feature and made sure I was getting in and out of my clipless pedals safely before even ringing up my order. Most shops will charge extra for a personalized fitting. At Tim's shop, the fitting is supremely important and comes with the price of the bicycle. My triathlon swim coach sent me to Tomhannock Bicycles, ensuring me that it was special and he was absolutely right. Not only am I thrilled with the bike, but I am looking forward to the group rides and getting tips from Tim. This is an amazing place. Don't miss it. read more

Tim and his crew are great! My experience buying a bike there could not have been better - included a hour-long fitting, an intro lesson on how to clip in and out, and a ton of advice. He also works with a local triathlon club and is often there at practices to help out with whatever athletes need! He works well with all ability levels and makes the experience of buying a bike enjoyable. He also leads weekly bike rides from his shop that my parents really enjoy! I was in the market for a new tri bike a few years ago, and an Ironman triathlete I know immediately referred to Tim and Tomhannock Bicycles. It wasn't the first time I had purchased a bike, but it was the first time anyone ever took that much time and effort to measure me every which way and fit me to the right bike. Tim managed to get me a great deal on a Blue Triad SP that I am still riding today and absolutely love.
