I loved Bathurst Local for all the reasons why someone might dislike it: from the outside and upon entrance, it looks like a grungy dead spot that nobody goes to, but once you go to the karaoke rooms at the back, you'll get a sense of how those characteristics make this spot unique and fun! I went here with several colleagues and we had a blast, poorly singing along to an assortment of hits until 1am on a Thursday night. The system allowed you to select what songs you want to sing along to easily, and the service was fast - someone promptly came along with drinks. All in all, we had a great time, but I could also understand how the hole in the wall feel of this place might not be what everyone is looking for.

The very first day I moved to Toronto in 2015, I was in an apartment around the corner and came here for access to wifi and a glass of wine to wind down after a long day of driving. I was charmed by the cozy interior (and the cheese boards). I made it a regular spot for coffee or cocktails until I moved up to Bloor and discovered the OG location, Northwood. Years later, I got a job in the neighbourhood and made Northern Belle our after-work watering hole. Our friendly banter with Brian the bartender combined with the onset of summer made Northern Belle's patio our go-to. Now, the Belle is a little out of the way but worth the wander for a great cocktail, a tasty snack, and a trip down memory lane. :)

Made resos way in advance to the holidays, got seated at a large sofa booth and had to share the table/ seating with another party. Not an issue at all! It's cozy and nice in there but boy, was it dark! I really couldn't see the menu with their small candle light and had to use my phone flashlight instead (haha!). Cooked with maple and dijon, topped with fennel and puffed tapioca. Great sharing vegetable dish. Scotch egg 5/5 - Never had a Scotch egg before and loved it. It's a soft boiled egg in the middle, coated with sage and onion stuffed pork and has a fried exterior. The mix of textures really had a delicious mouth feel to it. Hickory smoked olives 5/5 - Can't go wrong with olives, especially when they are smoked and topped with some citrus and herbs. Grilled steak diane 5/5 - A Picanha steak, with mushrooms, worcestershire, brandy, cream and apricot. The sauce that came with this steak was the winner of it all. Delicious, well balanced flavours. Everything here was really well cooked with delicious flavours all around. Dishes are tapas style so you can expect them to be small and shared. Receipt came in a cute envelope with a sealed stamp - the details were great! Can't wait to come back here to try more things in the future!

This must be the place!…read more Our first trip to Toronto and boy did we have fun. From delicious food to sipping wine, and everything in between, Toronto was a city to explore. Ladybug Wine Bar is a cute but also sophisticated wine bar located on King Street, steps away from shopping and restaurants. We stopped in here on a snowy Sunday before our flight home. They also serve Sunday Brunch. We grabbed a few open seats at the comfy bar. They do not offer wine flights, which made this experience pretty darn expensive but SOOOO worth it. We had such a fun time and the people working were so nice, we honeslty did not want to leave. They were willing to help with our selections. We actually ordered all their Reds by the glass. I know, but there were only about 6 and we had to try them all. I like to say "go big or go home" LOL! We loved almost all except for maybe a few. We ended up also ordering a charcuterie while we sip. And of course I brought a bottle home with me.
