Brought some pants in that needed hemming for length. I wanted a wide hem. The shopkeeper took the appropriate measurements, took my order and instructed me to return in one week. What a blessing! This wonderful woman saved my daughter's prom night. I ordered her dress on-line and it didn't get here until the week before her prom. It needed a hem and I started frantically calling every seamstress in town. Most didn't even answer but, I called Tommy the tailor and this wonderful woman warned me that she had to see the dress but she would try to do it if I brought it in. She ended up doing the job for us. She had it done in four days despite the fact that she was completely swamped and was even working on trying to get alterations done for her own daughter's wedding dress, which was just a few weeks away. The dress looked perfect, the price was completely reasonable and she was so kind to us. I will never forget what she did for my daughter. I would recommend her for any job. read more

Fast, efficient service. I went in to fix a seam that had begun to run, the woman sewed it back together right then and there. She didn't charge me either. I'd probably have to say that this review should not be based on more elaborate or harder tasks but my friend who got her prom dress done here said she was pleased with the results. read more

I took my designer "distressed" jeans in, due to a large hole in the knee. They did a fantastic job maintaining the distressed look, while repairing the hole with a lovely patch job. I took some loose pants in to have them nipped in the back, because they had that annoying "gap". She ended up basically taking in the side seams of all the pants, and re-sewing them so that they were super tight waisted.Yes - she ripped apart my pants, and completely re-seamed them on the sides! Far too significant of an alteration as far as I'm concerned, because now none of the pants fit properly! I was better off with them being saggy in the back. And for the record, I've taken pants to other tailors for the same issue with the gap in the back, and they simply put a small dart in the back seam, so I know that what this tailor did to my pants is not typical. I give 2 stars instead of just 1 because she was recommended to me, so I know that she must do a decent job on stuff; I'd suggest being very specific about what you want so that she doesn't go overboard like she did to my poor pants. read more

We brought my husband's jacket here for a minor repair and never got a call to pick it up. We were in the middle of a move and other major life transitions and didn't remember until 2months later and decided not to try for a refund. I'm giving two stars since we didn't follow up so I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt that they might. But this is the second alteration shop that we straight up didn't get our clothing item back from. I want to go back to the kind tailor in my home town and thank her for wonderful years of dependably not only getting my clothes back but in improved condition. I'm terrible at returning clothes, so when I ordered a blazer that was too large, I was pretty bummed about it. The blazer was a comfy material and had really nice flattering angles, but I was just swimming in it. After my boss recommended The Tommy Tailor, I figured I should check it out. I've never had my clothes tailored before, so this was a new experience for me. Tommy's is a tiny hole in the wall on railroad. I just walked in and saw the husband and wife team working away. They told me to put the blazer on, took a constructive look, pinned the sleeves in a few spaces, and marked it up with some chalk. That was it! It took less than 5 mins of fitting. I was skeptical cause I didn't think they took enough information to know how to fit it. They told me to come back in a week and sure enough, my blazer was finished. I tried it on for them and the blazer fits me perfectly! Its still a bit big, but the sleeves are tighter, and everything looks a lot better. The best part is that all that only cost $20, including tip! I will be getting my clothes tailored more often, and I will absolutely be supporting Tommy's from now on. I brought two pairs of pants to this facility as the hem at the bottom of the pant legs were coming undone. They were prompt in repairing the pants, however they had missed a section which I was investigating right outside their door. The husband came out to make sure I was satisfied with the repair, and as I pointed out the flaw, he happily fixed it. Both husband and wife were very polite.
