We were originally scheduled to do a sunset sail from San Francisco, but was called and emailed the week before to either book the battle sail from Oakland instead (same day and time, at no additional cost) or rebook for Sunday from SF. We chose the battle sail since it was more convenient for us anyways. The sail itself was really fun and my son had a blast. The crew was incredibly helpful and kind to him, answering his questions and letting him help with things like coiling rope and raising the sails. They had some great stories and explained some of what they did. Thank you to the crew for being so awesome!!

Went on this tour when visiting Olympic National Park. Who knew there were rainforests in the US!!…read moreThis is a 4 hour tour lead by a National Park guide so not only is it informative, it is affordable! $35 for a 4 hour tour, not a bad deal! It's also the only tour of it's type in the area. You can bring snacks and drinks on the tour van so it's very relaxing. Anyways, this tour starts at Lake Quinault Lodge. On our tour, there were only 6 people, so it was like a private tour! The rainforest is beautiful and being driving around in AC beats driving your own car on the rough road. The guide stops at lots of waterfalls and sights and that you would not know to stop at otherwise. There is also a bathroom break and we stopped at one of the homesteads to explore. I would recommend this tour to anyone visiting Olympic National Park. It's a great and easy way to see the rainforest. Be aware that there are bugs in the rainforest and you can get bitten like me! Bring your bug spray!

So much great information about the river and shipping!!! We saw a harbor seal, sea lions, a bald eagle, a crane and lots of seagulls and other birds. It was a little chilly so we were glad for our coats, hats and gloves. Watching from below wouldn't have been nearly as fun as being up on the deck. I have two suggestions for improvement and would have given 5 stars: 1. The boat needs some tidying up. Even if someone lives here sometimes, put things away, dust, vacuum, etc. so the first impression upon boarding isn't one of entering a messy dorm room. 2. Offer bottled water or some sort of light snack and beverage. It's a 3 hour trip. Sure we brought our own but it would be a nice touch. I imagine some of the local companies would give you a deal to offer their products and help spread the word about their delicious beer, chocolate, baked goods, etc. Well worth the cost and a great way to really see Astoria and understand this river town.

It's creepy under the bridge, so it's probably better for people who appreciate this type of vibe and views of the water. There's random goose poop throughout the park and under the bridge. I had to find out the hard way after my dog rubbed on some in the grass. Luckily, they have a big open garbage can here. The only parking is on the street in front of houses.
