We went on a 3 hour tour with Captain Bruce on Saturday morning and thoroughly enjoyed it. He was funny and super knowledgeable without feeling overdone tour guide-like. So much great information about the river and shipping!!! We saw a harbor seal, sea lions, a bald eagle, a crane and lots of seagulls and other birds. It was a little chilly so we were glad for our coats, hats and gloves. Watching from below wouldn't have been nearly as fun as being up on the deck. I have two suggestions for improvement and would have given 5 stars: 1. The boat needs some tidying up. Even if someone lives here sometimes, put things away, dust, vacuum, etc. so the first impression upon boarding isn't one of entering a messy dorm room. 2. Offer bottled water or some sort of light snack and beverage. It's a 3 hour trip. Sure we brought our own but it would be a nice touch. I imagine some of the local companies would give you a deal to offer their products and help spread the word about their delicious beer, chocolate, baked goods, etc. Well worth the cost and a great way to really see Astoria and understand this river town. read more

Captain Bruce gave us the best tour of the Columbia and the John Day river. He is knowledgeable and very personalable. You can't go wrong with this tour. Glad we only had 4 people on the boat as 6 would have been to crowded in this covid world we live in. read more

My husband and I took the Columbia river boat tour with Captain Bruce. We really enjoyed the tour. Captain Bruce was filled with information about the area. We saw Bald eagles , seals and giant ships up close. We loved the little insider stories he told. You can tell that he is very experienced. We really encourage everyone to take this tour. read more

If you are visiting Astoria this is a must! Great tour. Captain Chris is very friendly, knowledgeable tour guide. His boat is very clean and welcoming. Great time, Chris was great as a story teller, the boat was fun, and the views and places we visited were amazing. My wife and I would definitely do this again, and would bring family and friends. Great for a romantic date night, or just a group event for friends, family, networking. I would recommend this even for locals--you get unique views and perspective. We got close up to some of the big ships, and learned about some of the local maritime history. Well worth the money, highly recommended. read more

Most definitely NOT worth $125.00 per person for a 3 hour tour. I would be hesitant to pay $50.00. The boat was shabby and unkimp. It looked like a college dorm room. Capt. Bruce seemed like he'd rather be somewhere else, telling tales of relationship woes. Stay away from Eco Tours! Pay a little more for a fishing charter. At least you'll come home with some salmon. Christopher and his wife were quite friendly, fun, and informative. They both knew so much about the Columbia River, the banks, the treacherous areas, and the wildlife. It was truly magical to go with them on the sunset tour, as it was my honeymoon. Truly worth it, for all those who can handle a boat ride! read more

A must-do if you're visiting beautiful Astoria. I highly recommend the three-hour tour. Chris is a great captain - skilled, knowledgeable, and friendly. The scenery is spectacular, and we saw lots of wildlife. We enjoyed up-close views of giant sea-going ships, pilot boats, happily grunting sea lions, and quaint houseboats. The 40-foot boat is beautifully maintained and comfortable. Live a little, and get out onto the mighty Columbia River! read more

Tried to make a reservation for a 2 hour tour for the 6 of us. Chris said that since it was a party of 6, we would have the whole boat to ourselves but the only option was a 3 hour tour so we went with that. The actual tour ended up being 2.5 hours. Chris acknowledged that he only took us out for 2.5 hours but insisted that we still pay for 3 hours. What a ripoff! read more
