Since 2010, I had posted 3 real experiences of great service and care of my auto + customer service and cost fairness. EACH TIME, YELP CONVENIENTLY DELETED THE POSITIVE POST. I had saved the text of the posting to print and mail to the owners. This Yelp injustice is well known to businesses and I strongly condemn your practice. ================================================== so, recently in 2018, our '00 Altima which had a good low mileage rebuilt engine installed by Tommy's in 2015 or so, had to be checked for safety and operational approval before selling. They took my car in early a.m. and gave a verbal estimate for safety point checks and any trouble shooting if needed. I was given a ride to my local appointment by the waterfront cafe and promptly received a call late afternoon upon completion of work on our car. A broken tail light was fixed along with a replaced windshield wiper that was bad (!) and a recommendation for tires for the front wheels. Our car was sold that week and the buyer was pleased with the car 18 y.o. but engine felt like a reliable, humming good 5 y.o. car -- the buyer who was a Veteran was pleased to switch mechanics to Tommy's also because he is a Veteran and helps folks where ever he can. I recommend Tommy's Auto to any one with an automobile in their family. For those with some concerns or simpler complaints, give them a second chance and/or state your case respectfully, but clearly -- may be they will work it out. read more

My fiancée and I were driving back home from Sacramento when around Vallejo, our car started to make odd noises and sounds. He thought it might be the transmission & did not want to risk our safety by continuing to drive. However, it was already past 8PM, so we decided it would be safer to sleep in the car & see a mechanic as soon as we woke up the next morning. After an awful night's rest, we were met with another obstacle- actually finding a mechanic who could take a look at our car that day. After going to 5-6 different shops around Vallejo, someone referred us to Tommy's Auto Repair. Thank goodness we went. He not only took the time to speak to my fiancée about what was happening with the vehicle, but took the time to actually take it for a drive to assess for himself what was occurring. Turns out it was only the noise of a ladder we had strapped to the top of our SUV shaking in the wind! There were some mechanical issues with our transmission which he pointed out, but he reassured us that we were in no danger of driving home. I would wholeheartedly recommend Tommy's Auto Repair to anyone who lives in the area & has not been to him, or to anyone in the area in need of a mechanic. I have been to plenty of different mechanics. What made Tommy stand out was his genuine care for us, attention to the vehicle, & honesty in regards to what needed to be done. He could have been a sleazy mechanic by telling us that we could not drive without a lot of work done. I recently went to Tommy's Auto Repair for a repair and was very disappointed with the service I received from "Niko" the manager. I was quoted one price ( I confirmed this price twice) and when I returned to pick up my car I was asked to pay a much higher price than I originally agreed to. When I asked Nico if he thought this was fair he got extremely upset and quite hostile. When things began to get out of hand he insisted that he's "not going to argue with me" but continued to argue with me...He argued that I "don't understand how mechanics work" (In his defense, this I don't know much about mechanics which is why I brought my car into their mechanics shop, I'm not a mechanic I am a Medical Healthcare Provider, I take care of people not cars...) I may not be a mechanic but I have common sense, several college degrees, and I understand that in order for a mechanic to change prices they MUST have CONSENT from the consumer (verbal or written). They can't take it upon themselves to unilaterally alter the contract WITHOUT consent from the consumer and expect to put the extra charges on the unexpecting consumer. This is unethical and unreasonable. Needless to say I won't be back here. Very disappointed. Don't go here no matter how desperate you are please go somewhere else. read more

I've literally never, ever wrote a yelp review before, but the service was so bad I'd like to warn anybody from coming here. Mike charged me 100 dollars to give me a paper that had the words trouble, needed, and reverse spelled wrong. I went in there for diagnostics, but all he really did was run through the codes that popped up on my car and gave me a printed out form of them. I called another auto shop and explained to them what happened to me there and they agreed they should of provided me with more information about what was wrong with my car and not just give me the codes. Also at the end they refused to take my debit card so I had to pull out cash. There was no cash only sign nor did they warn me before hand that they couldn't take my card. If I used my card I could of at least reported to my bank to get my money back, but they were smart on their part to just take my cash. I'm sure they've been doing this long enough to know how to properly scam people. Judging by their arrogant response to another guest complaint on here shows they're not the nicest of people to address your concerns with. I know I'm young, I know I'm a female, and I know I know nothing about cars.. but come on Mike it's 2017 you don't have spell check on your work computer?? Or at least ask Siri. I'm sure you've taken enough money from people to get yourself an Iphone. I don't know anything about cars, but I'm not illiterate. read more

Honestly, these guys pissed me off. First, he's using racial slurs and making gay jokes. Then, my cars in the shop for a month and a half for simple shit. You call this guy, and maybe a third of the time he answers. If he tells you he will call you back, he never will. Every time I could get a hold of him, he would tell me, "I'll call you later today with info" and never would. He quoted $600 but charged $900 and to top it all off, the fuck'n car barely made it home before dying on me. Of course I call, Mike says he'll come by to look at it, sets up a day and time, and doesn't show - big surprise. I keep calling over the next week and finally get a response where he tells me he'll have it towed to the shop, we set up a time, no show again. It's now been 3 months since initially bringing the car in and I'm not much closer to having it fixed. Give your money to someone better y'all, Tommy's isn't worth it. read more

Few months ago I took my ford f250 To this shop To get some repairs in the carburetor and pass smog. they give me an estimate of $1500 to fix it and pass the smog. After month and a half not hearing from them i hat to call almost every day to put pressure on them because my tags had almost expire. Finally after two months I got to pick up back barely running no smog. I decided to take it to a shop in Napa.I had a long conversation with the head mechanic at the Napa shop and he show me everything that was wrong with the truck apparently they switch the carburetor all the carburetor vacuum lines have been hooked up backwards or mixed up. He show me a couple pieces from the carburetor that have recently been broken. Long story short I had to pay tommys shop to steal my carburetor, damage vacuum lines and waste my time. I am not trying to get my money back I know they won't pay me back. And if you're reading this review please do yourself a favor and take your vihecle to other mechanic. I've been getting my cars repaired by Mike since 2013. He is very knowledgeable in this line of work and trustworthy. I now live over an hour from him, but I still take my cars to him. He's been able to help me with different brand cars, Ford commercial van, Volkswagen cabriolet, chevy truck, chevy Astro van, Mercedes CLS 500. I feel safe when Mike works on my cars. These guys are con artists. If you don't know anything about cars they will rob you blind! I found this out the hard way, I blew a head gasket and had them put a new engine in. They fabricated a host of other problems that I knew were made up. They just saw a young guy who they thought was an idiot. A week after the engine was installed I blew a fuel injector line because they never put a gasket in the top manifold and they refused that they were responsible. Tommy inspected a 2005 Toyota Corolla that I was going to buy. He gave a detailed report. He is very friendly and knowledgeable.

Never again. Never. I purchased a used car from a dealership and was told by my warranty company to take it here when I had problems. Well, every single day fr three weeks I tried. They always had a reason why they couldn't takes it. Even though there where seven other mechanics all sitting and staring at a wall. When the finally did take it in and described my problem, a computer malfunction or possible gauge malfunction, they said no. It had to be the fuel pump. I said okay and they replaced it. Right in front of me the blatantly lied to my warranty company and claimed I never dropped it off. Well not even a day later the problem contained and my car thought it was out of gas and I was stranded at eight o'clock at night alone. In the dark. After finally getting it home with the help of several friends, I brought it back the next day. Their response to y issue? "This sounds suspicious. This STORY is pretty convienant." Excuse me? So I raced to y dealership and even they were fed up with Tommys. Never go here! read more
