The facility itself is undeniably state-of-the-art--spotless, modern, and staffed by pleasant, professional front-desk personnel. Unfortunately, my experience with the physicians was far less impressive. I was repeatedly passed from one doctor to another within the same practice, each citing a different area of specialization. Rather than coordinated care, the process felt inefficient and, frankly, transactional--almost as if each referral was designed to secure another slice of the insurance reimbursement. After seeing nearly every doctor in the office, I was inexplicably routed back to the first one. At that point, it was clear no one had a definitive understanding of my condition. Adding to the frustration, the practice billed my medical insurance instead of my eye insurance, creating yet another unnecessary complication. Thankfully, after switching insurance providers, I visited a different ophthalmologist who accurately diagnosed and resolved the issue in just two appointments. It's disappointing that a practice with such polished facilities and advanced equipment fell short where it mattered most: precise diagnosis, continuity of care, and competent billing. read more

As a pilot, my vision and overall eye health are critically important not only to to myself and my passengers, but to my fellow aviators as well. Because of this, I spent quite a bit of time researching eye doctors when I moved to beautiful Palm Coast, Florida. Based on several recommendations, I made an appointment with Tomoka Eye Associates. Before I was even seen, I was impressed. Their new patient paperwork was quite extensive and thorough. More thorough, in fact, than any eye doctor I've ever been to. These folks are serious about your eye health! As a former RN, I can attest to the fact that a person's overall health can directly affect their eye health. Because of this, it is imperative to ask lots of health questions of new patients. I recommend you pick up the new patient paperwork BEFORE your appointment, so that you can properly fill it out ahead of time. If you cannot pick it up, I'm sure they can mail it to you. With my paperwork already filled out, I was taken back very quickly when I checked in for my appointment. All the staff here were incredibly friendly and helpful. Sandy did much of my initial testing (eye pressure, etc (don't worry.....these folks DO NOT use the "puff of air" to test the pressure in your eyes!) - she was super friendly, and compassionate. Sandy was also very patient going through the lenses.....which is better - number one or number two?.....lots of fun! When Sandy was done prepping my eyes with dilating drops, she took me back to meet with the doctor. Dr. Schoeler was friendly, personable, and had a great bedside manner. She took lots of time not only with checking my eyes, but with getting to know me as a new patient. She was not rushed, and answered all of my questions and concerns about getting older.....sigh. Instead of billing my vision insurance, they billed my medical which, of course, did not pay for my routine eye exam. They only had the medical card due to my having an eye infection last year. This visit was a simple routine annual eye exam which is covered entirely by my vision insurance. I now owe them a substantial amount of money for what should have been covered entirely by my vision insurance. Their billing office was terrible to speak when I called after receiving the surprise bill in the mail today. DO NOT USE THIS OFFICE. This is an ongoing issue they have and the reason their reviews are so low. Taking advantage of Seniors living on SS is as low as you can go. Shameful! read more

My husband and I have been going to Tomoka Eye Associates in Palm Coast for years. In that time, we got old and needed our cataracts done. Dr. Kline is our eye doctor and Dr. Root is our eye surgeon and the whole experience was smooth and easy. Best of all we couldn't believe the improvement in our sight! We didn't know what we were missing and we would NOT go anywhere else. Tomoka Eye, Dr. Kline and Dr. Root are the BEST. Everyone in the Palm Coast office are wonderful. I found the office reception to be welcoming and efficient. Today (11/22/22), the tech named Leihani was very knowledgeable, friendly, and had great style that was easy and welcoming as well. She explained all the steps for checking my eyes to prepare a gets 5 stars! The reason for 4 stars is the wait time. My previous visit was approximately a 2 hour wait ... and that was just in the waiting room!! The exam wait was about 30 mins before seeing the doc. Today, my wait was 5 minutes!! Yay! I do appreciate the office decor and waiting rooms. They are spacious with plenty of seating. The wall art is pleasing as well. Overall, I had a good experience. read more

I have been going to Tomoka Eye for years. Dr. Schoeler is amazing, and the staff has always been wonderful. This was my 10 year old sons first appointment so I scheduled us together. He had severe anxiety about the appointment because he did not know what to expect. As much as I reassured him it was not getting through. Sydney was our tech and was she amazing with him. She explained everything she was doing, gave him a chance to ask questions. When he seemed nervous she asked if he would like me to go first and watch what was going to happen. Even allowed him to see what my eyes looked like up close. He thought that was really cool. That she took the time to make him feel comfortable meant the world to me as a mom. She was so thorough, continually asking questions and did not rush through focal tests. She was very patient with him during the whole appointment and even the dilation was a breeze. She even gave me some very helpful information, and I have been wearing glasses since I was a child. Great thanks to Sydney. Dr. Schoeler was great with him as well! When we confirmed that he needed glasses she answered all his questions gave guidance on taking take of them and reassured him that once he saw how much clearer he would be seeing he would not worry about having to wear them. lol read more

Went in on emergency appt for an ulcer on my eye. Appt was over an hour late. Had to return the next day for a follow up. This time 2 hours late. When I mentioned this to the doctor she said "well you were an emergency appt! Dear doctor. An emergency appt is just that. It is not a favor. You told me I could lose my vision. Follow up the next day with dr Kennedy. He reads my notes that says I complained about wait time and states "come on dude we are busy and put in a new computer system . Dude ? I'm a sixty year old man. Btw the appt with Kennedy was an hour late as well. Follow up appt two days later with specialist. This appt was also 1:45 late. Also each day I was charged a different amount for the follow up appts. I spoke to the office mgr about this and she promised me an explanation. She has never gotten back to me. I will not be returning to this practice. read more

Almost a year later and my $700 glasses still dont fit right. They adjusted them 12 times then refused to let me exchange them for a frame that fits. I finally went to another optical place and they knew right off that with my prescription (i need my glasses to find my glasses), I should not have been offered or sold plastic frames. I should stick with the smaller lenses, wire frame like I've always worn. So, now, I guess these plastic ones will be my emergency back up. I've written several letters to Tomoka over the past 8 months and have never received a response. I have called and asked for a manager and was told I would get a call back. Never received a call. I gave up going in there to argue as it got me nowhere. They are just in it for the money. It's like a cattle drive....Even the Dr. gave me the wrong prescription on my first visit. I had to go back two other times to get the prescription correct. Very costly lesson learned. read more

Tomoka Eye in Palm Coast is my favorite place to go for eye care. I love Dr Kline and the entire staff is nice and friendly. I give tomoka eye a one. Because everytime we have an appointment scheduled they call and cancel. Our appointment were scheduled a year ago. We think this is unacceptable. You are not the only eye doctors in Ormond, Port Orange and Palm Coast. I know we are not the only ones that they cancel. read more

I have been here the past couple of years. I take my kids and we have all seen Karen Schoeler. She is very good with the kids and does a very thorough exam. We have been to some other optometrists in the area and they were so bad that my daughter got glasses and could not even see the board in school still. They have a nice selection of frames and my daughter actually does not mind going because she knows that the adjustments that will be made will help her see better. I also have gotten some glasses from them and have had no problems with the vision. read more

Walked in on an emergency from my primary. I was amazed how big this practice was, it was bigger than any 3-practices I have seen. With my left eye in pain, I was made to fill out paper work. There must have been 20-25 people waiting so I decided to go outside with clipboard in hand were there were another five people standing around waiting. All I could hear were people complaining of the long wait time. After filling out the new customer paperwork I walked back in and was given a tag to wear and told to stand in the next line. I mentioned again to the next very young lady I am here on an emergency appointment and how long is the wait time. She said time goes by quickly and I will be called when ready. I went back outside because it was too crowed and waited. Almost an hour later and with my leg acting up I again went inside and asked the alluring question "how long". I was told they are always very busy and if I wanted to reschedule. I reminded them this was an emergency case and my eye was hurting. She responded "please take a seated, you will be called". After that remark I looked around and with all the pain I was in I decided I would rather suffer than stand one more minute in a doctors practice that prefers money over patient care. read more

I have been seeing Dr Kennedy for 6 years now. He saved my eye from a botched up cataract surgery from another doctor. He is so intelligent, caring and a real pleasure to deal with. The staff in the office are so nice and friendly and I did not have to wait for my appointment. I could not be happier or pleased than I am now with the service. After my eye examination a year and a half ago, Tomoka Eye Associates gave me a new glasses prescription. This week I was out of town, broke my glasses, and desperately needed a copy of my prescription as I cannot see without them. Tomoka REFUSED to provide my Rx to me or to the out of town frame shop that was trying to provide me with new glasses. Their reason: the Rx was over a year old!!! I had to find someone to drive me to an out of town optometrist for another eye exam. There was no change in my prescription as I had explained to Tomoka. I will NEVER deal with this business again!!! read more
