If you read any reviews.. I hope it's mine you read. I learned about a bee hive growing under my shed. I recently a few months ago had it built. I wanted to save the bees so I contacted Tom. That was one of my biggest mistakes. It turned out to be a complete nightmare. I was left with a lot of emotional distress. Tom assured me no bees would be harmed, poisoned, killed. He lied, he quoted me $350 for a safe removal ( I thought) then he tried telling me the bees have been there for years! ( I just got the shed 3/4 months ago) so he then said $50 more because it was a lot of work. Had he done everything I thought he would have I wouldn't be writing this review. He needs to be put out of business ! He is also too old (respectfully) to be doing this! He asked me several times for things he didn't bring, and help. Exposing me to angry bees. Which is why I hired him so they could be safely removed and not harm myself or my family. He said he didn't poison them, he only sprayed the poison where he patched the whole in my shed. He's a scam, a liar and a thief ! He killed so many of those bees and I feel left to blame. Please please do not hire him. Vegas bees is someone to call, they'll even recommend Dave and I highly recommend those. I would like to say anyone else but Tom but now I know some people are not to be trusted. I am devastated. Tom is a scammer!!!! Beware!!!!! He claimed he removed the hive, but the bees are still there. He told me that the bees that were left there were the bees that he could not catch. The hive is even bigger than before. I called and spoke to him about it and he did not care. He wanted to kill the bees not relocate them. Tom is a lovely guy with some unfortunate circumstances. He's dealing with skin cancer on his nose and his wife is also dealing with cancer. I liked that he called me back right away but problems started when I planned for him to come and he called saying he couldn't because his nose wouldn't stop bleeding. We reset the appointment and he even came the day before so he could make sure he brought the right equipment. He arrived right on time, but I was a bit surprised that he intended to remove the beehive on my house that's on the second story without the use of a ladder. He had a long extension on a shop vac and sucked up the bees. Then he used a scraper to remove comb which made a mess of honey on my windows and stucco. For a few years now I've been watching bee removal videos so I know how hard it is to capture the queen. When I asked if he got her he assured me he did but I had my doubts. How could he know for sure? He said give it a month for stragglers to disappear and any remaining comb to dry up and fall off. Sorry to say my hunch was right. We have just as many bees now 4 weeks later as we did when he first came. Within days they were rebuilding comb and it's almost completely returned. This review is nothing against Tom as a person. Like I said he's a really nice guy. But now that I need him to come back his doctors have told him not to work because his skin cancer isn't drying out and he's bleeding a lot. So just a word to the wise. Unless it's a removal of a small swarm or something on a single story house, the job will be too much for him and he just can't handle anything bigger. read more

I called Tom to rid of some bees and the hives on Memorial Day. We talked and he told me over the phone $180 and then he asked where the hive was at and the height, now it's $200. We discussed there were two hives, one in the tree and the other in the water reservoir panels located beside the house. He came out about an hour later and we talked for a little bit, showed him the hives. I asked him how much to removed both hives, he said $250, I'm thinking $250 for both hives but it was only for one. The quote he gave me for the $200 for both hives went out the door. He got rid of the tree hive but said he didn't have room for the other one and he'll be back in 2 days. I was already irritated by now because we agreed on a good size quote ($200) for hive removal and now he wants more. He didn't tell me he only worked with cash. I had to run to CVS to get him cash. Waste of my time. He also needed to use my extension cord for his smoke machine...don't you have one as a business. I told him don't worry about coming back, I'll take care of the bee/hive problem. $450 to get rid of bees, come on, give me a freaking break. I wouldn't recommend this business to anyone. I don't like being scam and not going with what you've quoted over the phone. Kind of shady business to me. read more

This is a review for Tom's Bee Hives as it pertains to pure, raw, local honey from Las Vegas. I had no idea in my life who cared about local honey until my doctor told me I had allergies. What? Allergies, I just assumed it was change in weather! I have never had allergies and never taken any allergy pills. Doc said take a spoonful of local honey, not mesquite honey every day. Sounds easy? NO!!! Sprouts and Trader Joe's didn't have any. I was pointed to our local farmer's markets. They did not have Las Vegas honey but close. Finally googled and found Tom's Bee Hives. He keeps them in his back yard. The honey is sold from his home. He invites you to his home, pay for the honey (cash) and you get this home made honey. Very nice, Tom and his wife Mary. I had a football size bees nest on my tree and I called pest control. A technician came and killed them all. There's no comb but all bees. Thousands of them!!! After watching the bees die, I felt so horrible... This morning I found another bees nest at my backyard. So I searched for beekeeper and I found Tom. He gave me a quote over the phone. The price is same as pest control. He came in within an hour and took the bees with him ALIVE!! My problem is gone and the bees have a new home. Thanks Tom. read more

Tom is awesome. We had hives in the front and back. He had to open up my finished patio cover to get to one of the hives. He safely removed all the bees, and then repaired the patio cover and helped seal it against the house so it wouldn't happen again. Called him for an inspection. He did tell me over the phone there would be a $30 inspection fee, no problem. He came same day , he basically told me what we already knew that we had bees and would need to remove our vines. I gave him my debit card to charge for the fee and he asked for cash . I only had $20 cash on hand and asked if I could write a check . He said sure and to make it for $40 for his time! We will not do business again with him. read more

Payed that man a lot to vacuum our existing hive from our tree and transfer it into the hives we payed him for. The entire process failed and our bees left the hive. We now know why. Tom is overpriced and did NOT finish his job to say the least. He was also too flirty. He did not care about returning to finish what we payed him for. I do not recommend this person. PS. DISHONEST SCAM ARTIST!!! He preys on people who do not want to kill the hive by advertising that he will safely remove the queen and her bees and take them to where they will live on with a bee keeper. THIS IS A LIE. All he wants to do is get his foot in the door and start charging you for structural repairs because he has to break something to get at the bees. If you don't know any better he will squeeze what he can out of you all while preying on your feelings of guilt for not "saving" the bees. To him, bees are a great way to "create" income for himself. He will try to get the most out of you he can and by all means read the other one-start posts, they are all true. Contact an exterminator, at least they will be honest with you and tell you they cannot save the bees. All the others who say they will save the bees are using the same "hook" as Tom is. Bees are not protected in NV, because there is very little agriculture. In most of the country they are protected, but not here. If you can do it, kill the hive yourself. You will save hundreds of dollars and don't feel guilty there is no one out there who wants to save your bees, both for a price or for free. read more

Tom was awesome. He was punctual and reasonably priced and he really cared about the bees. We had him remove a large swarm that landed in our plum tree. We didn't want to kill them, we just wanted them to leave. Tom came & gently vacuumed them into a bee box & took them to their new home where they would have a safe place to make their honey. People...please dont listen to "bee exterminators" that say, "it costs $1000 to relocate bees". Please call Tom. To relocate our bees, all the bees and places them in one of his colonies to make honey for our community, was less than if we wanted to KILL them. Honestly, I do regret using this service. I don't usually leave reviews let alone one this long but I don't want anyone else to experience what I did. I had a bee infestation outside the chimney in my home and did some research before calling anyone. Since they were honeybees I did not want to exterminate but have them ethically removed instead. While most companies quoted me at $250 for removal of bees and their pounds of honey + whatever cost in repairs to structural damage (which could be incredibly extensive and expensive), Tom said he would do everything for $700 for 3 days for labor and guaranteed they wouldn't return. Not only did he continuously increase his price as he was working but: 1. He had my partner doing free labor without any protection (My partner is a mechanic with experience in construction so they didn't mind helping out a bit but they ended up getting stung and doing more than half of the physical labor) 2. He saved a box full of worker bees with a simple shop vac and wooden box but "drowned" where he thought the the queen & rest of colony might be with water because he couldn't find the nest/hive. I asked him if there were survivors, would they be able to come inside through the fireplace because we had that problem before. He said "no. Don't you see? I put the water down where they are. They can't come out." Guess what? They came out and now they are very angry. For two days more and more bees came outside trying to work their way back in. If that's not horrible get this- we were literally attacked by a swarm of bees coming from INSIDE the fireplace and had to seal the fireplace with a bunch of plastic the best we could to keep them out while we figure out what we can do. Update: they got so aggressive that we unfortunately had to just spray a bunch of bug spray in the fireplace and seal it up again with thick plastic. The bee activity seems to have ceased inside. We are thinking of sealing up permanently. I sprayed outside too and they are finally starting to decrease. 3. He jackhammered a hole in the top of the chimney because he said the bricks were hollow and that the beehive was there and "that is our only option." The bricks did not have hollow holes as expected and inside he shoved my water hose in the hole he made to "drown them." Well, obviously that didn't work because they are still alive and coming out of the chimney from the inside. Which means he did not do what he said he would & I still have honey inside my walls/fireplace (who knows how many pounds) 4. He did such a bad sealing job to prevent the bees from returning that the next two days we had TONS of pissed off bees working their way through the gaps he left after "sealing." My partner and I had to buy a bunch of caulk and wait until nighttime to re-seal everything. 5. After I told him that I could not pay the increased price (I literally only had $50 to spare and told him so) BEFORE he went in on the chimney he said "not to worry" that he would "work with me" yet he still tried to charge me $150-250 more for renting a $50 tool which my partner mostly helped him use. 6. After his one day of labor, I asked why he wanted so much more for two days less of labor AND for not fully removing the bees and their honey he said it was because he had to go to the store to rent the tool (which is literally .7 miles from my house) $150 for .7 miles? Really?! 7. This isn't too much of a big deal but after all this I had asked him to go through the other side of my gate with his truck (I had moved my car and left it open for him) yet he went through the other way anyway and ran over & broke the lights in my front lawn trying to avoid hitting my car -_- Basically: my partner and I had to re-seal everything, re-patch the roof where he cut and "repaired" because the rain came and it leaked, and we have to re-cement the top of our chimney ourselves. We still have bees inside and outside and now they are even more aggressive. We just moved here and spent all our savings on the move and now we have to figure out how to pay for the costs of materials to fix what he did. I'm so disappointed and I feel I put my trust in the wrong person. I didn't even bother calling him again because all I got was "what do you want me to do?!" I can't even trust his work to have him come and fix his mistakes. I hope this review helps others not have to go through this. read more
