We had many people recommend we stop by Peacock. My boss went to Oregon state 40 years ago and peacock was around when she was there so it is a staple! What a fun place! I was in town for a conference and came here two different nights with some colleagues. The drinks were cheap and the service was friendly. I didn't get any food but sat at the bar next to a guy who raved about his burger. One negative was the establishment didn't have air conditioning. Just fans. This is your typical local bar food. It's what you would expect and they have a decent menu. Unfortunately the fries came out cold and my burger wasn't too warm either. They must have been sitting out with no food heater while the other dishes were being made. I thought the onions were going to be caramelized on my mushroom onion Swiss burger but instead it was a thick cold chunk of onion and tomato. That was my mistake. I had an awful experience at this bar and would advise everyone to steer clear. First off, their ID policy is a mess. Despite Oregon law allowing temporary paper IDs as valid proof of age, the staff here refused to accept mine. It seems they are completely unaware of the state's legal requirements, which also include: Driver's licenses from any U.S. state, District of Columbia, or a Canadian province or territory. ID cards with a photo, name, date of birth, and physical description issued by U.S. states, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands, United States Virgin Islands, American Samoa, or a Canadian province or territory. ID cards issued by federally recognized Indigenous American tribes with a photo, name, physical description, and date of birth. Passports or passport cards. U.S. military ID cards. NEXUS or SENTRI cards. When I tried to explain this to the staff, they were extremely rude and dismissive, making an already frustrating situation even worse. On top of the ID fiasco, the food and drinks were terrible. The drink I ordered tasted like it had gone bad, and the chicken sandwich was dry and tasteless. It's clear that quality is not a priority at this place. I had invited some friends from bars in Forest Grove to join me, and they were equally unimpressed. They commented on how the bars in Forest Grove are not only cheaper but also offer much better value for money. The staff there are knowledgeable about the law and far more accommodating. My friends couldn't believe the poor service and low quality of this place compared to what they're used to. Overall, this bar fails on multiple fronts: they don't know the law, their customer service is terrible, and the food and drinks are subpar. Save yourself the trouble and go somewhere else. This review is specifically for the Kiwi bouncer (bald guy, glasses). I love the peacock and frequently go there with my friend group of OSU graduate students for karaoke and pool. We have had our nights ruined on multiple occasions by this bouncer from New Zealand telling reasonably drunk people that they need to leave the bar when they are not bothering anyone. It is apparent from these interactions that he is on some sort of power trip about throwing people out. We are not the only ones who have had this experience. This bar gave me an awful experience. One of the bouncers at the door (bald man) gave us a huge hassle. He was EXTREMELY disrespectful to us and was trying to gain power over our group. We were very tame and he came in with a hot head. I was taken back by the disrespect he gave us. My friend who was with the party had a real ID and this man took it. The cops weren't able to show up in time to show up to defend. I have no words to explain my disappointment with this establishment. I will never return and will never suggest anyone else returns. Literally the worst experience of my life. Shit small town attitude, the bartender had no idea what they were doing and so so rude it's unbelievable! I stood at the bar for 15 minutes.. AT LEAST! He lost his mind and ran out from behind the dj booth and tried to fight my brother in law and caused a scene. I wish this wasn't the only dancing bar in Corvallis! The owner Dakota allowed his bouncer to discriminate against me . The bouncer told me he would not sell me drinks when I arrived and he would have to make me leave . I felt completely embarrassed when I was told I would have to leave . After I had a conversation with Dakota, the manager, he told me he couldn't go against his employees decision even though it was obvious I was sober and we were able to have a normal conversation about the situation . Last time I went was during the summer, and pretty early with no fee. Yesterday night, I went around 10:30pm. There was a fee for $2 to get in and get stamped! Cash preferably. The dance floor was pretty crowded! They also have a bar up there as well, and the bartenders are pretty quick with refilling the water. After reading this review, I'm glad I was too (drunk... tired... distracted ;-) ;-) to realize there was an UPstairs. That part sounds terrible. but downstairs was awesome. Between dancing to the live band (my partner turned out to be a former olympian in rhythmic gymnastics which explains why I (a) couldn't walk the next day and (b) was too distracted to notice there was an upstairs) and going head-to-head in big buck hunter (they have two!) with my buds, "one drink" turned into walking out at the closing bell. The food is a little secret as everything is made fresh down to the mashed potatoes. TAKE HEED: Watch your back. You have a high chance of being beat up by the bouncers at this bar and getting handcuffed by police each time you step into this place. SERIOUSLY. I kid you not. My boyfriend and I came out to this bar for the second time ever, not big drinkers but came out with friends for St. Patrick's Day. We were about to leave this bar when I followed my boyfriend into the mens bathroom while looking at my phone not even thinking about it. Next thing I know I'm being grabbed by a man and taken out of the bathroom. My boyfriend comes out and sees the bouncer push me down onto the floor and walks away. My boyfriend befuddled walks up to the bouncer and taps his finger on his shoulder to ask what that was about. The bouncer turns around pushes him to the ground while three other bouncers hold him down by stepping on him. One of the bouncers has the bar tender call the police and they all proceed to grab both of us and drag us down three flights of stairs (sounds exaggerated but it's not). Next they bring us outside and throw me on the ground and hold my face in the gutter while waiting for the police to show up. As soon as the police were in sight they stood me up to not look like such sinister people. The police take reports from them stating that we "swung" at them and "ran at them with elbows swinging"!! Hahaha! Wtf nice elaborate story douche bags! They then tried to press charges of violent conduct. We were released from the police after they spoke with us and let us go home with a couple big tickets. The next morning we woke up with huge bruises, scratches a sprained ankle and dirt on my face and leaves in my hair. Our clothes were ripped partially off of our body from them dragging us too. We not once attacked or threatened these men. We had to lawyer up and plead guilty to the judge in order to drop the charges because we had been drinking and they were "sober" so it was their word against ours. Looking into the local newspaper this bar calls the cops on bar goers every weekend claiming they were acting some sort of way and always getting away with what they are really doing there. One of the bouncers that used to work there shot his girlfriend in the back of the head and dumped her body outside of Alsea back in 2017. There was also a protest back in 2014 because two transgender women used the women's restroom and they were also kicked out for it. They were then asked to prove their sex by showing their IDs and the The owner of the Peacock is quoted with this, "Yearout (the owner)continued, 'The Peacock welcomes everybody. The comfortability of all our patrons is important to us. But what's to stop any male from dressing up and putting lipstick on and using the women's bathroom, transgender or not? It's a safety issue for our female patrons, a comfortability issue for our female patrons.' "...wow classy guy right? They have a type that they hire there and it's not good. It's like the bully's from high school never amounted to anything afterwards and they are still living their trivial lives taking out their anger and jealousy on students and patrons that actually work hard and are decent humans. One day they are going to mess with the wrong person, and everything will come out of the woodwork. What goes around comes around. I don't like having to tell this story because it was a terrible time but if it helps keep one or more people from getting hurt by these men, so be it. read more

I come to peacock all the time, I usually absolutely LOVE the environment and the overall vibe. However I was recently there celebrating my 23rd birthday and I had a very upsetting interaction with one of the bouncers. I wish that I had the foresight to get his name, but he came up to me and my friends and asked us which one of us was "wooing" I said that it was me because I was just having a good time and hyping up my friends who were dancing. He proceeded to tell me that it was 'annoying and distracting and that he thought something bad was happening every time he heard us,' His tone was not kind. And I did not appreciate being called annoying for something that literally everyone else in the bar was doing. There's music, there's dancing, I have been to countless bars and have never been talked down to for simply having a good time and screaming "Woooo!" at some friends dancing once or twice. I understand if we were doing something genuinely disruptive but that was not the case. This experience really soured the rest of my night and totally changed my perception of this bar, I usually have the best time there but I do not appreciate being talked down to like that, and it nearly upset me to the point of crying, I just wish his tone was less abrasive and insulting, I hope that they can manage the expectation of their staffs attitude in the future as l have never had a bad experience there before tonight. read more

If I could give this bar a zero star rating I could. I have a mobility disorder due to a breathing problem. My dog is a service dog and has been registered for over a year. It is not a fake registration. The bouncer told me my disability was fake, and banned me from coming back to the bar ever again. After showing all of her credentials, he seemed embarrassed, but insisted that I was lying. I was sitting by the pool tables minding my own business with my dog in my lap. Waiting for a drink, he passed by and sharply said to come outside. He googled random information on emotional service animals and insisted I was lying. As I said I showed her identification and the fact she is registered not as an ESA but a medical assistant. He boasted his power in front of people waiting outside, who noticed the abuse. I began to cry and say that this is discrimination, and that I will report them. He said go ahead and told me to never return to this bar. The department of justice was notified of this discrimination. I have heard of many horror stories of people getting kicked out of the bar for no reason, but this was just horrifying. The people outside did not understand why he was telling me my disability is fake and neither did I. Screw this bar, the drinks are way overpriced and the service is awful (I paid $26 for a shot of vodka and it took about 25 min to get it). The bouncer has serious problems and the peacock is now responsible for a discrimination violation. Go to crowbar or brass monkey if you want a real drink and fair service.
