Tried checking out this chic bar we found online. When we arrived we found the bar was full which was fine, we were eying the open chairs at the bar top. The bartender (young man, facial hair and glasses) proceeded to rudely state there is no room for us. We asked if there was any reservation option or way to wait in line. He flatly states "No. It's first come first serve." We left feeling rejected and will not be returning. Advice for the bartender, at least greet your customers and perhaps let them know you are busy but to come back another time. Not a good experience at the snug bar and will not be returning. 0/10 service. read more

Came on a quiet night--bartender was smoking upstairs. He didn't come down to offer service, so we left. Pretty crappy customer service. Oh, and it's not like I'm being a snarky B who waited 30 seconds then posted a nasty review. No. We came to the bar, the bartender said I'll be right down. We went into the bar. My husband went pee. He came back. We looked through all the admittedly interesting bottles behind the bar. We talked about them. We looked at all the interesting pictures around the small bar. We talked about them. We looked at the Buddha hidden under the stairs. We waited. We waited some more. We finally gave up and walked upstairs where the bartender was just putting out his smoke and coming inside. He said sorry. We said us too. Hey Snug Bar owners: The bartender you're paying to work just cost you a one star Yelp review. Heads up! Disappointing. Our bartender was the best. She was very personal and easy to talk to. She made variations for any drink with, and was quick to offer some great suggestions. The entire experience was perfect, the theme of the 1950's was prevalent throughout the entire place. I honestly don't know why more people don't talk about this little cocktail bar. Their happy hour menu was incredibly cheap, and I will definitely be back to enjoy some great cocktails, and great conversation. I've had my complaints throughout Corvallis that it is almost impossible to find a strong drink that's worth the money in the city. This little bar proved me wrong, you can find anything you want in this tiny little speakeasy. Dark, quiet "speakeasy" type bar downstairs in Magenta. Great place to get away from the typical loud crowd that is out on the weekends. The drinks are expensive and small, but its worth the splurge every once in a while as they are tasty! The bartender is always super friendly and helpful every time I've been here. There's usually only one person working though so service can be slow if it's crowded. The best part is that you can order an array of Magenta small plates with your drink - you'll always be able to find something on their menu you're in the mood for! Would definitely recommend this place to anyone - quite the hidden gem. read more

This is easily the best bar in Corvallis. 1. The Bartender is knowledgeable and passionate about his craft. 2. Craft. This is a talented bartender who not only knows his alcohol, but has come up with some crazy (crazy delicious) drink combinations. Watching his performance is wonderful. 3. The ambiance is wonderful. It is intimate, small (which can kind of be a downer, but such is life), dimly lit. The music is good. 4. The clientele is not a bunch of loud, fratty "chin strap douche bags". These are people you can have a conversation with over a delicious drink without the word "bro" being tossed around like beads at mardi gras. I will definitely be back and will tell all my friends. I will start this review off by saying that i am a person that is not easily impressed. Snug is the best idea ever. An intimate, well appointed bar for people who want a WELL mixed drink as opposed to a well drink. As soon as you enter you feel cozy........which is my guess on why they named it snug. It feels like you know a secret, like you've stepped into a speakeasy. Couches, bar stools, comfy chairs, & good music. You can order dim sum from upstairs, without the service that upstairs provides. Let's talk about chris, the bartender. He's what i expect from a bartender as a grown up out for a few well made cocktails. He's well dressed, articulate, can tell a great story, and most importantly; loves what he does. He comes up with great combinations, makes his own tinctures, & i am sure that everywhere he goes, he finds inspiration for flavor combos. Passion people! It's the key to everything. I can only hope it doesn't get TOO popular so i can still find a space to sit and relax. read more

One of the best secret places of Corvallis! I love the atmosphere here. Great drinks, and the bartender is amazing and can make anything if you tell her what you're looking for and a price that you want to stay in. Love the little plates as well! Went to the Snugbar with my wife and friends last night and we had a wonderful time. It reminded me of a chic undergound European bar, with a variety of seating, low lighting, post-modern decorations, and techno-ish music playing in the background. The dim sum was good (not great), but the drinks were delicious! The bartender did an amazing job and provided excellent customer service. One of us ordered a "Blazing Saddle," and we were delightfully surprised when the bartender lit the alcohol on fire to warm it up and poured the drink back and forth between two cups, which provided quite the fire show! This place is a great amount of fun for relaxing in the evenings. The whole place has wonderful couches everywhere for lounging with drinks in a casual atmosphere. It is great for hanging out after dinner upstairs (in the Magenta's restaurant), if a date is going well :) read more

Best bar in the city!! I went there for the 1st time last night and was extremely impressed by the bartender, Robbie and his waitstaff, Andrew. I will admit that I am a very picky person when it comes to bars and drinks but Robbie made me such amazing Bloody Marys. I am glad I found my new home away from home. read more
