This is written about 2.5 months after getting my hair done by Jessica and I am still amazed at how great my hair still looks!! I color my hair "funky" colors (blue, silver, purple, etc. type colors) and usually colored hair like this tends to wash out within 6 weeks. But I am 10 weeks from the appointment and still going strong!! I had made the appointment after searching endlessly for a salon that not only felt comfortable, but advertised more "exotic" coloring and styles. I have tried at other salons but no one can do exactly what I want so this was at least a years worth of searching come to fruition. I was hoping for a silvery/grey/blue mix and after looking at every review here on yelp, review on Google, and pictures on IG and knew I would be in good hands. The parking lot isn't the best, since it is quite small and on busy Federal Highway in Ft. Lauderdale, but that really isn't anything they can control. So just be cautious when attempting to find parking for the salon. I got there a little early and upon walking in, I was greeted and asked if I wanted anything to drink within a minute of checking in for my appointment. I didn't have to wait very long and upon meeting Jessica, my nervousness instantly disappeared. She was a joy to chat with over the course of the coloring/haircut. She was confident in conveying the look I wanted while keeping my hair as healthy as possible, which is can be tough to find since I have only now just begun bleaching my hair within the past two years. She also gave me a great haircut that was flattering for my face, but also honored my wanting to keep my long hair and didn't try to talk me into something else, which I have experienced at other salons. I understand that the stylist knows best when it comes to flattering cuts for different face shapes, but still it is important to work with the client to come up with a cut that works while honoring what they asked. By the end of the appointment, I knew that it was going to be pricey since I needed multiple processes done, a haircut and having hair that reaches all the way down my back, but it was every penny. First I would like to start out by saying I never write reviews, I normally brush off a bad experience but not in this case. I went to Ton Vangard years ago and had an excellent cut and color but they moved locations. I found their new location and was thrilled to return to the salon. Unfortunately I was misled that one of the stylists was able to re create a simple hairstyle. After numerous photos were sent I went in excited to get my hair done. I went in with shoulder length hair and left with a micro mini bob. I went home and tried to style it myself and salvage what little hair I had left. I then contacted the owner who was so sympathetic and promised since most of my highlights were cut off that she would take the price of the haircut (85$) and apply it to my highlights. I then went in the following week after being reassured the other stylist would give me beautiful highlights. I sat in her chair and she then tells me she doesn't do highlights as it ruins the hair, after a 30 minute conversation she convinced me to bleach the roots. I left in tears as my short hair is now yellowish. I reached out to the owner and asked her to please refund even a portion of the over $300 I spent with bad results. She never returned my texts. I will now have to spend more money to fix their mistake. read more

I found this hair salon after searching on Yelp for salons near my work. I was quite impressed with how the owner messaged me back so quickly after I expressed interest in scheduling an appointment. Irene was extremely professional, informative, spoke highly of the specific team member (Jessica) who she determined would be a good fit for me. There was nothing generic or automated about her conversation. She even accommodated my (limited) availability and I was seen for an appointment at 5pm on a Friday just three days after my inquiry! When I arrived to the salon I was greeted quickly by everyone. The stylists were engaged with their customers and looked to really enjoy working there. The environment gave off equal balance of sophistication and edginess. My stylist took the time to assess my hair and listen to what brought me in. She gave me exactly what I was looking for and gave me the education, conditioning treating, wash, cut, and style that I was hoping for. It's easy to say that I've found my new salon. Got offered a drink upon arrival and had a great talk with Max about which direction to take my hair based on what my lifestyle is like. I'm torn on this place. My color was great; however, my cut was really bad. Like really bad. One side is a half an inch shorter than the other. Plus multiple people have pointed out the back of my hair is completely uneven with random pieces that are way longer than the rest of my hair. I just wanted a simple bob nothing too crazy. I had a feeling it was going to be a bad cut when the stylist cut my hair to my chin when I asked for it to be just above my shoulders. He then looked at me and asked if he should go shorter. My concerns were confirmed at the end when said he wanted to diffuse my hair to see if it would curl up. My hair is stick straight. I guess if I left with messy hair, I wouldn't be able to see how bad it was. My experience is just not at the level you would expect for the prices they charge here. read more

I tried this salon because I got a groupon for a discount on the services. When I called to make an appt, I was actually able to get in the same day. Plus, the lady on the phone was extremely friendly and helpful and continued to be when I arrived at the salon. I had purchased a groupon for a cut and partial highlight. However, I decided I wanted to get away from my current color and go more blonde. My stylist informed me I would be charged for a base color as well and I was fine with that. As I always do, I leave my hair in their hands with my only instructions were that I want blonde and a new do, as long as I kept the length. After four hours at the salon, I was extremely disappointed with the final result. My hair was not blonde at all but had minimal blonde highlights in it and the cut was exactly the same as before just slightly trimmed. While the quality of the hair color was great - it simply wasn't at all what I had requested. The haircut was of the worst quality I've ever had - my hair snarled and knotted in the days after like it never had before. It seems like, as is normal, the color did a bit of work to the hair and the hair dresser simply didn't take enough off to keep the hair healthy. Worst of all, not only did they add the base color but apparently, without asking me, she had used two other products to achieve the color result (let's not forget that it wasn't the right one anyway) and I was now expected to pay for them. My $89 groupon all of the sudden became a $200+ haircut! Nice people but without proper business experience in their hair cutting or how they run it. Avoid if possible. read more

I am an Asian girl with natural straight long hair who changes hair color quite often. I use color care produts and hair mask regularly and luckily my hair hasnt been damaged and I dont have split ends. I had red brown base with highlights for about 7months and I was getting bored with it. Also it is such a work to maintain root and highlights every 5 weeks. And it costs a lot, you know. So i was looking for a new style with low maintenance and decided to try balayage. I researched many different salons and found Brandon in Yelp! and that was one of the greatest things happened to me last year I made an appointment and Brandon was ready for me on time. He got me an ice green tea and if you like green tea you should def try it! I told him that i want new style with low maintenance so i though about keeping my root color and get blondish balayage. I showed him some pics too and he helped me to make me a decision. Because I already had highlights and different base color, it took a while to get it done than doing on virgin hair but Brandon told me what he is doing, how long it will take and what is next each time when he applied colors on my hair. I felt very comfortable like I knew him for a long time and it was very pleasant to talk with him (By the way he s favorite singer is Mariah Carey and he likes wholefood) I was very satisfied with whole process and the result. It has been already 4months that I got my balayage done, and I havent been to any salon since then. I just put hair mask and try not to use hair iron much and i still get so many compliments fromy friends. (Even from strangers!!) I will put some pictures to share his great work with yelpers. Went to Eric for a full keratin treatment. It was my first so I've been putting it off after moving to south Florida from NYC. Eric was amazing. He explained the whole process before and during and made me two cappuccinos He did a phenomenal job and not once did the iron seem too got or the keratin irritate my eyes. Ended with a fabulous cut. The keratin treatment was life changing. It is so amazingly easy to do my hair in the mornings and no more frizz! Even after the gym which is amazing bc I sweat a lot during hard workouts. First off, I would like to say that it is very very hard for me to go to a new salon without any recommendations from friends. My normal hairdresser had just stood me up for the second and last time. I was in a crunch leaving for a cruise in 2days and refused to go with my hot mess of hair. After doing some extensive trolling of salons in Ft. Lauderdale I chose Ton Vangard. I loved their concept of doing Hair, Body, and Tattoo services. Also, the fact that they have beer, wine, champagne, coffee, tea, espresso, etc. was appealing. The pictures of this place do it justice. It has a very cool, hip feel to it. I am so glad I found this place! From the moment I called them to book my first appointment, the staff was super friendly and nice. When I got there, I was brought to the shampoo area that has really cool electric chairs that slowly tilt you back into position. I was not ready for the most amazing shampoo experience I got there! They massage the shampoo and conditioner into your scalp and let it sit for a couple of minutes. It was nice to just lay back, relax and unwind before the haircut. Since I was a first timer there and didn't have any recommendations, they paired me with Stephen who is great! With a glass of red wine in hand I was ready to get this haircut started. Stephen did a great job on my hair and we had very good conversation. Going to the salon is kind of therapeutic to me. I like interacting with people, talking about life, joking around and sharing experiences.. Which is exactly what I got! I wasn't aware until I was paying, but first timers get a discount (30% off I believe). Saving money is one of my favorite things to do, so this surprise made me love the place even more. They also give you an option to book your next appointment while paying which is very convenient for me. I'm surprised I have never been asked this at other places, as it seems like a great way to keep the customer on a regular schedule. I now get my haircut every 3 weeks and never have an overgrown untamed fro! I will probably be getting the Men's Facial very soon, especially since there is Yelp deal! Review At Ton vanguard Studio in fort laud. , Isabella 'Pinky' Cerrone has added permanent eyeliner and make-up to her repertoire . I was fortunate to be one of her early models and am quite happy with the results. Yes, it was a gamble, how could I know for sure? But it paid off. Wonderful results. I didn't know anything ahead of time of how it could go , so she explained everything carefully and had very confident capable hands that eased my fears. Still heres some straight talk ahead of time to help you decide to go this never-have to-have-damp-raccoon-mask-smeared-liner-again route. Or have washed out naked eyes during an unexpected want to impress someone moment. 1. Have or obtain some 'fortification' , muscle relaxer, or other calm your nerves product - (hey Green States, I'm So Jelly.) Alcohol does thin your blood, but around the eye has less blood there anyway, so thats what I did. Luckily, I chose pineapple and coconut with rum because apparently pineapple has a swell reduction effect. I didn't tell her my pregame method til we were almost done but it worked since repeatedly she said how well I was doing, keeping my focus trained opposite of where she was working, and how I didn't even twitch which you know is built-in instinctive. And she does recommend drinking pineapple juice just prior to appt. and apparently she is easy to tell anything to, so welcoming and open, that I need not have been so secretive paranoid. 2. iPod _ bring a playlist at least 2 hours long. 3 hours includes prep, paperwork, and discussion time. Add time if you take a lot of breaks, Wuss. 3. You are given a topical numbing cream, it really works ! unless you're a ginger or basically someone who is anesthetic resistant. No, I don't know why gingers don't take ink well or why numb wears off too quickly for them, i just throw that out there for you to comment true or false ;p 4. The needle is super short and teeny, it can NOT pierce the lid layer to the eye below. A fear I didn't vocalize, causing a more difficult time of it inside my head than it needed to be . My hindsight is now your foresight! Welcome 5. She has a very quick reaction time should you flinch but do your best to give a heads up to stop cause you are about to sneeze etc. You are her art so be as still a canvas as you can, mkay? 6. The tear ducts at the side points, cannot be tattooed unless you have a rapid healing skin type to avoid dry eyes/ duct block 7. Outside edge of upper lid cannot just go across or overlap the fold of eyelid, it wont look even and as you age will sag. Ew. I like a shark fin look there, anyway. Thats hot 8. I freaked the next day. Maybe I should've said whisper thin line on the bottom lid , not used to too much there but I called and she reassured me that it was the swelling that made it look like it was the width of a sharpie and it will shrink down. It totally did, like what happens to something drawn on a balloon, not that my eyes were all ThAt puffy. I asked if I could make it look even narrower by adding gold? "Not part of the service." Though I like the idea of Egyptian eyes and may beg and plead to get her to add it in the 30 day follow up. 9. Arnica Montana homeopathic tablets dramatically reduce internal bleeding, swelling, bruising, and even concussions. Always useful , stock up klutz. Its great aftercare. Arniflora gel is topical version but stings if you put it in the eye or on open wounds. So be careful with its amazing usage.* And in case I wasn't clear - Summed up: "Bella's Work is Worth It!" read more
