Longest Review of my life...A month ago I told Gracie I was leaving Friday, March 29 th for a work contract and I needed to get in for a touch up. My appointment was set for March 27. Gracie had just had a knee replacement and I reminded her that I was leaving that week and she said it's fine I'll get you in. I got a text on the 26th saying she basically that she couldn't work that long each day and can get me in next week. This was not feasible since I was leaving that Friday I had to remind her again. I had a meeting at 11am when she texted me helping a colleague but canceled it after going back and forth with Gracie concerned. She got another stylist involved! Tanya and Gracie were not collaborating well where it had me as the client like you guys are the professionals so please get on the same page.They were saying 2 different things for my hair. In a panic, I ran to the salon and I encountered Kristin Kristen said she would help me.Gracie texted saying she recommended her. Kristen from the very start was very condescending and rude. She started off saying "don't be mean to me."I said to her "I'm sorry am I being mean to you?" I'm panicked because time was of the essence. No one seemed to understand the severity of the situation that I have to get my house together, and pack to be gone for seven months working 24/7. I was by no means, mean and she said "no but just don't be mean to me." It was an odd statement. Throughout the whole service, she would barely let me talk to say anything. Another client of Gracie's came in and Kristen was trying to help her. She was telling her how she was swamped due a bigger case. I said "sorry I am the bigger case". Kristen snapped at me and said "don't talk over me." That's how it was the whole time I have no idea why Kristin was making me feel like I was at her mercy. It was like I'm going to be condescending to you because you're at the mercy of me doing your hair and I'm going to treat you accordingly.At the very end, when trying to discuss correcting it, she said just give me my money."My hair she turned blue, along with being 5 other colors( orange, blonde, brown, blue, white, black) and gave me a huge line in the back. She refuses to give me my money back in full, and I had to go for a color correction yesterday. I just want my money back but this was completely unethical and wrong, how this was handled anyway. Gracie; unfortunately, being the owner of the salon, and I thought a professional would not say anything to Kristen even though she recommended Kristin to me and my long time stylist! I felt thrown to the wolves I was trusting! Both Gracie and Tonya were shocked at Kristen's behavior that she doesn't normally act like that. Well, for whatever reason she was acting like that to me-100 percent. I tried several times to call and text Kristin after.I told Gracie I was going to go to social media and other avenues. I guess they were upset me for talking to one of the her long time clients about what happened when I tried to talk to Kristen at the time in the salon the next day.I guess social media didn't matter to them.Kristen refused to talk to me though until I took a picture of her cosmetology license.Then she said she would call me later. That did not occur. A nasty text was it. Just like the rest of our interaction, it was just telling me how it was going to be and I was going to have to deal with it. Even Gracie said on the phone to me and my corrective stylist, that my hair "looked unrecognizable". I'm quite flabbergasted at the whole situation that Gracie is apologizing for Kristin's work and her behavior to me. On so many levels, this was so unprofessional.Kristin paid me back $85 of the $245 for her work, never mind the $250 dollars I lost with the correction that someone else did yesterday. If she couldn't do the job, then she shouldn't have taken the job. She said to me "you will leave here looking gorgeous because I've been doing this 20 years. It's my name on it" A professional would've never let me walk out like that at the end of the service. Awful! read more

Sheryl is the bomb dot com! She always does a fabulous job, and has absolutely the sweetest personality. Today we took our 3 year old in for her first haircut, and was so patient and KIND to our little girl. Sheryl even took the time to put a little pink in her hair per my child's request. I have been going to Rootz (formerly Hair Junction) since before I can remember. Andrea always does my hair and is absolutely wonderful at what she does. I never even have to say anything, she suggests latest styles, trends and always knows what will work best for my hair, face shape, etc... The salon is clean, chic and professional. Dawn runs a great salon and her team of stylists could not do a better job. It's always a treat to go in and see the gang, how well they work together, bounce ideas off of each other and I love the results. Worst hair salon experience ever! My so called stylist, Andrew, the worst! After 2 1/2 hours I walked out of there furious! Horrible hair cut. Not at all what I explained in detail to him. If I could give a negative 10 rating I would. My 16 year old granddaughter called the salon to see if there was a stylist who could dye her naturally blonde hair a light shade of purple. She was directed to Gracie. Gracie said she could do it the following day at noon. The next day I went with the granddaughter to the salon. I asked Gracie how long she thought it would take and she told me 2 - 2 1/2 hours as her hair was long. She was getting a cut, color, and blow out. Three hours later I text granddaughter to see how soon she will be finished. She texts back Gracie is blowdrying her hair so I can come. One minute later she texts me saying she has to reapply the toner so it will be another 2 hours or so. So, at 5:00 I get to the salon and her hair is STILL BLONDE only now with some highlights but none, I mean none of her hair is any shade of purple. I am floored and becasue the granddaughter is 16 and I don't want to embarrass her, I am careful with what I say to Gracie. I had asked Gracie the price early before she started the work and she told me she had to look at her hair. She put her hands through her hair and never mentioned the price but told me 2 - 2 1/2 hours. That is on me, I should have revisited the question but I did not. However, five hours later her hair should have been some shade of purple, The granddaughter had shown her pictures before she even started her hair showing her what color she wanted. Gracie agreed she could make her hair look like that and yet her hair has no shade of purple in it at all and she charged me $381.00 !!! I have tried to resolve this with Gracie and she is unwilling to return even 1/2 the money. Her stance is this, "She can come back and I will do it again for free." Wait a minute, I already paid for a shade of purple that you tried to put in her hair twice, it's not free I paid for something I didn't get and you still owe me the service. Bottom line is this is very poor customer service, she took advantage of us, did not deliver what she promised then overcharged us for a service she did not provide. If I could upload pictures I would so you could see her hair is still blonde and has no purple in it al all. My granddaughter lives three hours from here and she isn't over this way often so coming back to get it done again just isn't an option. Aside from that, what makes me think she can actually do what we paid for now when she couldn't do it in the five hours and two times she tired on the first day? I don't think Gracie is a bad person but she is a poor businesswoman and she should return at least 1/2 of that exorbitant price to me. Needless to say, unless she does I won't be recommending her to anyone. read more

If i could give this place no stars I would. I have never been so discriminated against in my life. You would think with a name like roots they would get some ethnicity in the salon. They took one look at me and assumed I was not good/ worthy enough for there time. Little did they know that I make more in a day then they could ever hope to make in a week. I really thought maybe I'm not seeing this right but as time went on and the owner of the salon slammed the door in my face as I was asking her a simple question. I realized that racism is still a very real thing. I got my nails done by the lady who ownes the nail salon in the far half of the building she did an awesome job. And kept apologizing for the way these girl were treating me. She got a 100% tip for treating me like a person. I will be back to roots. But only to get my nails done by Teresa. Lesson of the day... Don't waste $35.00 for a nightmare haircut. Unless you're elderly and need a perm. I have gorgeous full hair and walked out bawling looking like a boy, I could have put a bowl over my head to shape and have a $35.00 bowl to put on my kitchen table. I hold the stylist over and over that I wanted a layer chic cut and NOT a "Mom" cut. I looked like a 1970's bowl hair cut "Mom" Didn't help that the stylist is 66 and isn't updated on style what so ever. The owner didn't even apologized and was condescending. I was bawling because I had never had such an ugly cut. Please save yourself a hair cut nightmare. Now I have to wait for months and months looking and feeling miserable. The only helpful soul was a younger stylist who agreed with that it was not a flattering look and the she was able to even out my very short hair. I just wanted to keep my length and all she had to do was thin it out..... kept saying I don't want the puff. Complete NIGHTMARE!!!! read more

I called in a Saturday morning and they got me in for a color and foils same day. This was a plus. I went in expecting a mediocre job and to walk out less than happy (as I have with about 3-4 other salons in Brevard since moving here). I sat down with Andrew, discussed what I wanted and had realistic expectations because I had some boxed color on my ends. Needless to say I am over the moon happy with my cut (about 4 inches taken off) and color he was very honest and did more than I could have expected with the color!
