The prices were on the higher side, but that's understandable since many of the items are handmade or custom made. One thing we thought was really cool was that they offer free arrowheads, which was a fun and unexpected touch. We didn't end up purchasing anything ourselves, but we still enjoyed stopping in and looking around. We had enjoyable conversations with the men working there. Yes, the more they sell the more money they make, so pressure selling is expected in a shop geared for tourists. Like we do in most shops we say no thanks, and leave. But we wanted something to commemorate our Alaska cruise, so we took our time. After finding what we wanted, agreeing on the discounts, after finding out we purchased something from their sister store in Sitka, he even subtracted that amount. We know things are marked up, and they still make money with each sale, but in the end, it is our decision to buy or not. Now, we just have to wait for our items to arrive this fall, hopefully.

Spectrum is the only place in Alaska where I will shop from now on because I went into their first store in Ketchikan and found the most gorgeous earrings and recieved forst class service from Marie and Kevin. They were able to make some custom adjuments for me by changing the backing on the earrings I picked out all in time for me to catch my ship. Marie even drove me to my dock to ensure I made it back on the boat in time. If you are ever in Alaska and looking for a unique piece, go visit Spectrum or Miner's Gem.
