We're not really ones to give out high marks on Pizza, we have our own pizza oven and usually have a batch of dough cold proofing in the fridge, but I'm sort of baffled by the ratings of Tony C's here on yelp. We've been here a ton of times in the past year or so and absolutely love the place. This and Mandolas across the street are our favorite pizza in Austin partly because they both serve no BS Italian style pizzas, and not the grease laden monstrosities at all the chains and just about every other pizza restaurant in town. Always fast and fresh food and service has always been great. The BOGO pizza deal on Tuesdays is definitely the way to go. Have now tried a good portion of the menu, the fig appetizer is our favorite and favorite pizza is the prosciutto and goat cheese. Personally, I recommend getting something other than a typical pepperoni pizza here. Their specialty pizzas are awesome. Prices are fair for the area and the quality of food. For all the people bashing the prices, look at the area where you're eating. Burgers in this area are $10+ each and a margarita next door is going to run you $10. We'll definitely keep coming back. read more

AVERY RANCH LOCATION ROCKS!! It's cute, they serve great food and have an extensive wine list and wine is yummy - you won't be disappointed!! The service is spotty but it's in a neighborhood and aren't all neighborhood joints like that? Staff is friendly and outgoing. Imagine trying to keep staff! The pizza was good. Nice thin crust. Not crispy, but crisp. Only issue is that I don't think the oven is really coal fired. It's gas fired. There are coals opposite the gas flames for flavor infusion I guess, but calling it coal fired is a little misleading. I'm going to find out more the next time I go. I have come here many times before and after a movie. The service is alway great and as well as the food. We are here on a Tuesday at 530 pm and we were surprised that it was buy one get one free pizza night!! BONUS!!! While I've found this place to be hit or miss, and I wish that they were more consistent with the garlic knots (sometimes they taste like garlic knots and other times they taste like bread), I find that the coal oven makes a nice pizza. Get it while it's piping hot, the cheese dripping down your fingers, and you'll agree. I don't like it nearly as much as a carry out item unless I eat it the second the box hits the kitchen counter. The speciality pizzas are pretty delicious. I enjoy the arugula and goat cheese variety, but it's definitely not for a pizza traditionalist. Order on Tuesdays and BOGO pizza is a great deal! Final note: the salads are nice, especially in house versus takeout, but the pasta portions are small for the price. If you're craving pasta, I would suggest going someplace else. read more

Had a very meh experience dining here. First off, the hostess seated us without a wine list. One that was resolved, we ordered the bacon wrapped fig app, which was delicious. I ordered a wine flight, which the waiter apparently forgot, because I had to remind him when he set the dinner plates. Wine flight ("Sophia Loren"): The first wine (a German reisling based varietal) was delicious. The pinot grigio was FLAT (water could be tastier). The Chardonnay was warm. Like room temp warm. Wasted $s there. Food - the ahi stack was delicious, though why someone would put very oily crisps in a healthy salad is beyond my imagination. The sausage & pepperoni pizza was bland. My husband offered me a bite because I thought he was being picky, but ugh! I would have sent the whole thing back to the kitchen. In all, a very mediocre experience. I tried a margherita pizza and would give it an B+ or A- grading on the Austin curve. Compared to something like Pizzeria Bianco, Tony C's is just mediocre. The crust was nice and light but could have had a bit more char and, more importantly, was flavorless. I guess they dont want to mess with sourdough, aged dough, etc. My margherita pizza had no sauce but rather sliced tomatos. I prefer a simple sauce but might accept just tomatoes if they were really good quality. These ones were a bit watery. On the other hand, the cheese seemed high quality. I was conflicted over 3 or 4 stars. For Austin, the pizza is pretty good and overall the service, atmosphere, and everything else was great. I realize that the vast majority of Austin diners are not obsessed with the perfect pizza like me. For those people, I think they will consider this a great pizza. If you are pizza obsessed like me, you view it as a lost opportunity. if you have a nice coal fired oven, why not put some more effort into the dough and perhaps a sauce to get a really top notch pizza? read more

After some shopping in the area we came in here for dinner and the recommendation of a friend. The same friend that usually has great recommendations. We arrived late on a Sunday night. The place was not packed at all it appeared as we just missed the dinner crowd since there were a few tables that had not been bussed. Dinner was great we started with the burrata and bacon wrapped figs. I recommend those two though when I return I will try some other items on the menu. For dinner we had the prosciutto and goat cheese pizza. Now that was truly amazing! There were some hiccups, as I mention the table next to us was not bussed during our entire time here. Also we ordered a large pizza and received a small when it came out. Kudos to out waitress for making it right, great effort. My husband and I stopped in after strolling through the Galleria. We started with the Garlic knots...... Dont waste your time. No flavor at all. We then ordered a pizza which was HUGE. we each had one piece and took the rest home.... Ill come back to this. Our waiter was great but dissapointed in the food at this point. The pizza was good but the garlic knots left this doughy taste in your mouth that you could still taste when you ate the pizza. So back to the pizza. We took it home in order to eat on it for dinner. We heated up the pizza, which doesnt reheat well due to the thin bottom crust, comes out kinda soggy BUT that wasnt the bad part. WHen my husband bit into his piece he pulled out a piece of paper... SOOO GROSS. After looking at the paper I am assuming that the Proscuitto has paper in between the slices and so one didn't look and cooked the paper with my pizza. ruined it for us.... So in return the garlic knots are not good at all and the pizza we had 2 pieces and 1 bit out of... Im just hopping we didn't swallow any paper. read more

Yesterday was a beautiful day to sit out on Tony C's patio and enjoy the sunshine. It was happy hour, so my glass of chianti was just $3. We ordered the pizza bianco with added prosciutto. What a combo! The bianco features lots of roasted garlic and fresh ricotta cheese. The sweetness of the ricotta together with the slight saltiness of the prosciutto was heaven. As for the crust, you know it's a good sign when you walk into a place and guys are hand-tossing circles of dough into the air. They know what they're doing! It's a thin, slightly chewy crust they say is NY style. I say it beats Original Ray's in NY and even John's on Bleecker. read more

Bottom Line: We are 10 plus years customers, marginal to low quality pizza (pizza review only), very sparse ingredient amount of cheese and pepperoni (laughable if you appreciate authentic pizza), management and staff indifference - no apology - no willingness to correct, obvious trend of decreasing pizza quality. First of all, I hesitate to ever say something negative about anything or anyone. We try to give the benefit of doubt in every situation. But this review is due. My experience has brought me to creating our first new Yelp account and posting a review for the first time ever. We have been a customer of Tony C's, Bee Cave location in the Hill Country Galleria, since they opened well over 10 years ago. We have hung in there with the ups and downs of different management and food quality inconsistencies. We really loved Tony C's, but we've finally had enough of the poor quality and indifference of management and staff. I'd give this visit a zero if it were an option, not because i'm an extremist, but because this last visit truly deserved a zero...zero effort...zero concern...zero quality. Over the few months, we have noticed that the amount of ingredients on our pizzas and other menu items has been shrinking. Mostly, the amount of pepperonis and the amount of cheese on our pizzas has been steadily decreasing. This can only be due to a lack of attention by the maker (which is happening more and more lately), or worse, a calculated serving size decrease per ingredient by management and staff to save money on ingredient costs. Either way, it's sad to see the decline of overall quality at this location. This is not a one time experience, but we have noticed a steady, consistent decline in food quality. Yesterday on 11/29/20, I gave Tony C's another chance, we ordered a simple pepperoni pizza. When the waiter brought the order (the waiter was very good, but seemingly scared to take action in the end), I was disappointed for the LAST time. There were huge areas of pizza with absolutely no cheese, and the pepperonis were so few and sparse it was crazy, noticeably less than in the past, and NOT the same pizza Tony C's is known for. I held up the pizza and literally picked up big pieces of dough throughout, without any cheese covering the sauce. This has steadily been the case on visits throughout this year, a steady decline in ingredient amount. I showed the waiter the large areas of dough and sauce with no cheese or 'sprinkles of tiny pieces of cheese' and small amount of pepperonis on the pizza. There was no willingness to correct, but said they would tell management. I felt like my complaint was not going to change anything, and we didn't get an apology from the waiter or manager. We left with the majority of the dough still on the tray. We made out about a two good slices from the whole pizza, and left disappointed and determined this was the very last time we will spend our time and money here. We really like the taste of this pizza, but are unwilling to give it another try. Too much disappointment, money spent, and time wasted here. There are other pizza restaurants in the area and in austin that we will seek out that have a fabulous reputation for high quality food, staff, and management. If you want to try this restaurant, please, please, please, explain to your waiter/waitress you want them to tell the pizza maker to not skimp on ingredients, pepperoni, cheese, and other ingredients in making your pizza. If all goes well, in the end it should be good. But be aware of this growing problem. Me and my family have had it...quality too inconsistent to keep going here for pizza, salad, fettuccine alfredo, etc. Those are other reviews that I will not spend my time on. The manager Carrie was working and in between running food and helping bus tables I feel she went out of her way to make sure everything was perfect for us. Tony C's is hands down the best pizza I have had so far in Austin. Being from the northeast I am somewhat of a pizza snob, I have high standards. I ordered a mushroom and pepperoni pizza. It was thin crust, great sauce, and not an overload of cheese (any pizza connoisseur knows that too much cheese ruins a pizza). Also the prices were very reasonable. For some reason pizza is really expensive in Austin, but Tony C's was a good value. I have not tried their entree dishes, but everything being delivered to the surrounding tables looked great. The atmosphere and decor is another plus to this restaurant. If you sit on the second floor you can see the cooks preparing the pizza and putting it into the large coal fired oven. I will never go again. We ordered a 16" Blanco and and 16" Primo. It was about 3:40 when we called it in and picked it up right at 4:00. They smelled great in the car as we drove to Lakeway. The dough so soggy and only the outer crust was firm enough to hold. We had to fold the tip up on the rest of the pizza to be able to hold it. I ate two slices of each and regretted it later. My older daughter took one bite and then didn't want anymore. We travel for athletic competitions usually trying to find something with while since we are on the road. We are rarely in Austin for these because we live three hours away. We ordered carry out from the location in Bee Cave while briefly in Lakeway for a competition. We were running late to the meet so my wife and younger daughter both went straight into the gym at the competition with out eating. By the end of the competition I was sick at my stomach and spent the rest of the meet in and out of the restroom with a stomach ache. The continued until the end of the meet about 9:30 but continued the entire ride home. We literally had to stop at just about every town all the way home. The next morning my wife call the branch we had ordered the pizza from and the manager was very short and rude on the phone. As she started explaining the problem he immediately cut her off telling her that "Tony C's would not accept a complaint that their food made you sick unless you a Dr's report stating that it was definitely their food the made you sick". He said the best he could do was send us coupons for a free appetizer for out next visit. THERE WILL NOT BE A NEXT VISIT. $50 buck for pizza that was bad and the manager does next to nothing. read more

Had dinner at Tony's C's after the movie with some girlfriends. We all had salads (one Greek, one House, one Italian chopped). Everyone was happy. The little roll that comes with the salads was very good. We shared a pear/prosciutto (topped with arugula) pizza. It was fantastic. The 12" size had 6 good size slices. The pizza was a special and not on the regular menu. All of us agreed we would be back. The wine menu is not extensive, but has a good selection. read more

We were there in June, and the pizza was delicious. It's definitely not Chicago-style (my favorite!), but that being said, they make a delicious thin crust pizza. We had the margherita pizza and a meat lovers pizza. There wasn't a single piece left. Everyone kept saying they were full and couldn't eat another bite, but it was so delicious everyone went back for more. We sat at the outdoor bar and our bartender (can't remember his name) was hilarious and kept our glasses full. Great food, cold beer, and friendly staff. Definitely a winning combination. And, yes, definitely try to take advantage of the BOGO on Tuesday for pizza. I also think Wednedays is half price wine. Enjoy! read more

We called to see if a table was available for two. We were told it would be a 30 to 40 minute wait. We decided to put in a to go order. When we got to the restaurant we noticed there were a few tables available so I asked if I could have a table for two. The front hostess sat us down immediately. When I explain that we had just put in an order to go and apologized but had decided to sit and and enjoy the food. You would have thought I said your mother is ugly. She was not happy with us at all. When the waiter approached the table he was incredibly friendly but when I explain the situation his attitude changed a bit. We received our food 5 minutes after our pick up time in to go containers. The shrimp Alfredo was half the size and no Alfredo sauce. We also have to ask for garlic knots because non were included. At this point, both my daughter and I were uncomfortable in the environment. Just so she could finish her dinner, we had to ask for some marinara sauce so she could finish her shrimp Alfredo without Alfredo. The food was cold. Came here with my boyfriend this past Sunday night and sat outside by the heaters. Our server was great, very friendly and accommodating and he informed us of some specials they have throughout the week if we'd like to come back (which we definitely will)! We shared an order of the penne a la vodka and a 12" Vegetarian pizza. Both were really delicious. I worked in Bee Caves for a few months and would visit Tony C's for their lunch specials. I typically ordered the slice and side salad special. The Cesar salad was very good! Crisp Romain lettuce, a dressing that had a nice bite to it, crunchy garlicky croutons and Parmesan shavings. I've been going through a Cesar salad phase lately and am usually let down. Thankfully Tony C's does it right! The pizza is thin crust and a little crispy thanks to the coal fired cooking methods. I am critical when it comes to pizza and knowing that I get the lunch special which means a heated up slice, I don't want to be to harsh. The pizza was good but not blow my socks off good. The margarita pizza was the best slice I had from them. I do think the pizza has potential and if I had ordered an entire pie it would be a better experience. The lunch specials are typically prices for Bee Cave and they gave you lots of options! read more
