I don't know how this guy got a medical degree! Have been to him 3 times for my painful osteoarthritis. He does nothing - and is surly and most unfriendly. Never suggested XRays - never gave me options - just stands there and shrugs his shoulders. Please - go elsewhere. You will thank me. 1. I felt comfortable with the Dr. Nice Dr... 2. Diagnosed me right away. 3. His office/system charges a 2.00 trans fee to use a debit card. So crazy Ive never had a Drs office charge that and then to avoid the fee I had to send the $ thru Zelle. Ridiculous... Little story, in October of 2022 I had Covid. Not knowing I had another disease underneath me in my liver. I had red rashes all over my torso thought it was part of diabetes. The second week of October I was having hard time walking to bathroom and bed. Saw my primary Dr and he stated I had a rare disease and I should see Dr. Makhlouf. He asked for me to get a biopsy done so he can know which way to proceed with treatment Once we figured I had rare disease he knew what medication I needed, in the mean time my muscles were dieing I was in a walker or wheelchair. I have been under his care since November and have enjoyed his treatment of me. I am now back to walking on my own no walker or wheelchair. He is a very intelligent man who is trying to help his patients. He is quiet but that is because he is thinking how to treat patients. I will stay with him for my whole life as this disease is not curable but treatable. We are incredibly thankful he knew what I needed to get back to normal. read more

Front staff are unprofessional. The seats/couch in the waiting room are taped with duck tape instead of being replaced or repair. The doctor himself wears heavy gold chains so it appears he can afford to clean up the waiting room. The doctor doesn't listen and prescribe medication that are not suppose to be taken together (with your current medication ) as they can cause a heart attack or death. He doesn't care what you are currently taking. I feel bad for all the people who he is their only option. read more

As someone who has had a pleasant experience with only a few doctors, and have posted copious amounts of compliments and commendations, Dr. Tony Maklouf is one of the reasons why I've given up on my health. I am a new patient, (with multiple comorbidities and complex health issues, which I believe contributed to his lackluster stance and care). He walked in the office with an annoyed, irritated and tired look on his face. To lighten up his somber mood, I asked if he was all right. He said, he "had a lot going on", and then he mentioned he "ate a lot". Again, to try and make him comfortable, and myself as well, I asked what he ate. He didn't reply, but asked "what is going on"...I began to tell him that he is the 7th Rheumatologist I've seen since 2016, And that multiple doctors including primary care physicians, ER doctors and previous rheumatologist said that I do have an autoimmune disease they just can't pinpoint what it is. Perhaps that was my mistake... He proceeded to tell me that with the absence of any joint stiffness, and only positive bloodwork there is nothing he could do. He said he could prescribe a medication but what is he treating, a positive blood test? Although I believe that to be true, he never asked for any follow up tests, even though the last time I received any blood test for ANA titers was about two years ago. He lightly touched the inside of my knee, my ankles and hands. And he did all of this outside of my clothing with a few fingers! Lastly, because I could tell that he was not interested in getting to the bottom of all of my positive blood test, I began to gather my walker and walk out of the room. He looked at me and said what are you disappointed? I said well why would I just be disappointed? You mentioned that I don't have any sort of autoimmune issues, so I should be happy about that correct? He said, well I didn't say THAT, but you need to see a hematologist. He was very rude. He didn't fully explain the results from some blood work so when I was asking him questions he seemed very annoyed by this. When I called him back to ask another question because I wasn't clear on what he told me he replied by telling me not bother him on his lunch break. How was I supposed to know he was having lunch? His assistant put me through to him. I would not recommend him. read more

I was really surprised to see negative reviews here. I guess I wasn't seeing this type of doctor for bedside manner but rather expertises. Dr Makhlouf is the most experienced and honest doctor I have found (which is saying a lot of you have been stuck in the medical system searching for answers). His experience and talent with injecting joints in unmatched and his honesty about his limitations and what I needed to do to contribute to healing was refreshing. He listens and authentically helps however he can. I would give higher reviews if possible but as I said I was looking for solutions from someone with more information than I had and I was willing to hear hard uncomfortable truths. If you are looking for a friend I suggest you refocus on what you are really trying to accomplish Thank you Dr. Makhlouf for your honesty and experience and care. Spent 10 min in waiting room to have a rushed 5 min with the doctor for initial appt. Ultimately I was charged for an initial 45-55 min initial appointment which they claim is the standard. Had a follow up 3 min phone appointment recently..can't wait to see how that one will be billed as. My advice to you: don't go here if you want a thorough, thoughtful doctor experience. Awful... did a ton of bloodwork and cleared me of any horrible new info however, didn't address my concerns about my pain or issues. I vowed that I would never go back . But stupidly I did. Dr. Makhlouf is the coldest, most demeaning doctor I have ever met!! He just sits there and figits.. He keeps crossing and uncrossing his legs.. and moving around in the chair.. and he rubs his head, and his eyes.. like he is totally disinterested in anything and everything you have to say! Unless you have questions for him, he has nothing to say. He treats you like you are bothering him.. and just looks at you like.. "are you done yet?" He answers any questions you have with as few words as possible. He is indifferent to your pain... When you are finished talking, he just sits there and looks at you.. Then he gets up and saunters out of the room, and goes and stands at the side desk, and walks away! You are left in the room to gather your things and leave! That's it... you are done. Let me tell you, I am more then done with this jerk! I feel so sorry for his staff! They are very nice women. I'll never set foot in his office again! read more

Horrible experience give 2 opportunity and his staff just insults me literally told me to shut up first time after being treated in hospital and was requested to make an appointment for follow medical treatment and medication office got all information from me including insurance main you information was provided or week prior to appointment and when arrived to appointment they tell me they don't take that insurance and if I want to be see I need to pay at front. Month later become medicare so now they will take me meaning while was left with no meds after hospital with unknown diagnosis since they took a bunch of test with possible fibromyalgia due to my amunity system of melanoma may be don't know given Prednisone never told what to due except 40 mg daily run out now can't have apt 2nd try after seeing physician and stated ok let's start new did not care to listen how absent I was of previous circumstances he tell me he will monitor my med and will like to see me in 5 to 6 weeks and will like to get a blood test to quest so when I go for my cancer blood test they can due it then ok get to get my blood no order was send quest staff call no answer I call return call after my blood is taken for my oncologist I ask what happened I get yeld insulted my intelligence and tells me I already have a results I try to explain that was the result that my oncologist done due to there first neglency when they left me hanging and after seeing him and give me a new dosage of med he want a new blood instead of listening to my explanation they told me to shut up and to lisenTo them that is when I hang up the phone cancell apt looking for a rheumatologist with more ethic and a professional staff you do not insult the intelligence of a senior special when I beeing in a medical file for more 30 yrs read more

I've never had a doctor belittle me so much. When I would speak he rubbed his eyes as if he thought I was so stupid and annoying he couldn't wait to get out of there. He is 100% a narcissist who's in this business for the money ONLY. He charges your insurance for a 30 min office visit but I've never gotten more than 8 min with him. His staff is super cool and I wish I could give them stars separately but they work for a complete tool! If you want an amazing compassionate rheumatologist... Dr. Farooz at Comprehensive Rheumatology in west hills is my current doctor and she's been able to properly diagnose me and give me the 30 min I pay for. The doctor is cold, uninterested, and disengaged. Quick to disregard whatever you tell him. Didn't even sit down to talk to me about my blood work results. Stood there with his hands crossed. Front desk is polite but very cold and disengaged. No one seems to be enjoying working there. Not recommended at all. Save your time and money and don't go there. read more

Referred by my primary physician. I was skeptical because of the reviews but I left there feeling quite content. Office young lady Lupe was extremely nice, professional and patient. Doctor was professional and patient too. He listened, took the time to see my x-rays and explain my blood work and gave me options. I went to see Dr Makhlouf twice and never felt so disregarded. He talked to me in the doorway, wouldn't even come in. I had some labs, an X-ray and a bone density test. I'm having a lot of problems with my hands and wrists. I had to remind him of my X-rays, which he glanced at on his phone for one second and said it's just arthritis- take Tylenol. No suggestions, nothing. No details about the blood work or bone density. Just a "it's ok," as he's busy turning around to leave. Not much bedside manner there. read more

I will need to update later as I've only been to his office twice, but I was impressed with his ability to really listen to me (unlike many physicians) and be open to my ideas of treatments to try. He also had great ideas of his own and we are still in the process of trying new ways to treat my autoimmune conditions. He also looked at my clinical findings and not just the lab reports, and combined them to make his diagnoses. He is willing to work in with my internist also, which I appreciate. This rheumatologist is fairly new to Simi Valley and has an office in the new medical buildings on Madera Rd, so those from TO would not have to drive far. There is a severe lack of quality rheumatologists in our area (I even tried physicians at UCLA in Porter Ranch), and I have had more answers from Dr. Makhlouf than from the UCLA doctors! read more

TERRIBLE doctor! Missed my diagnosis all together. There were all the classic signs there and another doctor who picked up on it within 10 minutes. His behavior reflects an arrogant, mean spirited man who, in my opinion isn't making enough money and regrets going to medical school. When I shared with him what my family doctor had noticed on my last visit with him, he mocked what my family practice doctor had said right in front of me. I guess other doctors are not allowed any opinions..... I had a phone appointment which lasted 4 minutes-I watched the clock as I talked and he said very little. And he charged me and my insurance for a 30 minute follow-up visit. I also called his office after I was sent a bill to pay for a office visit that never happened. I was assured that Dr. Makhlouf himself submits to them fees for billing. All in all, do not waste your time with this "doctor." read more
