Always a pleasant experience. I love the variety, and the people who run it are always helpful and pleasant.

Use to stop here a lot when they had the restaurant but Covid put a end to that…read more I stopped in after Covid to find out they stopped serving because of the meat prices. Now they sell just produce from what I seen the last time stopping in. It's a shame because they had great hamburgers and hotdogs. Not just any hotdog I've had before but was told they deep fried them that's why they were so good. I also think they sold the place since it was a whole new look when I went in.

We have heard a lot about this place from locals in the area…read more They were known to use all local produce that they grow. My husband has been here in the past year of moving to the area many times for takeout till we had power. We absolutely love their hot dogs!! He was told they deep fry them that's why they are good. I am not a hot dog fan but I can eat these and enjoy them!! (Have you ever seen how hot dogs are made?? ) They call them loaded with everything on them coleslaw and more! They are on a fresh soft roll!! Amazing!! We have also have had the hamburgers not a fan. They do have chili fries that are good too. We have eaten inside a couple of times, it was kinda like a farm set up. Tables on one side produce on the other. While sitting inside we noticed they have a lot of locals coming in to buy their produce , we did see some prices and they are much higher than a grocery store but they sell what they grow. Since Covid we stopped in one day and we noticed things have changed, they remodeled and made the front counter longer. They were not open for serving food. The guy we talked to said he wasn't sure when they would reopen the restaurant. If your in the area check out the hotdogs!!!

If you're looking for a apple house with a little history this just might be the spot. This…read morebusiness sits on a very narrow strip of land between the roadway and the boulder filled mountain creek where chilled water pours down from the higher elevations, it's a tranquil setting and the tree canopy provides a shady bank to sit among the massive rocks and listen to nature, depending on the time of the year a passing car may be slightly distracting but those unnatural noises are easily tuned out. You can also rent a picnic table for a dollar an hour if you've packed a lunch or just want to take a break. The old gentleman attending store here passes his time greeting the visitors from his rustic rocking chair near the front entrance he probably won't stand unless there's something to ring up on the antique cash register and it's definitely a cash only business - I noticed a old refrigerator containing tall bottles of pops, the sweat on the glass door seemed so inviting so I grabbed a cold bottle of Mountain Dew and paid the two bucks and threw in an extra dollar for his trouble after he popped the top with the backside of an old church key opener. He mumbled something about having to raise the price to pay for the refrigeration, I nodded and didn't challenge his comment as I put the glass bottle to my lips and turned it upwards. What appeared to be a antique bottle turned out to have glass threads so I guess the distributor has yet to inform him the bottles are all twist tops so I didn't feel I should be the one to break his nostalgic gesture of popping the top although finding this out it did temper my childhood memories a bit. This building is old and it appears it's been expanded over the years although it definitely wasn't last year - this wooden structure seems sound and a nice place to escape the sun and provides adequate protection for the fruits and vegetables. I walked around the areas that were accessible and avoided those areas that seemed to filled with decades of junk and were structurally challenged. I like these kind of places and I think they have a lot of historic value and I don't know the plan when this old man calls it a day but I'm sure it will not be the same. The selection of apples is minimal, I'm sure he buys a few boxes at a time from the local growers they looked okay and I don't know anything about pricing it may be a bargain but not sure what a bag of apples goes for in the area. It was a great place to stop and visit but probably not one I'd frequent even if I lived right down the road...

You will NOT find the name of this place on google maps. If you search for Bat Cave Apple House,…read moreyou will find a blog and that's about it. We found this place without looking for it. We were taking a drive along the blue ridge then decided to head into Lake Lure. We found a cute post office in Bat Cave, NC. Once you get to the post, continue driving towards Lake Lure and you will find this place a short distance down the road on the right hand side. They have apple butter, honey, apples, and a variety of other items. The setting is park like along the broad river. You can pay to park there and hang out by the river for the day, or pay by the hour $1 for picnic table use. Parking is free for customers and you can walk down and look at the river/ take pictures and leave for free, but if you linger for too long, parking fees are wanted. This is a quaint shop and the tree covered benches is a great place to stop and have a picnic. Well worth the $1 if you're on a road trip!

Stated I would pickup total order today. Even went through what time would be good time for return. Shocked to arrive that nothing was ready. Again items missing told they didn't know about order. I was terribly upset by the person behind the counter. In fact this person said for me to leave Tate's didn't need my business. I purchased the items that was gathered by other employees and left. I thought I was doing the right thing by ordering in advance but it seems like it was a waste of my time. The biggest problem is communication between employees. Every employee stated they didn't know anything about my order. Not one person apologized. I'm happy Tate's is doing so well. I will drive to Greenville for a meat market. 6/18 owner called me to say "don't come back". Just like other reviews, great meat but not worth employees attitude. No customer service or communication. I'll drive to Greenville.
