Also this was a follow up "visit" from my annual. I have had this experience before and I was never asked to pay for my follow up appt and I was told "it's a part of your annual, you don't need to. It's covered." when I asked at Lone Star Medical why I needed to pay for a follow up visit, her answer at the front desk was "it's $25 :)". So I was like whatever, just get it over with. But I don't think that was fair. On regards to the provider care, I was told everything was fine -many things were, but not everything. I caught a low level for something on my bloodwork and a high one that's been alarming for me for a couple of years now and my provider just goes "it's not bad". But I do have several symptoms of something "unknown" and "undiagnosed" things that aren't normal. The wait times when I was scheduled and fasted was insane. The lab provider was amazing! 5 stars to her. In all senses. Great at her work and she deserves a raise! Also, I had recommended a friend so she could have her annual visit and we both are new patients, however, they never ever called her back to schedule hers. Of course she ended up going somewhere else. I just wish this town would have better options that take insurance and provide caring care. Not business care. My provider, however, the great things I can say is that she has an amazing personality and made me feel like home while in the office visit with her. However, communication after my appointment didn't meet my expectations.

I see Dr. Jay Gruhlkey and it is always a pleasant experience. You really have to appreciate his professional, yet laid back jeans and a button up shirt and cowboy boots, approach to medical care. He has never steered me wrong, and his bedside manner is outstanding. Listens to your issues, does not judge, and explores all options to treat your issues. Highly recommend him. He is hard to get in to see, but if you have time to wait, definitely try to.

He is thorough and seems to genuinely care. The office in New Braunfels is great. Staff is friendly and the out of pocket bills I had so far were reasonable. The staff was very friendly and seemed to make everyone feel welcome. The doctor was equally friendly and took the time to talk with me and come up with a solution to my problem. He didn't throw a bunch of unnecessary medications at me, giving me just the one prescription he felt I needed. This was a welcome change from doctors I've been to years ago who'd prescribe all sorts of stuff that I didn't need. Anyhow, good staff and a good doctor, well worth the drive from NE San Antonio. The only thing that would probably lead me to give it a 4.5 was the fact that he was about 30min late for the visit. But considering they got me a same day appointment, I don't suppose I can complain much.

In my interactions with Dr.Laue and the San Marcos Family Medicine practice, I've happily encountered health care providers who: 1. Sit down and talk with you. At length. I've never had the sense of being rushed. 2. Discuss in detail the possible causes of symptoms, and the potential implications of any treatment. 3. Take a methodical and evidence-based approach to testing, actually discouraging some increasingly popular (yet very costly) tests unless they are strongly indicated by symptoms, the patient's family and health history, or other factors. In an age when too many medical practices seem to be little more than sales offices for labs, device makers and drug companies, this family practice bucks the trend. Dr. Laue and his colleagues put the focus where it belongs: on listening to the patient and prescribing the treatment that's really needed. You've gotta love that.

Dec 22 I had an appointment at Next care in Cibolo.  My condition was green phlegm, heavy cough…read more After a quick exam was told it just had to follow it's course gave me a script for an antibiotic. Continued to get worse and the following Tuesday I was running a temp between 100 and 104.  Made another appt on that Friday and explained symptoms were getting worse another BRIEF exam I was told take OTC. No additional script. It would work it's self out.  Sunday symptoms were not improving so I called to and the PA for meds.   I was told she would call back.  I called a second time and was told she would call but probably not till tomorrow. Never received a call At 8:30 I went to another urgent care. They did a thorough exam inc X-rays and determined I had early Pneumonia.  Obviously I won't be back.  I was charged 2 deductible's.  Wouldn't be a big deal except I had no relief from their exams.

Have seen Daniel Cruz, Podiatrist, twice now. Each time he couldn't access previous x-rays whether…read moreit was from the ARA system or when handed a disc with the images. The second visit was for a broken bone in the foot as confirmed by Christus Med Clinic. Arrived at 9:40 for a 9:45 appointment. Was told that I might need to go get another x-ray, "down stairs" and was promised a walking shoe along with help to fit into my boot. Had to retrieve the boot from the car while managing crutches and was then told that I would have to wait to see if they could work me back in, although I had been there and in a patient office for an hour. At 11:45, I got my cd and referral back and left. No shoe, no fitting for the boot, and no further information to treat a broken bone. I was told by the Christus group that I would need surgery, won't consider Dr. Cruz since he can't even get into systems for x-rays or get my foot fitted into the proper medical item.
