Great prices and good work! They also offered free towing nationwide on any work they do for my car, which is a plus.

This station for decades has always had a pretty good reputation for service and smogs. Knowing it…read morehad been sold in recent time I still did not hesitate to take my car here for the bi annual smog. Welp, my car didn't even make it that far as a check engine light came on and I was told there was no point in doing the smog as it would not pass until the death red light was extinguished. The guys here were very helpful and knowledgeable. Lorenzo explained by physically showing me under the hood what needed to done, how long it would take and how much of my life savings would be drained to complete this. While the dollar amount is high, for not having my car ever seriously serviced, I understood why. The decision to leave my car was easy , as Lorenzo's effort and time to educate me and explain in detail what needed to be done was comforting, I was confident my car was in great hands. While they had my car, Lorenzo called and said he noticed I would need an oil change soon and asked if I wanted him to do it as he had the car opened up already. I was hesitant at first, but just had him do it as I did not want to make another appointment in a couple of weeks for oil. Finally, a couple of days later and I was picking up my car. Lorenzo went over what he did. Took the time to show me what he changed out. Compared my parts to the new ones he put in , and it was like night and day, or clogged to unclogged. Let me know how my MPg's should show a difference and let me know of a couple of other things I should get done for safety reasons or looked at without any pressure of them doing it. I checked out with the cashier, paying exactly what I was quoted and the owner was so nice in giving g me a discount on my after the fact oil change. As I was leaving the owner, Gus came out and thanked me personally for trusting them with my car and for my business. That was awesome and memorable as now days, it's rare anyone says thank you or shows gratitude, and maybe even more rarer that it would be the owner of an establishment. Finding a service station that is trustworthy, knowledgeable, transparent , has integrity and fair in pricing is just as rare. But here it is. If your car is in need of any type of service or needs to be looked at, come see the guys at Old Orcutt Kwik Stop first. If they cannot fix it , they will advise you on who can , and at the very least, you will leave a little more knowledgeable about your car then when you first drove in. And as an added bonus, you might have a great chance of meeting the new owner Gus, guaranteed, he will make you smile.

I had a great experience bringing my Jeep Renegade in. I originally came in for an oil change, to…read morehave the brakes checked because of some squeaking, and to have the A/C looked at. They were thorough, straightforward, and kept me informed about what they found without making me feel like they were trying to sell me a bunch of things I didn't need. They also discovered a nest under the hood, which was definitely an unexpected bonus adventure, and took the time to talk through what they were seeing and what might have caused it. (My Renegade turned into a temporary wildlife studio apartment.) I really appreciated how friendly and honest everyone was. It's hard to find an auto shop where you feel comfortable trusting their recommendations, and I left feeling like my Jeep had been genuinely well taken care of. I'll absolutely be bringing it back for future service. Highly recommend!

They said brakes were dangerously in need of replacement and catalytic converter was 'trending down' and would need replacement. Jaeckels inspected the vehicle and reported that the brakes had at 20k before they even needed to be looked at and, as I suspected, the catalytic converter was fine and you can't test them to rate as trending down. I appreciated the honesty and the integrity to give the facts when we would have been accepting of brake jobs and been unaware they were not needed now. The dealership put my daughter in a state of fear because they said the brakes were so bad they were unsafe. She even postponed a trip until we could get them taken care of. Jaeckels has earned my future business and my respect for their business practice. I recommend Jaeckels without hesitation.

I have mixed, but mostly positive, opinions of this business. The staff seemed friendly, and I…read moreappreciate that they took the time to provide a thorough diagnosis of my vehicle. They confirmed that my spark plugs and wires were heavily worn by swapping the spark plug from cylinder 4 to cylinder 6, where the misfire followed the plug. That gave me confidence that the spark plug was the source of the issue. That being said, there were a few aspects of the experience that I think prospective customers should know about. First, the diagnostic fee was $180, which I felt was on the expensive side. I came in already suspecting that the issue involved the spark plugs and wires, so I wasn't expecting such an extensive diagnostic process. After discussing the repair with other mechanics, I also learned that removing and reinstalling older spark plugs can carry some risk on higher-mileage engines because aged plugs can seize or break during removal. Nothing went wrong in my case, but I would have appreciated that potential risk being explained before the diagnostic procedure was performed. Better communication would have gone a long way. I was also told, "I don't want to scare you into not driving this vehicle," while being encouraged to complete the repairs there. If there was a genuine safety concern, I appreciate hearing it, but I would have preferred a more practical conversation focused on the condition of the vehicle and my options rather than feeling pressure to make an immediate repair decision. Additionally, when I asked whether there were ways to reduce the cost, I was told the fuel system service could be postponed and completed later. That made me wish the recommendations had been presented from the beginning with a clearer distinction between what was necessary to address the misfire and what could reasonably be deferred as preventative maintenance. Ultimately, I chose to have the repairs completed elsewhere because I was able to supply my own parts and save money overall. Although Rick's labor estimate was higher ($468 compared to $200 elsewhere), the total repair cost ended up being lower because the other shop allowed me to provide my own parts. I don't believe this is a bad shop, and I think it's a friendly, family-owned business that performs thorough diagnostics. I'm simply encouraging customers to ask questions, understand the diagnostic costs and repair recommendations, and make the decision that best fits their own situation.

I called another shop and they said they could do the job for $600 out the door. I had my car towed to the shop to find out the only problem was a dead battery. The new shop charged me $200 and I was on my way with my car still running perfectly a week later. I am so glad I went elsewhere.
