My car was towed here in November for overheating. I paid $565 for what I was told were the necessary repairs. However, the car overheated again almost immediately because the original problem was never actually fixed. Upon inspection, it appeared the thermostat had never been replaced. Because the shop failed to perform the initial repair correctly, my engine was severely damaged and completely failed, requiring a full engine replacement that cost thousands of dollars. When I went back, the owner tried to quote me $5,000 for a new engine to fix the damage his own negligence caused. I filed a formal complaint with the Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR). Following their investigation, the owner was forced to refund my $565 because he could not produce a single receipt or proof of what work he had supposedly done the first time. I ended up taking my car elsewhere to have the engine replaced. Do not take your vehicle here. Their lack of transparency and failure to perform basic repairs resulted in major mechanical failure for my car.

Jaeckels inspected the vehicle and reported that the brakes had at 20k before they even needed to be looked at and, as I suspected, the catalytic converter was fine and you can't test them to rate as trending down. I appreciated the honesty and the integrity to give the facts when we would have been accepting of brake jobs and been unaware they were not needed now. The dealership put my daughter in a state of fear because they said the brakes were so bad they were unsafe. She even postponed a trip until we could get them taken care of. Jaeckels has earned my future business and my respect for their business practice. I recommend Jaeckels without hesitation.

But this time I went on YouTube to fix myself. I spent $58 on coil & injector & 1.5 hours labor. That means that Henry charged me over $370 per hour in labor, or he charged for 5.5 hrs labor for a 1.5 hour job!

I took a random chance on a Saturday afternoon to go there and there were no cars in front of me. It took about 20 minutes. The guy was nice, personable, and offered the waiting area for me to relax in while he did the smog check. He did say that Saturday mornings are usually extremely busy but afternoons are a little more calmer. $65.00 on May 9th 2026.

As a relatively new arrival to the Santa Maria area--when it came time for some automotive service--it felt a bit daunting trying to select the best place for automotive service. After a brief internet search, Rizzoli's site caught my eye and I decided to give them a try. An appointment was made and on the day I brought my car in, I was greeted at the service counter by Randy who was friendly and welcoming. When I turned to look through the large windows behind me, I was impressed with the view of the shop. My thought was, if that were my shop, I'd want it to look just like that...neat and clean! Getting a ride back home and later being picked-up to return for my vehicle was a nice touch. I was pleased that all service had been performed as promised and at the agreed upon rate of the original estimate. In the months that followed, I brought in a second vehicle which needed even more extensive repairs. Again, I was equally pleased with the outcome of that visit to Rizzoli's. Following each those visits, I was contacted by a charming person in the SLO office who was inquiring how I liked the service. I took my son's 2004 Volvo with 285,000 miles in to find out what was leaking. I asked them five times for a written estimate. They told me that they don't give estimates they provide an Inspection Sheet which does not state what is wrong and it does not have pricing for labor and parts. I told them my son owns the car and he approves all repairs. They ignored everything I said. Three days later we got a bill for $1834. Rizzoli's required us to sign a release from any and all liability on the work their did on the car and insisted we not make negative comments on social media or the internet. We would not sign any release so they put a mechanics lien on the car. My son transferred title to Kyle Rizzoli so we lost the car. I am 70 yrs old and this was my only transportation and I am severly disabled and my son let me use this car to get around. He had to transfer the title because the stress was negatively affecting both of us. No where in the law does it say you can substitute an inspection report for a written estimate. DO NOT GO TO RIZZOLIS, they will overcharge you and take your vehicle. read more

I want to say I appreciate the quality and service I received from Rizzoli's Automotive. I must say I have never had service with my car ever as I did with my experience at Rizzoli's. First my car was taken in thoroughly inspected as to what the problem was. They called when they said they would and the repairs were done on time too. When I picked the car up this is what I experienced and may I say I have never in all the years I have had car repairs ever experienced this. First the car was ready as promised, the car had been completely washed and inside completely cleaned. OMG this is what service used to be years ago. I will never go to another dealership for any kind of repairs now that I have found Rizzoli's Automotive. If the world was perfect Rizzoli's would have a dealership and I would be the first to buy a vehicle! If it was not for their cute and funny commercials I would never have found them. A while back I took my girls car in to get it diagnosed since it was having difficulty starting. They charged us $150 or so for the diagnosis only to tell me that they don't know what's going on with it, but that if I want a diagnosis In another area of the car they can do that but it would be an additional $100-150. I then told them WTF? Didn't I just pay for a diagnosis ?! I paid for you guys to tell me idk but if you pay again well check again? Bull! They then explained to me that they have very expensive diagnostic tools that's why they have to charge again. Lmao. Talk about shady. They seen I got upset and said they won't charge me for the last diagnosis and only for the next one. I let them keep the car and paid for the other diagnosis only for them to tell me they don't know what it is. I did my own homework and found it was the coolant temperature sensor. I had no "expensive diagnostic tools" and am NOT a mechanic, but it was that simple. Biggest crooks in Santa Maria. Beware. read more

My first impression as I drove up was how clean and organized the shop appeared...amazing. My second impression was how welcoming and professional the service administrators were as soon as I walked into the reception room...top notch. The sign-in process, they listened to my explanation and asked meaningful questions to help diagnose my concerns so that they could effectively communicate my issues/needs to the service department. The technology for administering the process was excellent. Customer communications while my vehicle was in the shop were very helpful; including notifying me when my vehicle was ready to be picked up. Finally, the end product; they did what they told me they would do, and all services were completed. I left with a repaired vehicle and confident that the work was done professionally. Was on a trip to Morro Bay and on the way there my battery light came on in my Mercedes Sprinter. WHen i got to Morro Bay i was able to test the battery and alternator with my multi meter. The battery is fairly new and tested just fine, but the alternator was only putting out 11.2 charging amps while running. Called the Mercedes dealer twice and was put on extended hold twice. Got online and found Rizzolis. Gave them a call and immediate answer by Paige. I told her my issue and she said if you get it in here today we can diagnose and have it fixed next day or day after. Sure enough it was the alternator, so they even credited me back part of the diagnostic fee, got the part the next day and had me on the road home the following day. Years ago I had my 1966 Mercedes Benz 250 SE serviced by Mario Rizzzoli at his shop in SLO. Rizzoli's performed great work then, always accommodating the customer with excellent service. We were very happy to have Rizzoli's open a service center here in Santa Maria where we now have my 2012 MB GLK 350 SUV and my daughter's 2011 Smart for Two serviced saving us from the trip to SLO or Santa Barbara. Their customer service includes a written estimate of repairs needed, a concise explanation why, an excellent service staff who sees that the car is delivered on time, washed and vacuumed, and transportation to and from their facility. Over the years Rizzoli's Automotive has endeavored to make customer satisfaction their goal and they continue to keep their promise to get the job done right. I just had several things serviced on my car at Rizzoli's and came away very happy. I dont know much about cars and have always had a bad feeling of mistrust when taking my vehicle in for any type of work. But I can honestly say that I never felt like I was being taken advantage of at any point at Rizzoli's. They did great work, the staff are fantastic, and it is so clean there that you could eat off the floors. I had been to Rizzoli's Santa Maria last week. I met Randy Tate . There was definitely a Engine Problem in my Mini Cooper. Randy took my keys & then checked the Car. Then he said to wait so that some Mechanic should Check & find the defects in the car. I waited in the waiting area & within 20 minutes I was told the estimate of work. The expenses were really reasonable. He provided me the Shuttle & the Driver left me at office. The Car was ready in time. He called me & informed . I went there with my friend & picked my Car. Having recently moved to Santa Maria, I was nervous about finding a good mechanic to service our Mercedes Benz since the closest dealership is 35 miles away. I was able to make my appointment using their website and they provided an emailed estimate for all work to be done. The technician we over my car and found several issues that need to be addressed and the advisor helped us prepare a plan over the next few months to bring my car up to optimum performance. They understood that we weren't able to get all the service done immediately and helped us prioritize the repairs. I called Rizzoli's Automotive for an oil change on my 2011 BMW after learning that the usual place I go to was closed due to the pandemic. I called around and found their prices to be very competitive. I was able to make an appointment for the following day and dropped it off. I was able to pay over the phone and was told that they could deliver my car to me at my home which was very convenient. They gave me a detailed list of what was checked and suggested service and replacement items, there was NO PRESSURE to purchase anything more from them. The 10% AAA discount was much appreciated too! I took my 325i to BMW, and even told them what I thought the problem might be. So after $150 (Standard Diagnostic Rate) they told me I must have a leak somewhere that would take $400 (or more) to find. Not to mention I had just replaced that system. So after 6 hours of checking myself and finding nothing wrong I was Frazzled. So I took it to Rizzoli's. They Found the problem and fixed it for less then it cost BMW to Diagnose it, and get it wrong. Not to mention the part that was the problem was the one I TOLD BMW it might be! I usually do my own work, but If Im stumped I KNOW Rizzoli's will find and fix it faster, better, and cheaper then the Dealer. read more

Took my Audii TT in for the first time as its new to the area. They diagnosed my car quickly and found out it needed a major service due to a leak I neglected. They kept me in the loop and was very detailed in explaining what I needed done. Great staff very friendly and knowledgeable I would definitely return to have them work on my Audi. On a side note about two weeks after serving my vehicle they sent me a letter telling me what I needed done on my next service and outlined a plan for my car. I received a quote but told them to call me if it was more before doing the work. I must say that Kyle called me at every step and also sent me what the diagnoses were before they did the work. They confirmed that my spark plugs and wires were heavily worn by swapping the spark plug from cylinder 4 to cylinder 6, where the misfire followed the plug. That gave me confidence that the spark plug was the source of the issue. That being said, there were a few aspects of the experience that I think prospective customers should know about. First, the diagnostic fee was $180, which I felt was on the expensive side. I came in already suspecting that the issue involved the spark plugs and wires, so I wasn't expecting such an extensive diagnostic process. After discussing the repair with other mechanics, I also learned that removing and reinstalling older spark plugs can carry some risk on higher-mileage engines because aged plugs can seize or break during removal. Nothing went wrong in my case, but I would have appreciated that potential risk being explained before the diagnostic procedure was performed. Better communication would have gone a long way. I was also told, "I don't want to scare you into not driving this vehicle," while being encouraged to complete the repairs there. If there was a genuine safety concern, I appreciate hearing it, but I would have preferred a more practical conversation focused on the condition of the vehicle and my options rather than feeling pressure to make an immediate repair decision. Additionally, when I asked whether there were ways to reduce the cost, I was told the fuel system service could be postponed and completed later. That made me wish the recommendations had been presented from the beginning with a clearer distinction between what was necessary to address the misfire and what could reasonably be deferred as preventative maintenance. Ultimately, I chose to have the repairs completed elsewhere because I was able to supply my own parts and save money overall. Although Rick's labor estimate was higher ($468 compared to $200 elsewhere), the total repair cost ended up being lower because the other shop allowed me to provide my own parts. I don't believe this is a bad shop, and I think it's a friendly, family-owned business that performs thorough diagnostics. I'm simply encouraging customers to ask questions, understand the diagnostic costs and repair recommendations, and make the decision that best fits their own situation.

Not okay... They charged me a diagnostic fee and told me I…read moreneeded to order a part and pay a lot for labor... so in total it would cost $1130... I called another shop and they said they could do the job for $600 out the door. I had my car towed to the shop to find out the only problem was a dead battery. The new shop charged me $200 and I was on my way with my car still running perfectly a week later. I am so glad I went elsewhere.

Went to take in my 2011 Kia Soul for what sounded like engine knocking. There was a recall for this…read morevery reason the mechanic said, but I was over the mileage amount. Now it was up to me to have them do an inspection /evaluation which would let them know the source of the problem. After the inspection /evaluation we high was $145-well worth it but the way-the source of the problem was determined as the timing belt which was worn and needed replacement several thousand miles ago. One issue found and in finding it they also found that the AC belt was badly worn and needed replacing. They replaced the AC belt and changed my engine oil and filter as requested and I was on my way. But not before meeting the entire family. It was great to get to know them and look forward to my next visit. Then they will change out the timing belt-which they had to special order by the way-and my Kia Soul will be like new again. It was recommended that I go to Rojas Auto Mechanic by someone I met recently, because they were supposed to be up front and trustworthy. I now second that emotion.

Had our problems diagnosed and fixed in no time for a more than fair price. Great hospitality as well with friendly staff, free drinks, and a nice bathroom. Cant thank these guys enough. Saved our day!!

For us, it was a stressful situation as we were traveling with a difficult toddler. They came out and got us in and diagnosed in less than an hour. They recommended a great coffee shop where we could wait, and one of the guys worked through his lunch to get us back on the road. All the guys were kind, honest, and the work was fairly price and completed in less than three hours. Highly recommend them whether you are local or passing through and a problem arises unexpectedly. We are incredibly thankful to them and for such a great experience.
