Finally!! Tony's has arrived in Little Village, and I couldn't be happier. I've been waiting for this day, and they picked the perfect spot... right across the street from the competition! Talk about confidence! But I'll leave that right there... Walking in, the first thing you'll notice is how beautiful the store is. It's bright, spotless, well-organized, and has that fresh "new store" feeling. One of the highlights for me is the tortillería. They make fresh tortillas throughout the day, and if you've ever had a warm tortilla fresh off the line, you already know there's no comparison. The smell alone is enough to make you buy more than you planned! The bakery is another winner. You can watch the staff working hard behind the scenes, and everything looks fresh, delicious, and tempting. Good luck walking out without a pastry! The prices are fantastic, especially for a new store, but what really won me over was the employees. Everyone I spoke with was genuinely kind, welcoming, and eager to help. A smile and great customer service still matter, and this team definitely understands that. Tony's, welcome to Little Village! I love and often visit the nearby Pete's Fresh Market, but I was excited to see a new Tony's Fresh Market open in the area where I frequently do my laundry. It took over the location where Walmart used to be. Now during this visit, I had no issues finding a parking spot. Since it shares space with the laundromat I occasionally visit, I could have easily just left my car there and walked right over to pick up my essentials. Inside, the atmosphere felt very relaxed. It was refreshing shopping here versus the Pete's Fresh Market across the street, which is always busy. The items shelved were organized, the market was acceptably clean, and the aisles had a decent amount of space between them. One thing that slightly irritated me, however, was when customers looked at items directly behind me, making it a tight squeeze for other shoppers walking past. Other than that, I loved that the aisles were clearly labeled with what items they contained, making it easy to find the products I typically purchase. I took a liking to the Bigelow green tea selections within the tea aisle, which consisted of a wide variety of choices. I do not believe I had ever encountered Matcha Green with Turmeric by Bigelow, which ended up being my purchase among the selections. In another aisle was a variety of Hispanic teas by the Tadin brand, which introduced me to flavors I was not previously aware of. I took a liking to the Passion Flower Tea but ended up opting out when I saw the Canelita (Cinnamon Tea Blend) because cinnamon tea is a flavor I have been actively looking for. As of late, I have been pairing either cinnamon sticks or cloves with my green tea, which has been an addictive combination. There were many great sales on protein bars, which were listed as "buy 5, save $5." I took a liking to many nutrition bars from brands like Fiber One and Junkless. However, once I saw the flavors by the Cooper Street brand, I was totally interested in purchasing them. I am quite positive that when I return to Tony's Fresh Market, I will be looking for this brand, which is a woman-owned business. I purchased the Chocolate Cherry flavor, which was loaded with real fruit and grains such as flax, chia, quinoa, buckwheat, and oats. Compared to Pete's Fresh Market, there was a very small selection of plant-based items in the freezer section, and they were mixed in with the meat selections. Eek! I will leave that alone, but if I needed some of my plant-based favorites, I would likely not look at Tony's. I was so grateful to see self-checkout open during this visit. I had a handful of items and did not have the patience to wait in a long line. Because Tony's Fresh Market is in an area I frequent, I am quite positive I will visit again whenever I need regular groceries. The items that will lure me back are the tea and nutrition bars, and possibly some produce or frozen foods, depending on what I need.
