Angelo Caputo's Fresh Markets is not where I do a bulk of my grocery shopping, but a convenient place to have close by when the potatoes you are going to bake for dinner sprouted (True story!) or you simply don't have enough carrots for the recipe (Another true story!). I know my daughter likes to visit there with friends for a bite of sushi, a cold drink from the cooler, or even a slice of tiramisu. They got a star back from my mental 3 star review because they brought their happy hour menu back! From 4p-7p Monday through Thursday, they run specials like $3 tacos (Tuesdays) or $8 burritos (Thursdays). They had some summer happy hour menu and it just did not appeal to me so I am glad they brought the original one back, albeit with slightly higher prices than before. I was able to pick up my daughter from drum lessons then pick up steak tacos to eat before we cut into our Rosca de Reyes. Their bakery is also a good stop before a gathering, although it can be hard to get an employee's attention in that department. I have gotten cannolis, brownies, cookies, etc. and everything has been eaten with positive reviews. I get whatever is on sale so it has "forced" me to try different items! Also, the focaccia bread is welcome into the rotation of dinner sides. Overall, I find the staff to be friendly enough and quick to jump to make sure the checkout line keeps moving. This is a nice, new, and unique Angelo Caputo's Fresh Markets that is housed on the ground floor of the Maple Street Lofts, a big apartment building.  Naturally, it's not as big as their regular standalone grocery stores, but it's still plenty big and stocked with what seems like everything you might expect.  We were enticed in with a paper flyer and promo.  The store has a nice airy feel to it, good music, good staff and clientele, and it was pleasant to browse around, at least on a calm and uncrowded Friday mid-afternoon.  Parking was easy right out front.  Wife says their prices are reasonable. They have a Bar Angelo where you can buy beer and cocktails, though it should be noted that it's not a full bar.  They also serve burgers, pizzas, sandwiches, and an assortment of appetizers.  There's a nice shaded patio right outside the cafe as well as some indoor seating.  I don't know if this bar/cafe setup is a common feature or not of Angelo Caputo's Fresh Markets, but I could see it working well especially for the very close-by apartment dwellers.  Anyway, a thumbs-up impression from our first visit. read more

Caputo's just opened a few days ago in Mount Prospect. We were interested in visiting the newest addition to Mount Prospect. The store is smaller than their other locations, but seems to have all the essentials. They offer a variety of items in an organized manner. The butcher and deli meats looked very fresh. The prepared food area, ice cream, pizza and bakery is a bit congested. I am not sure if it all should be in one location, it was a bit chaotic. They have a few seats by the bar to enjoy drinks and seating outdoors. There are a handful of check out lines. When you walk into the store , you are immediately at the check out, not a great lay out. but understand space was limited. Everyone was very attentive and there were lots of employees, almost too many :) There is a parking garage for parking . It is a nice alternative for groceries. read more

As others have mentioned this is a quick grab & go market. The store is found at the base of a condo building. With that said, there is a hot & cold bar and some type of food court area offering Caputo's groceries prepared for dining needs. Hot sandwiches, desserts and easy to-go items for any charcuterie board. The store also offers some house and garden plants. Full produce, butcher and International groceries. To reiterate the prepared goods; small pre-packs of easy to warm foods. Small, boring subs which are just meat & cheese. Pasta specialty items, meatballs, etc. As some had also mentioned, pricing is all over the place. I have shopped at other Caputo sons locations so I'd hoped they prepared fresh subs to order and I was also hoping to find decent cuts of lamb or ground. The pricing was a bit extraordinary for non-organic. What's nice, with the offerings of international groceries, different selections of goods. Tea snacks, cookies, fine chocolate goods, juice cordials, seasonings, etc etc. In these categories you can find some neato items at better pricing than the larger brick & mortar shops. I guess if this were within my locale I'd stop by to seek out & try a few different things. I dig markets with international offerings. New items to incorporate into meal prep. read more

Found this new place near O'Hare as I usually frequent the Harlem Avenue location. This is a much smaller much different experience than the regular Angelo Caputo small deli small everything not a lot of selections but if you only need a few things it's OK. The gelato always amazing and the bakery was pretty much kicked over on a Friday night. The next location was 10 miles away so we just went without the bakery we were hoping for and had gelato instead the lady at the deli was awesome. She knew exactly how to slice the cheese and put paper in between each. Angela Caputo is the only deli that knows how to do it right! Produce always amazing and great deals. Love the little wine, bar and hot bar to hang out as it looks like the locals do, as well as takeout pizzas and other food. read more

Started coming here a couple months ago when I needed a specific type of pasta, cannelloni, not to be confused with manicotti which you can find anywhere. They have a wonderful selection of high quality pastas. They also have a great selection of tomato products, including all the good brands, at reasonable prices. Regular grocery stores will charge a big premium on these specialty products, and Caputo's does not. Produce is good, sales on certain produce are very good. I like that they do not leave all their produce out for people to rifle through, since this means it is less banged up compared to bigger grocery stores. Deli is terrific! Two friendly gentleman typically are working the deli. They are wonderful, and cheerful. They do everything precisely how you ask, and seem to really care about their job. The deli is spotless. The only place I have been to with a deli this clean is Heinen's in Barrington, and they are more expensive and they employees in their deli are not as friendly. The gentleman that is typically working the meat department is great as well. Very friendly, very clean, happy to help you even when you are being picky sometimes, like me. Wonderful bakery options if you need to gain weight. Hotbar is really the only letdown in the store. Everything always looks very old and dried out in the hotbar, sadly. Italian cheese selection is very good (it is near the hotbar and food/bar area). Overall, the place is clean, prices are reasonable (maybe a bit high on their premade take and bake stuff) and I feel good shopping here, and hope they can maintain this level of quality and service. read more

I've shopped here several times. The selection is so-so, the prepared foods are nothing to rave about, the prices are HIGH, and I recently had some pastries from there, eclairs, napoleons, and cannolis.....and they were awful! So bad, I threw them in the garbage. read more

This is a nice and new grocery store and it is very tidy. The location is on the small side and it's tough to navigate when it's packed with people (likely because of all the buzz with it being new). They prices here are definitely high but I do really enjoy their bakery items if I want to get something fairly local in a pinch. Ambiance: The pretend Italian music is still there! It has gone beyond tiresome to very irritating. It's even still out on the nice patio. It grates on you...Sinatra, Dino, Tony Bennet all day all the time. Come on, if you must have music, at least have a variety. You can only listen to "That's Amore" 100 times! Or, even better, peace and quiet. You are spoiling an otherwise pleasant environment. (Your employees must be partially brain dead after listening to this stuff all day long!) First time coming here, I heard cool things about visiting Caputos and what they offer. This place is unfortunately nothing special, it's more like an expensive Marianos with very limited options. It definitely feels like a VIP experience shopping here especially since you don't have the burden of getting wet on and you're close to your parking spot. I was a huge fan of Caputo's cheese market in Lake Forest, but sadly it closed!! I drove 30 minutes to what I believe is the owner of Caputo cheese markets brother's grocery store chain. The store is very nice, clean, pricing was great for imported products. The focaccia was okay not true barese focaccia but they get Five stars for their authentic Italian Cornettos (Italian croissants)- which come in 4 flavors Chocolate , apricot , plain and almond. I spoke with the owner and he said they get the frozen cornetto dough flown in from Italy and then bake it off at their location every morning. How incredible is that?! I grew up visiting Italy every summer- these cornettos bring back me to Italy, so yummy!!! Highly recommend!! read more

I will Never go to caputo's again...I went there to get a case of lemons and ended up with a lot of bad lemons in the box I know they did it cuz of my skin color...I had one of my Caucasian friends get a case and ended up with the box stuffed with good lemons. The store was so clean. So many choices. I needed 00 Italian flour, and there was plenty of choices. Nice deli and a nice Butcher shop. Not bad but legit had to wait a good 10 mins to get gelato because the workers are bots and didnt know people were in line. I also had like 12 people cut in front of me. The service at the hot bar is utterly ridiculous. I place an order with Quillane after I had to get her attention, which alone was UNSAT. She's standing at the register reading a book. I stood there 10-15 minutes waiting for someone to prepare the food. She doesn't need to be at work and reading, that's not proper customer service and instead of her telling me the cook is on break or whatever, she goes back to reading. I've been to the store a few times and if anyone besides her is working the register, it's a pleasant experience. She's needs to be trained better. read more
