Jewel stores are all over the Chicagoland area. You can find one in almost every town and city. This one, in north Arlington Heights is better than most. It's clean and well stocked. Like other Jewels, their produce is very good. Although the selection of varied produce items isn't great, they stock the basics of what you need. If you want a wider variety of fresh produce, you should go to Valli Produce. This store is well laid out making things pretty easy to find. I like their deli counter for their selection of Dietz and Watson cold cuts and their salad selection is large. I don't buy from their bakery often, but have been happy with the quality of baked goods when I have. I have not tried the meat/fish counter at this location so can't speak to that. Like all other Jewels, my big complaint is about their high prices. You can go to Aldi and walk out with similar items for a fraction of what you pay at Jewel. But, for a wide selection, in the Chicagoland area, Jewel can't be beaten. read more

I have shopped at Jewel for many years, I usually go to the one closer to me by Dundee and Hicks. Lately I have been in the area and have gone to this Jewel, it's always fully stocked, rarely out of sale items, and the staff is extremely pleasant and friendly. I will make this my new Jewel even if it is further away. Today while I was checking out, it was busy and the checkout clerk Zach noticed that the bag of avocados was a little light and it looked lite it might have been opened, I was so surprised that he would notice and take the time to make sure I was getting the right amount. This location is really convenient for my commute home. They typically have everything I need when I need it, too. Although Jewel as a whole is more on the pricy side, they have a lot of amazing sales on produce over the summer, and their deli tends to rotate great sales on their chicken and pork chops. A long time staple of the Arlington Heights community, this Jewel-Osco has seen many changes throughout the years. Right now this Jewel-Osco is probably the best that it's ever been, solving many of the problems that used to make it more difficult to recommend amongst the many grocery stores in the area. The biggest complaint I had before was the prices, in generally higher than competitors and it wasn't the easiest to manage coupons. Now, you can digitially clip coupons and it's easy to spot sale items amongst the selection of all the items available. There's still quite a gap in price between on-sale and regular items (a bit higher than elsewhere), but i feel that now there's almost always some option available for anything (dairy, produce, meats, dried goods, etc.) that's competitively priced. The prepared and semi-prepared selection I feel has become a strength now. I'm not sure you'll find anywhere with more prepared hot food, sandwiches, quick cook, etc. options (Mariano's is probably close). In terms of dinners that you can make on your own, I don't think anyone has anywhere close to as many options as Jewel of items such as pot roast and chicken fajita's. There's also quite a mix of buy one get one free veggies to help you mix up sides that you pair with your meat, all of which are competitively priced. The store is overall clean and i feel like there's more decorations and attractive looking displays now. Parking isn't super difficult here, even when they're busy. The inclusion of lots of self checkout lanes also makes it very convenient to visit here when I'm only grabbing a handful of items. read more

Tried to get some fried chicken from the deli and the older man working grumbled "you should have called first". I only asked for 24 pieces of chicken, the pan was overflowing so they still had plenty, but even so I'm paying for it just fulfill the order. Could he have phrased it differently, absolutely, had he just said "next time if you want to phone ahead to ensure we have enough ready for you that would be great". I was annoyed but let it go until he kept shaking his head and sighing. Why should I feel guilty about placing a very reasonable order? This is the worst Jewel to date. I went to pick up my on line deli order and not only was it not ready but they were idiots trying to figure out what to do. Not one person apologized for not having my order ready. They received the incorrect order. I was never told this. No one contacted me to say they needed more information. I bought a birthday cake and cupcakes for my brother. The bakery department was more than willing to make a cake customize for him. I also find some delightful cupcakes to go along. Everything was fresh and most. The store is laid out in a very logical aisle pattern to make it easy to find things in the store. They offer a wide variety of fresh fruits and vegetables and even organic options. The cashiers are very social and personable. People will wait in a long line to interact with them. There are also about 10 self service checkout stations. This jewel also features a floral department with many fresh and fragrant options. These are also very colorful and you can buy nice items such a chocolates, teddy bears, and greeting cards for any special occasion. I've also been lucky enough to win several small prizes from their lotto scratch off tickets available in the self service kiosk. An optimal time to go is early in the morning as there won't be too many people there. It can get pretty busy in the afternoons, particularly on the weekends. This jewel is a gem! read more

I've been trying to avoid certain stores during Covid. But I needed to pick up some flowers and it was late in the day. It seemed this store was my only choice. It turned out to be a very good choice. First of all I was looking for a particular brand of potato chips. I wasn't able to find any on the shelf. An employee was coming down the aisle and I stopped and asked if she could help me. She said she normally doesn't do stocking but would try to assist me. She checked the end caps she looked out the shelf. I even heard her radio someone to see if there might be any in the back. Sadly no. But I was impressed with the effort she took to find me this product. I then went over by the flowers. I found two bunches of flowers that would make a large bouquet. An employee was behind the floral desk. I asked if she could help me put them together. She not only put the flowers together but wrapped them in paper with a ribbon. I was extremely impressed by the presentation. Check out wasn't the best. But the other two employees eagerness to help more than made up for it. You should try the sea food here. It's awesome and delicious. Love the fresh food available daily. Meat is cooked to order on days I don't have time to cook. I love the international aisles to try new foods and the local products. I really like it here, although I wish I had a better schedule to go when its less busy. It always feel over crowded in here during this pandemic. I feel like for safety reasons they should go back to limiting the amount of people in the store at a time. Its really hard to social distance in the checkout lines when there is not a whole lot of space to stand. Other than that, I like the amount of variety in the store and health food options. So so so many things out of stock. And yet so few people restocking. Mostly sale items, and when you ask for a rain check they make you show them the item in app to make sure it's clipped as the previous review stated. Maybe instead of having some kid say gobble gobble or jingle jingle on the intercom every 15 minutes you have him do something useful. The food.. the tomatoes weren't ripe or just moldy sitting in the display? The good ones, they were Bruised or cut. This store has the worst Customer service I have ever witnessed in a grocery store. So often, sale items are out of stock and one has to prove to customer service that the "just for you" is clipped on your phone before they will issue a raincheck. Honestly, the Jewel on Euclid is much more "customer friendly" and accommodating. Euclid will allow substitutions for out of stock sale items where the Rand store, absolutely not. Make a second trip. This is a gem of a grocery store. I never appreciated it until I moved, but the produce is so incredibly fresh & the employees are top notch. Everyone is very kind and will go out of their way to help you find what you are looking for. This store also has a lot more products than a typical grocery store outside of Illinois. This is an old Jewel, and it's being remodeled so it's a *mess*. The employees are generally exhausted looking and trying to avoid customers as much as possible., just like every grocery store. There is a very happy guy outside in the plant department Michael who assertively greets me whenever I go, I don't know what they're feeding or paying him but I wish they'd pass it around. He was helpful and friendl, and I would have left for another store if it weren't for that. I asked at the deli for fried chicken and a short middle aged woman without a name tag was not very nice nor very communicative. I needed something for a family celebration in the bakery department and short blonde Julie should have just asked me to leave instead of helping me find a cake. So unnecessarily rude. Got a very dirty look from a short thick blonde with curly hair who was doing something with a cart and a DUG logo on the back. Isabella in floral was very kind but didn't have what I wanted, suggested I look outside so I went back and Michael found a good replacement for me and bolstered my confidence that my gift was correct. Went through Taylor's checkout lane and she was nice, friendly and efficient. Called the front desk today to find out if this Jewel received it's allocation of Pappy Van Winkle. I was told that they did receive 2 cases = to 12 bottles. When I arrived at the store (15 miles out of my way AND on my lunchbreak) The worker in the liquor department told me that he had already reserved these bottles over the phone by 8:15am this morning. This jewel has a great selection, things always seem to be stocked and organized plus the chicken wings from here are amazing. Staff is always friendly and smiling, willing to help. I have noticed that a couple of the younger staff (17ish?) doesn't seem to know where everything is/are unfamiliar with the store and items carried here. Overall, this jewel is a great location. So I worked here for almost 3 years slinging stock, writing orders, etc, so I know a little something about how grocery retail works. This is one of the best Jewels, or grocery stores of any sort, in the area. Great selection, good prices, and, unlike some other Jewels, the various departments are all well-maintained. The Chef's Kitchen deli counter and the Bake Shop in particular are the best you'll find at a Jewel, and the standard grocery aisles are very well stocked and well laid out. Maybe the best thing about this Jewel is the staff. The people who work at this Jewel tend to be quite good at their job, and the department managers are particularly outstanding. Even the high school kids who've just started working there and have no idea where to find the item you asked about will go out of their way to help out or to find someone else knowledgeable who can.The cashiers and service desk are also very friendly and capable, and very long-suffering with some of the ridiculous customers I've heard them have to deal with. This Jewel really bends over backwards to offer customer service, and still manages to keep a well-stocked and maintained store as well. I've gone to this grocery store for over 20 years, and this is my benchmark for all other grocery stores. You've got to love Illinois, where you can buy liquor, wine, and beer at a grocery store instead of a state-owned store. I never cared about this until I moved to VA and CO, where this is not common practice. Enjoy it while you can, people. This store has a great selection, fresh produce, a great bakery, great meat/sea food, etc. They recently remodeled (and I say recent even though it was about 10 years ago) and it looks great. The parking lot can get a little hairy on the weekends, so be patient and give yourself little extra time. Or just go park at the back and walk the whole 100 feet. I finished ringing up an entire cart of groceries, I asked the attendant a question about a sale price and she skipped through the part with my phone number for all the sales without asking me. Then ignores me for 5 mins while I say "excuse me ma'am" when I realize there's no where to enter my phone number anymore. Another person from customer service walks over to help me and tells me there's nothing I can do ... Abused by Jewels AH Il Nov 29, 2020 After reading these horror story experiences of Jewels customers, I truly feel great empathy for each and every one of you! I thought my experience was bad enough having a driver empty all 12 bags of my groceries on the lobby floor and when I told him i would report him and before leaving he said won't matter because i won't be able to shop at jewels ever again! Confident as he was, he couldn't be more correct! I was banned from deliveries shopping or calling the store every again! I did call and not one manager would speak to me and/or even put me on hold never to respond to hear me except the one called 'George' who cut me off to tell him what happened and hung up on me as was all others to whom I was transferred! The rudeness of managers and customer service/products/ missing in delivery and expired dates together with the shoppers who fill the orders for delivery and erroneous prices are enough to ire the heart of any human being! As a senior citizen I felt especially abused by a tug of war to take my bag from this entitled jerk that he held onto the bag and pulled me toward him and emptied the bag on the floor again. Just because he said and can do to tell me 'take it up yourself! Because he felt I should carry up myself is not what a delivery means! Jewels will be in for a rude awakening when grocery delivery orders are not from once were 'jewel customers or endangered to shop within the store! I've been to this location many times and never have I had any issues with my WIC checks. This manager was rude and nasty when speaking to me. My later-night first visit fooled me into thinking this location wasn't impossible to navigate to and through. I'm 40 years too young to shop here. The last two adventures fell on weekends and I barely lived to tell the tale. The parking lots are a gauntlet. The store is still as clean and nice as I wrote about earlier but it's hard to enjoy that remodel when no one is paying attention to where they are going or who's around them. People jockeyed for spots by the meat or fruit like they were sitting outside for black Friday specials at 2am. Sure, don't go to the grocery store on a weekend, fair enough. But people, this became your fault rather than Jewel's. Just be courteous to others around you and realize your shopping cart isn't a tiny object. It takes up a lot of space. So don't snarl at passing grocery friends, just move along and don't park your self like like those cars we hate who take up 2 spaces just during the holiday rush...grr! I started shopping here for my grandmother who lived up the road, she always had strange things to get from the deli. it is a good clean store where the produce is fresh. so it became my regular grocery store for approx. 2.5 years. The staff is even happy to get something from the back if needed. It is way better than mariano's where the staff seems to be kids wandering around. jewel has a knowledgeable people that are functional, they will immediately open registers when lines are long. read more
