We ordered a 14 inch house special last night for dinner. Stopped in to pick it up, noticed the restaurant was a little dated but clean. The pizza was done right when they said. The menu reads the list of house made ingredients like the pizza sauce, dough, sausage, and meat. The sausage was especially good in my opinion, had a savory flavor of gyro meat maybe. One of my favorite things was the thick blanket of fresh mozzarella cheese that covered the pie. There are lots of Greek style pizza restaurants in the area, but this is a whole nother level. If I could give this place zero stars I would. Horrible, and I mean some of the worst service I have ever received at a restaurant. Both of the waitresses were rude bordering on hateful. Why in the world would any business think that making people wait for over 45 mins for a pizza that is an Imo's knock off is appropriate is beyond me. Go to Imos if you want good pizza because this place isn't it. It may have been around for decades, but will it for the next decade? And it's wonderful that they help the community but damn, how about trying to help out the folks trying to patronize your business??? Good pizza got that old school pizza vibe and smells. Has the classic red and clear cups and tables. This review is going to be one of my most difficult to write. We called and were told that we would have to wait 45 minutes for our food. No biggie. However when we arrived 45 minutes later, we were informed that they did not have an ingredient central to making one of our items. So we then spent the next 30 minutes waiting for them to remake that item with a substituted ingredient. However, it was a busy Friday evening and this is a small family owned place so it's understandable that they wouldn't have the infrastructure to handle a large volume of orders. Once we got our food, it was smooth sailing. We got a 12" pepperoni pizza which was extremely flavorful. They do Greek style pizza which I absolutely love and the crust they use is amazing. We also ordered a plain gyro and the meat may have been some of the most tender and tasteful we have ever enjoyed. It was extremely large for only $10 and the sauce only added to the experience. I got a Nancy sandwich with fries which was supposed to come with sliced beef but even with ham it was delicious. Needless to say, give them more time than they say the order will take, but this place is phenomenal and knows how to do sandwiches and pizza. I will 100% be going back for more! read more

This place is a gem! Excellent food and great service! They have been here since I was born over 55 years ago. One of the best pizzas in the world is right here in Columbia Mo. I love their pizzas and their authentic gyros sandwich's with their famous Greek salads. Owners are the best and very friendly. Will definitely be back. Highly recommended. Tired from traveling, we chose this place based on Yelp reviews. Unfortunately Yelp let us down. The chef salad came with sliced lunch meat salami and packaged salad dressing. Sliced lunch meat? really? The worst offender, by far, was the house special hamburger pizza which in reality was old school cracker hamburger "pizza" with loads of white cheese on top. The mushrooms were canned and had a few boiled onions and green peppers peeking out. It was disgusting! Even my spouse, who eats everything, could barely stomach eating one piece of this monstrosity. Our daughter got a plain cheese pizza which although a little odd,was the best item from our meal. When our server asked if we wanted a box, we told her we didn't like the pizza. She exclaimed " oh, I thought you'd been here before. It's been the same since 1960's." Most people would have taken the pizza and salad charges from the bill with unhappy customers and barely touched food. Sadly, we paid 2022 prices for one of the worst meals ever. read more

The people who work here seem very wonderful. I ordered takeout over the phone - Buffalo wings and a side of fries. There was an overly intoxicated man who was harassing me, to which one of the staff assured me I would not be followed. When I got back home, my wings were actually fried and no sauce. Yes, it is a shabby place and the staff are not professionals dressed up like wait staff and chefs. The food is outstanding. The pizzas are genuine, handmade and they look like it. The Greek salad is a favorite that wakes up the taste buds and can be a full meal. Gyro dinners and sandwiches have generous portions of meat. A pork shish kabob is special. Tony's has a special culture. Seat yourself and don't be in a hurry. Once you place your order, be prepared to wait. The place may look empty, but they have a very business pick-up and delivery business. When you are finished, go to the register where they will calculate your bill. If you want parking, a host, plush seating, subdued lighting, entrees made from pre-prepared components and pay on a tablet computer with a tip choice, there are other places. I have lived in this town for 30 years. I have no idea how this restaurant is still even open. We ordered two large pepperoni pizzas last night that cost over $30! The pizzas were cold and the guy working behind the booth look like he hadn't showered in a month. I attempt to be as polite as I can when I make my reviews. But, since I've been on the stool over 15 times today with the sweats. While my brother-in-law has already thrown up twice. I am pretty certain they are fully responsible. I am not sure how anyone can even eat in this restaurant as it is just simply disgusting and the floor feels like someone has just put a sheet of Crisco to make sure you fall. I will NEVER step foot in order from this place again. It's simply should be closed down. They know exactly what they are serving. They know they are overcharging you for something that literally is a quarter inch thick and taste like cardboard. If I could give zero stars, I would. Do not go here if you do not want to be on the stool all day long. I will happily go to Any other restaurant from now on when I am downtown. For the past 12 years I have been returning to Tony's Pizza Palace four or five times a year. Was a land mark when I was growing up in Columbia in the 60's and 70's and I took dates to Tony's when it was still located on Broadway. Today I tried to make a phone order for carry out and after several attempts the phone rang through only be be answered and immediate placed on hold! I waited 10 minutes before my wife and I drove to the restaurant to place our order there. I never hung up from being on hold and expected the the business to be packed but saw only about a quarter of the tables appeared to have diners and a few more where occupied by customers apparently waiting for take out orders. I saw the waitress and I believe two of the owners cookings. I also saw a delivery driver waiting by a table. One of the owners delivered food to a customer's table while that waitress took a walk up order. I walked around to see the business phone face and noticed two lines on hold (flashing). 24 minutes on hold and the waitress was asking to take my order before she even attempted to answer my calls on hold. I told her never mind that I would not return. It was another three minutes before one of the owner's answered the phone. I expressed my disappointment that I had been on hold for more then 25 minutes and he seemed unconcerned. I loved the food I always got from Tony's but cannot recommend or return to a business that has so little respect for their customers to leave them on hold for 25 minutes. Especially a Pizza place not affiliated with a bar that a good portion of their business is derived from customers carry out or delivery orders. I hope the delivery driver get's paid more then just tips. I would also hope that the owners are hoping that the phone rings all night and would become concerned when it hasn't rang for awhile. My wife and I drove to another pizza place for a carry out order and if I hunger for a Greek style pizza, G&D Steak and Pizza, though not open on Sundays, is only a few extra minutes away! read more
