Wow, this is my favorite place in the area! Great priced food, everything tastes amazing. They package everything very well and gave us lots of utensils, napkins, and extra sauces. The chorizo tacos are absolutely amazing and are a must get, their quesadillas and burritos are also really good, especially their chicken burrito. Just stopped in here for the first time, I believe this restaurant only opened late last week. Great addition to the choices on Spring Street. Apparently there's another Tony's Sombrero down in Pittsfield. Sadly neither has a website or an official facebook presence, nor can I find the menu online anywhere. Maybe I'll scan it and post it as a photo. I had an excellent Grilled Vegetable Giant Burrito to go. Came with some chips & guacamole and small lettuce & tomato salad. Service was pretty quick. They also offer Quesadillas, Tacos, and a variety of entrees (Platos Principales) including Steak, Chicken Floutas, Grilled Salman and Enchiladas. On the back of the menu they mention some seafood dishes (Special Seafood of Mexico), salads, Mexican Tortas and Panini's. Quite the offering for a new restaurant in a relatively small space. I can't vouch for anything but the burrito myself but it was excellent and I'll be ordering more. (Great price too, only $5.50) I didn't realize until after I ordered that drinks were in a cooler near the door, though it appeared they only had a few sodas. I also wasn't entirely sure if I was supposed to be ordering by the counter or was supposed to sit down and be waited on but I was also staring at the menu for the first time so it's not really surprising that the gentleman behind the counter who was busy making some quesadilla's for some other folks wasn't paying too much attention to me. I'm glad this place opened on Spring Street, we needed some more variety and since the sad departure of El Conejo Corredor Williamstown has been sadly lacking in anything Mexican. Growing up in Los Angeles this statement is not one I get to say often east of Barstow... THIS PLACE IS THE REAL DEAL.... Real Mexican food made by real latinos the way its made in Mexico... We showed up with 14 people and they took us right in and it was fast and great. The whole order was made correct and came hot . The salsa Verde was great. We stopped there for lunch because it was well reviewed here on yelp, but the food was incredibly disappointing. I had the enchilada w chicken and mole sauce, and 1) enchilada was barely luke warm, cold in parts ; 2) the mole sauce was way too sweet; 3) when I asked for hot sauce, they gave me a sauce that was neither hot nor tasty; and 4) the cheese was not melted. My husbands carne asada was the toughest driest meat we've ever had. My daughter's 3 tacos w pork was the only half-way decent dish we got. The only reason I gave 1 star is coz the server was really nice and found me some marinated jalapeños, when I asked for something spicier. Really bad - wouldn't recommend going there. This was a great spot for lunch! We happily sat outside, though I will say there was only one table. The ground beef burrito was delicious and the few chips on the side were a nice addition to the plate. The one thing I will say is that there were loads of unexpected veggies in the burrito (mushrooms, green beans, olives) which were good but would be tough if you're picky. We were short on time for lunch, but we were in out and out quickly. It's a small place inside, five tables. I ordered the three tacos with chicken, hold the taco shells. The chicken was quite good. I also ordered a side of guacamole but it was so spicy (not expected!), I couldn't eat it. My daughter ordered the burrito and she thoroughly enjoyed it. It was so big she didn't finish it. I would recommend possibly stopping in here after copious amounts of drinking. Other than in that instance, one can have a much better food experience for their $. When I had lunch here last week, the chubby man in his 40s had to finish playing with his cell phone before helping me. And then a couple minutes later when he was ringing me up and I handed him my Visa card, he said "thats not working right now, please pay cash, I see that you have some cash". Ummm, you have a sticker on your register that has the Visa logo. So, after him hemming and hawing and then taking an additional personal call on his cell phone in front of me while I was trying to pay, he finally took my card and swiped it. Turns out, the credit card machine worked just fine.....what a jerk. As for the food, it was decent, the burrito was a bit small however and kinda expensive at $8 in a Western Mass college town. This place holds its own in the Spring Street standings. It's a small place - just a couple tables, and most people I saw were stopping in for takeout. The menu has a good amount of variety, but it looks like their burritos are the go-to order. I went with the tacos al pastor. Mmm tacos. Super generous portions, good homemade cone tortillas. The pork could have used a little more flavor. I loved the salsa verde but wish I had gotten more chips to eat it with. But it is a great mom and pop Mexican restaurant similar in nature to those one would find in areas of the US with larger populations of Mexican-Americans. We walked in to this nice little spot in Williamstown. Delicious fresh food and found cheerful service. Prices are very affordable @ $8-11 per dish, with Mexican sodas at 2 bucks apiece. Thank the Mexican gods for Tony's Sombrero! Although I love Coyote Flaco, Tony's is way better priced and is soooo delicious! It's a 20 minute drive from me, but very worth it! The people who work here are very nice. This food is the real deal. It scream authenticity. I always tell the owner that my Mexican soul is happy (lol). If you're looking for good Mexican food for a reasonable price (most meals are $8-10) Tony's is a great place to check out. I usually get the quesadilla de chorizo which never disappoints. The service is great, however restaurant hours are a bit inconsistent. Seldom are they open during the hours listed on the menu (it often feels like they're open only a few days out of the week) which is a bummer because the food is a local fave amongst students! read more

I stopped in for the first time last night and had the carnitas burrito and a chicken quesadilla. The ingredients were of high quality, but what was lacking was a bit of flavor! I was hoping for some spice, hot sauce, spicy salsa, etc. Even if these are offered on the side, it would make a huge difference, since the base is there for really great food. We ate at Tony's Sombrero today for the first time. So yummy! You order at the counter/register and then sit- my husband and I both had the chicken enchiladas with Mole sauce, which were great. After moving to Bennington from Tempe, AZ, where there are multiple decent to excellent 24-hour taco stands within a one-mile radius of anywhere as well as $100-a-plate Mexican restaurants (and everything in between), I spent my first year going through major withdrawals. Rattlesnake Cafe's take on Mexican cuisine is abysmal and Taco Bell shouldn't warrant mention, but it's still better than Rattlesnake. Sadly, that the best place in Bennington for Mexican food is Chili's. Yup, Chili's. Given these options, the 20 minute drive to Williamstown to try Tony's Sombrero Mexican Cuisine was nothing and the payoff was great. My boyfriend and I each tried burritos, with fresh, tasty sauces. We were so happy to have finally found REAL Mexican food (Sonoran style, as opposed to Tex-Mex or California Mexican). The place is cozy, with only a few tables for indoor seating, so grabbing a burrito or tamales and eating outside during nice weather might be ideal. There drink choices are limited to non-alcoholic selections, so don't expect killer margaritas. Basically, Tony's is a taco stand with a few seats for convenience. Go for the great food at inexpensive prices. read more

I got the pollo (chicken) giant burrito. When I got my burrito it was very hot but once it cooled down it was delicious. All over it was very authentic with lots of Latin American decor. Much better than Desperatos and takes only about 5 minutes to get your food. I would recommend this for anyone who wants quick great Mexican food. read more

Don't be put off by the name. Tony's Sombrero, even though it sounds like a cross between Italian and Mexican, is surprisingly good and reasonably priced Mexican food. It's a nice casual spot, and I recommend sitting in the w and doing some people watching on Spring Street. read more
