Chips and Guac (8/10): Guac was very solid. Chips were crunchy. Ceviche (4/10): Not good. Mahi mahi did not taste fresh. Texture and taste were both kind of off. The ceviche also wasn't sour enough. I wish our waitress had warned us we were ordering chips twice, as this dish came with chips as well. Tacos de Hongos y Nopal (7/10): Pretty good! The mushrooms and cactus were pretty tender. Empanada (8/10): Loved the texture of the masa. The stuffing was delicious, as was the pistachio mole. Broccolini (4.5/10): The broccolini was not cooked tender enough. The stems were pretty tough to chew through. The flavor of this dish was too one-note. Lacked complexity and balance. We had some really good food, but the ceviche and broccolini kind of ruined it for us. Location next to MoCA is really convenient, though. We celebrated our wedding anniversary with a dinner at Casita and had a lovely time. Excellent Oaxacan cuisine served here at CASITA on the MASS MOCA campus. Highly recommend the Mole Negro with its depth of flavours and spice. The Tlayuda is gigantic and filled with delicious variety of ingredients. The Cadillac Margarita is potent and delicious *Great Mezcals are on the drinks menu. *Do start with their tasty guacamole & chips. *The waitstaff are very attentive and lovely. We were at Mass Moca for the freshgrass festival and arrived hungry so stopped in at Casita for dinner prior to being let into the venue. I was pretty underwhelmed. For the weekend due to freshgrass it was a limited menu and counter service that was brought to your table when prepared. I ordered a margarita which was very good, and the mahi mahi plate. The food consisted of a salad lightly dressed with evoo, black beans, rice, 2 roasted green onions, and ~4 oz of mahi mahi. Also included was a foil package containing 6 flour tortillas. There was a small salsa bar which was super nice. It consisted of pickled veggies with jalapeños, pickled onions, and several different salsas to choose from. While I'm not positive, I'm pretty sure everything was made well beforehand. Everything from the wilted mixed green salad to the fish to the beans was the same temp and it wasn't hot. I couldn't think of a better way to end our afternoon at the MoCA then to grab an early dinner right on the campus. The salad was fresh, the side dishes were loaded with flavor, and there were many vegetarian options! The ice cream, which is made by another vendor in the museum that is local to the area, was exceptionally good Colan the Mexican chocolate had a nice chocolate base with a good amount of spice, and the cinnamon ice cream was loaded with flavor. The Casita patio overlooks the main museum entrance and is beautifully shaded in the early afternoon in the summer by cantilevered umbrellas. Our server was really friendly and the food came out promptly. This was a great experience for us and our guest who was visiting for the day! Expecting the meat to be removed from the bone and presented tastefully, instead I received two bones with barely any meat at all. What was there was tough and very hard to remove, especially because I wasn't given a proper knife. The tortillas were fine. The guacamole was fine though a very small portion. If I could leave a 0 I would. What a horrible establishment to represent Mexican food. Waited more than enough time to even revive water. The enchiladas were vegan with a hard vegetable filling which makes no sense. Menu is extremely misleading with outrageous prices. Adding a side of rice and beans (which should be a given at any Mexican) was 7+ dollars on top of the already pricey "enchiladas." Overall the worst Mexican I have ever endured. Margaritas come in a subpar glass size in which hard liquor should be served on the rocks. If you want Mexican I highly recommend you don't go to Casita. Thanks! read more

This place is a gem - we're lucky to have food of this caliber in the Berkshires. I finally branched out from their fried chicken sandwich which is to die for, and had the pollo asado with greens. I really like the ambiance and decor of this restaurant, but I can't recommend the food. Tacos were both greasy and bland. We tried all four, of them the chorizo was ok, the carnitas was edible, and the mushroom/poblano and barbacoa were close to inedible. Disappointing that there was only one non-meat option.
