Absolutely love Tony's pizza. In my opinion it's one of the best pizza places in the area. I remember going into Tony's back in the early 80s when it was just a tiny little shack and Tony himself was working behind the counter. The profits that he and his business Erna help pay for the additional family from Greece. It's a very busy place, they always have their order correct. They're always friendly. Saying hello when you walk in the door and thank you come again as you walk out. I can't recommend this place enough. I wish I could give 10 stars. We had an impromptu family stop at Tonys after we went to the pumpkin patch. Kind of awkward when we first walked in. No one greeted us or told us where to sit etc... But they did have a person spraying and wiping tables which was great. Staff wore masks! We ordered at the counter and sat, then waited for our number to be called. My wife loved her steak and mushroom hoagie, my Chicken Parm was okay, the chicken was odd.. definitely from a package...My 4 and 2 year olds got chicken nuggets and mac and cheese. The amount of nuggets and fries for the price was awesome. The mac and cheese was a plastic container of Kraft for like $7...not the greatest value but we knew what we were ordering so...both kids meals came with ice cream cups as well. I've eaten here a few times. It's nothing really remarkable in my opinion. I frankly prefer Harry's much better, but this place was closer and on the way. We went there twice this week. First time I had the Ceasar salad, which was super plain and pretty boring. It was just lettuce, shredded cheese, and croutons. The second time I went, I had a toasted turkey sandwich. It was again just ok, but I didn't like the way it was made. They used like a hoagie roll, meat was laid in the bottom with all the lettuce, tomatoe, onion, etc on top, so when you would fold it and bite into it, you either got a mouthful of meat, or lettuce. I like my sandwiches to have equal amounts of everything in each bite, its just tastier that way! My mom had a chicken sandwich. Again, nothing remarkable...just your everyday, average, crispy chicken sandwich. Really good food, tons of options, and reasonable prices. We were in the area to try out a new play place for our toddler and were all starving after. This was super close so we gave it a try. Got a pizza, fries and mozzarella sticks. Fries were so crispy and delicious. Mozzarella sticks and pizza were awesome too! Sauce was good and tons of cheese on the pizza. Very long wait for a simple cold vegetable sub. Prepared incorrectly (left off things so ordered, left on things I asked to leave off.) The mushrooms were soggy and tasteless. Very small amount of peppers. Mostly white colored lettuce and a couple of slices of tomato. A place like Tony's is one that makes nostalgia erupt from your mind, whether you like it or not, been there a million times, first time ever or first time in a long time. This establishment has been around since 1981 and it feels like it as soon as you walk in. If you grew up in New England you probably had a major win on you T ball team or had a rough football practice and Tony's is where the coach ( or your dad, after a crushing loss, said "its ok champ' how about a slice?) would take you. My personal nostalgia is after ice skating with my aunt or pop I they would bring us here. Or after a movie in later years as a teen at the Rustic Drive in we would take over Tony's and stuff our little adolescent faces here. Now I bring my nephew here and as of late my bf to experience the amazing food here. They support local youth sports here and have since day 1. This is also another great thread in the web of our NE community, and this place has it down.Photos of teams from every sport you can imagine going back to the 80's. Everything is made with care - though you may not consider the food to come out that quick compared to other places, quality takes time!! so for the pizza, the crust is a classic perfected thick Greek crust. Not oily, perfectly crispy but not overdone. Holds up to the heaviest toppings, and the most delectable pizza sauce I've had outside the north end. They don't put too much or too little of anything in the dough or sauce.. its crazy how perfect it is with ANY kind of pizza you could conjure up. Sometimes when we have the munchies and head to Tony's we end up testing the limits of how much you can fit on a pizza without it bottoming out -but they manage to craft it all together EVERY time, Ingredients here are great, always fresh and never a soggy sandwich. I love pepperoni mushroom on my pizza and nothing is more of a turn off than canned mushrooms ( google it - you;ll never eat those again) but not here, they are always fresh and plentiful - if you love the fungus like me you should appreciate it too. I've had all kinds of subs here and I'll say now that the meatballs are humongous - so go hungry if you are opting for that classic - size doesn't change from pasts to sammich either! . After trying basically all of them over the years, I can say the pita pocket blt is probably the simplest but most delicious thing here!! So satisfying, slightly toasty pita bread stuffed with BLT and pickles and cheddar cheese.. UGH I want 7 of them right now. Salads are big and fresh and they actually MAKE their salad dressing which is always outstanding. My fasve is the greek salad but if you get a chance, get an italian sandwhich here and get greek dressing on the side. Its the most heavenly thing to dip your sammich into and it may even keep you awake at night....! I really can't say anything bad about the food. Staff is always attentive and usually friendly but always hard working- never seen people lazing about or chatting it up and ignoring the front like some places. Its a very kid friendly place, with some toy vending machines and gumballs etc.. The downstairs area they close off when its slow, but when its busy on a friday night or after a movie gets out this place can be quite bustling. Hadn't been back to Sutton pizza in almost 15 years and wow I can't believe it still looks,smells and tastes exactly like I remember as a kid!! The new entrance/exit makes it even easier in and out and really that was the only thing that was different to me. The cute fish tank is still there and now as an adult I know they serve beer and wine. Not a huge selection, a few bottled beers a few on draft and a handful of wines to chose from...but thats all ya need! We got a large pepperoni pizza and mozzarella sticks that were unbelievable. Their pizza is so light on your stomach but the flavor is like no other. Prices are so reasonable we were able to get the food plus 2 beers, wine and 2 pieces of carrot cake for around $40. During storm duty during the 2011 pre-halloween freak storm, there were loads of angry people without power. I understand your frustration. Hate me, but I work to restore your power. Storm duty - Line patrol consists of noting locations where there are downed powerlines. Simple, but we do not want to close a circuit where there is a possibility of electrocuting kids/dogs/stupid people playing jumprope with zappy wires. End Tangent/Start of review... Tony's was our staging point for much of the most of the week. We would meet here in the morning (some people dead from guarding a downed line through the night) and get our grub. Darned good grub. We were all over Sutton/Northbridge/Auburn/MIllbury/Grafton. We could have chosen a better place, had there been one, to wind down after touring backroads a few hundred miles. Come here if.... You are not on a diet.... You want steak on your steak and cheese sandwich the size of a pug... You want to be 'healthy' and polish off a salad, also the size of a pug... You are a fan of fishtanks built into flooring... You need to grab a bite on the way up to Wachusett...(buy your season pass before 8/31 and get 2 Fall Festival Tickets and 2 SkyRide Tickets) You don't believe me... You believe me... We ordered the veggie pie, and expected it to be a bit weighed down and wet - as most veggie pies can get, but this one was perfect! Tons of veggies, like an inch high, the cheese is on top, the crust is actually a crust - not a soggy sad situation. It was very impressive. Their salads are great also, fresh and with variety. The restaurant is really big, and feels like a big pizzeria, italian family restaurant, greek joint - and it's just fun! I would always drive by this place on my way to and from Umass Amherst. I had always heard good things about it, but never had the time to stop by and try their food. However, my family was helping me move back home from school, so we decided to give at a go. The place has only sit down and take out there is no delivery. They have an extensive menu that mostly focused on their pizza, but has a large selection of sandwiches to choose from as well. I decided to go with the Reuben sandwich because it is one of my favorite sandwiches. The food did take a very long time, but the place was busy which made me confident the food must be good. The crowd was a mixture of old, young, and a bunch of teenagers. When the sandwich came it looked like it had been in the panini press for too long. The sandwich had a generous amount of corned beef on it, but way too much Russian sauce. There was a limited amount of sauerkraut, but I actually like when restaurants are light with the sauerkraut because it can over power the sandwich. The sandwich I would give a 6/10 I wouldn't go out of my way to get it again, but if I was in the area I would get it. If I ever go again I want to try their pizza because I saw a lot of people ordering it and it looked amazing. My parents both got salads and they looked pretty basic, nothing special. read more

Ordered three large subs here; two Italian and one steak. The Italians were delicious. Loaded with meat and toasted just right. I'm not kidding when I use the term 'loaded', as it was tough to fit the sub in my mouth given all of the meat in it. The vegetables that accompanied the subs were fresh and tasty. The steak sub was cooked also cooked well and was very tasty. We got the subs to go and called ahead; so with that said, the wait was insignificant. Prices were fair. I used the restroom while I was waiting and to be honest, it wasn't as clean as I would expect given the place opened only 5 minutes before we arrived. Nothing too disgusting, just lots of paper towels around and a feeling of untidiness. It could have been the other party that was in the corner booth, who knows. read more

It's GREEK STYLE PIZZA! My experience at Tony's yesterday rejuvenated my interest in updating my yelp reviews. We were on a trip back to western mass and found ourselves hungry in the "middle of no where." I opened my yelp app just to see what popped up. Tony's was one of the few places easy to pull on/off the main road though it was only rated 3 stars and looked to have a lot of mixed reviews, we didn't expect much going in. The place was bumpn'!! This is not your fancy wood fired thin crust gourmet pizza, nor is it New York style big gooey slice of pizza nor is it chicago style for your deep dish/lot-o-crust folks. You have to know what KIND of pizza you are getting and judge it based off of that type of pizza. This honestly reminds me of a classic yummy, 80's style pizza oven pizza at the local bar/restaurant that I often experienced in the midwest (wisconsin). I understand this to be what many call "greek style." The crust was a mix of chewy/flaky but between a thin and medium crust. The toppings and cheese, I thought were pretty yummy and a classic fountain cola hit the spot. Now, I can't speak to all the other food there but if you know the TYPE of pizza you are getting, this ranks up there in that category. It's unfair to compare this to New York style, Chicago style or gourmet - this is just another style of pizza. Again, I am brought back to my childhood in the 80's eating this pizza and gone are the days of the classic pizza oven. Wish I could give ZERO stars, they do not deserve any! Went to this place for the first and last time. I have not ever nor will I ever have an issue with parting with my money at a restaurant. With so many restaurants available no one restaurant should allow its employees to conduct business for them that neglects the customer. I had an issue with the service here. I am NOT going to expand on it because then the management can read this and correct the problem for future customers which does not include me. It seems that if a small town in the Northeast or the mid Atlantic has a restaurant at all it will be a pizza place. Sutton is no exception and Tony's is the place. Actually Sutton fared well in this as Tony's isn't a bad place. It's big, clean and airy. Staff is friendly. I had the steak deluxe. Not bad, but as I have spent the last 4 years looking for the best cheese steak in the Philly area, the standard is quite high. The best thing about the sandwich was the roll. The light toasting crisped up the crust perfectly. The fries were good but I'm kind of negative on dusting them with flour , if that's what it is, to make them more crispy. MK had an order of meatballs that she loved. Then again she's never met a meatball she didn't like. One small gripe, soda refills at the machine were $0.50.
