No better way to save $10 a month than to rock free Pandora in your Mexican restaurant supported by fried chicken ads. Waitress: "What can I get you to drink?" Me: "Diet" Waitress: "Diet Dr. Pepper?" Me: "Uh...wut?" Waitress: "Well, that's the only diet soda we have." She then brought out a 12oz can and charged me $1.75. Had to ask for chips and salsa. Charged me $3.00 for those. Salsa tasted like it came from a jar in the chip aisle at Kroger. God's Eleventh Commandment was "No Mexican restaurant shall ever chargeth for chips and salsa." There is a reason no successful Mexican restaurant ever has. Your customers are eating at your competitors' restaurants. Charging for something the competition gives away for free is a relationship ender. Find the $3.00 some other way. I asked if one of the green salsas was made with beer because it was carbonated. Unreassuringly, the waitress almost agreed with me that it was probably just naturally fermenting. The burrito suizo came in a porcelain boat so narrow I had to eat it by taking out core samples from the top down. The top was covered by a thick layer of solid cheese that I was able to fold over like the toupée of a corpse on a brisk, but not too cold day. Probably would not go back. The vibe was "We are running a restaurant, but have never actually been to one." I wish them the best of luck.

No water or soda available on tap, outrageous prices for them bottled. That they forgot to bring until asked. We love to support a new place, but come on, no one knows what's going on here at all. I have NEVER been served a margarita in a rocks glass EVER! Tasted watered down as well and was $7.00. I am attaching photos of bill and pics of food. Please be ware if thinking of this place. 1 grilled jalapeño was $3.00! I do hope they end up doing well, but we won't be back anytime soon! Look at the reciept!

We just got around to trying this restaurant on the Fox River in Ottawa. This location was…read morepreviously long established supper club and was only recently sold. It's now Mexican restaurant, and GDL is short for Guadalajara. The interior still shouts 'supper club'...dim, dark wood, booths with high backs and vinyl. The music is Mexican. And not too loud. We were greeted and seated promptly in one of the booths (we were a party of four), by a friendly waiter, who brought water and menus right away. The menu has a great variety of Mexican staples. The drinks menu is big on margaritas (none of us are fans), a few varieties of wines, and the standard beers. We opted for soft drinks. All dishes are served with rice and beans. We had chile rellenos, carnitas, burritos...all were well prepared and the servings were generous. The prices are very reasonable. This was an overall good experience, and we enjoyed the evening. Parking is ample behind the restaurant, and there is handicapped parking with handicap access. An overall good experience.

We dined on a Tuesday evening and it was pretty dead inside. The interior is brighter than the former Monte's. The decor is pretty neat and the bar is super cute. They did a nice job renovating this space. Lots of Roman Empire female warriors on the walls. I ordered the fish tacos and had beans in place of rice. That is a delicious meal! The sauce is so good. Huge portions and plenty of fish. My bro got the shrimp verde plate and added chorizo. He also replaced the rice for beans. He loved this meal, very flavorful. Mom got a la carte ground beef taco and cheese and onion enchilada which she enjoyed. The menu is extensive and the prices are good. The staff are very friendly and kept checking on us through our time here. Ruben was an excellent server. The only minor gripes are it was a bit chilly in here, and there was no music in the dining area. Very quiet. The food is great so we are definitely coming back.
