    A really tasty double cheeseburger.
    Chris E.

If you're looking for a good hot dog and burger joint, and you're driving past LaSalle, IL on I-80, I would strongly recommend The Dog House. It's basically a carry-out hot dog stand situated right in the middle of Main Street that offers a handful of benches to sit at. Small and family-owned, the service was prompt and friendly. There are thousands of places like this throughout the U.S., so IMO if you want to stand out, you gotta step-up you're game and offer something unique or different. The Dog House has chosen to serve up probably 40 or so different varieties of hot dogs based on cities across the country. Not sure how anyone would substantiate their claim that a hot dog from Fresno would be topped with bacon, tomatoes and cream cheese, but that's not really the point, is it?!? The folks that own this place have either spent a ton of time researching what hot toppings go on their tasty dogs, or they just made some shit up. Either way, it's a super fun way to keep folks coming back and it also guarantees that you won't soon forget your trip to the Dog House. Smart. BTW, for whatever reason, I opted for the Portland Dog - which featured a perfectly cooked hot dog topped with mayo, pickle relish and celery salt. It was fantastic. We also tried a Chicago Style dog, since that's our hometown favorite, and the Dog House nailed it! From the sport peppers, to the celery salt, to the pickle spear... someone did their homework. Well done. We also ordered a double cheeseburger and some cheese fries. Again both were fantastic. Crinkle cut fries cooked perfectly with the processed cheese sauce that one just expects at a spot like this one. The double cheeseburger was a nice surprise. Made to order, the burger pattys were a good size and they were cooked to perfection on the griddle. If I lived any closer to LaSalle, IL this would be a regular stop for me... if only to try all the different types of hot dogs!

Was in town and decided to try this hot dog stand. The variety of options sounded great. I had a deep fried hot dog and a Baltimore. I was not impressed at all with either hot dog. The one I chose that I remember had cheese and grilled onions. I love grilled onions except that this grilled onion was more like tiny pieces of burnt onions. My fries were not good. Overall a huge disappointment. The menu sounded great but what I ordered was not good. I prefer the hot dogs from Portillos.

Great service. Great hotdogs! Delish. We tried the Las Vegas & San Antonio ! Delish!!! Small place but great taste and service ! Prices are great we paid $10 for two dogs and drinks. Will be coming back!

The Explosion Sandwich, Las Vegas dog, and spicy cheese curds - delicious!

I saw this place on Yelp and was immediately intrigued with the menu. There was no way I was going to pass this place up while in town. It's a small shop with enough room for a service counter and 3 small tables. The staff was very friendly and took my order right away. I ordered the Los Angeles dog and nacho fries and got my food within 5 minutes. The LA dog has a deep fried hot dog which tastes a bit like a corn dog. It also has ketchup, mustard, mayo, pepper, bacon, and grilled onions. Nacho fries are your standard fries topped with shredded cheese, jalapenos, sour cream, and salsa. Both the hot dog and nacho fries were really good! I was curious to try the Explosion Sandwich (which has chicken strips, mozzarella sticks, fries, and marinara!) so I stopped by the same day for dinner. This time, I got the explosion sandwich, spicy cheese curds, and a Las Vegas dog. The cheese curds were AMAZING! The sandwich was also very good! I do wish there was a bit more marinara on it. If you usually like your sandwiches saucy, ask for an extra side of marinara. Nonetheless, this sandwich filled with deep fried goodness was yummy! The Vegas dog had chili, shredded cheddar, mustard, onions, jalapenos, and guacamole. I am so glad I got this one, it was delicious! Overall, the menu options are plentiful and creative! Whether you're feeling a traditional Chicago dog or something more adventurous, this place is a great choice! They use Vienna Beef dogs and poppy seed buns, the necessities of a good hotdog. My soul was definitely satisfied after eating here. They also have punch cards that let you get a free hot dog, fries, and drink after 10 purchases.

They have some pretty typical bar food if you like fried things. Bar and grill, with most of the focus being on the beers and cocktails. It's just best to not take chances and play it safe. The bar looks pretty divy from the outside, and rest assured it's like that on the inside too. Amazing that it's in the middle of a residential neighborhood. There must be noise complaints one can imagine about the crazy patrons. It's about $3 for the cheapest drinks. There's often specials including on beers and wells. Food menu has greasy favorites. It's about $8 for a burger or a sandwich. Loads of toppings. Big menu but most of it is meaty. There's a few things made with avocado and sprouts, but usually in combination with bacon or something. For sure it has a lot of choices if you're looking for typical bar food. It's located on the street it's named for obviously. They're even open for breakfast, so you can get your drinking on early, while getting eggs and whatever.

Coffee wasn't kept filled and had to grab silverware from another table so food wouldn't get cold. At one point the server filled one person's coffee cup at the table, left and never came back even though everyone else had empty cups as well. Didn't ask anyone, just poured it and left. Food and drinks were not good. Edible but wouldn't ever come back. We had a variety of meals because we had a large party. Not a single thing was remarkable in a good way. The two things that were exceptionally bad were the biscuits and gravy and veggie skillet. The gravy was bland and not creamy. The biscuit tasted and looked like it was a made from the freezer. The veggies in the skillet: undercooked onion, frozen spinach, canned mushrooms, ok fresh tomato. Just overall not good. Coffee tasted slightly above water and lukewarm. Decor was generic. I would equate this entire experience to an institutional meal at like a low grade retirement facility or something similar.
