Love coming here! It's right down the street from my house so very convenient and always a pleasure! I love that there are always sample teas, I have a dream of trying every tea but that would mean I'd have to stop ordering the same thing every time. It's always very clean and staff is always very helpful and friendly. I've gotten their elixirs the last few times and have really enjoyed them! Nice staff, nice atmosphere. It's a nice place to get a cup of tea or coffee and relax. However, I am a long-time connoisseur of fine imported green tea, and the quality of their Chinese tea, in particular, is quite low. If you go to the web sites of TeaVivre, TeaTrekker, VerdantTea, AmazingGreenTea, etc., you will find that Dragonwell (Long Jing) tea has a very specific appearance - beautifully and uniformly shaped leaves. The 'Dragonwell' sold by Too Soul Tea looks like cut grass from the yard - like trash stems and large leaf pieces (check out the picture on their site, even). The flavor of REAL Dragonwell tea is NOTHING AT ALL like the tea you buy here at Too Soul Tea. I mean, NOTHING like the real thing. I tried the tea we bought here and it was nearly undrinkable it was so bad - tannic, harsh, lacking in complexity and just overall nasty. If you tried the Chinese tea here, I encourage you to try the real thing instead. Real Dragonwell has a natural sweetness and a lovely hint of nuttiness and spice depending on the grade and how much it was toasted. In China, it is like fine wine harvests - the tea gardens have specific terroir and graded official designations. Real Dragonwell at the highest grades will not be available outside of China, generally, but even their less precious tea gardens produce some amazingly delicious green teas. They are very serious about the quality of their teas and would be APPALLED to see what is being sold here at this store. And the highest grades of Dragonwell from REAL Chinese tea gardens is not cheap. The highest grades (emperor-level grades) will be hundreds of dollars an ounce. However, the lower grades are still really wonderful and are more affordable. It's too bad that these guys don't understand Chinese tea. Probably their other teas are ok - and if you only want flavored teas it won't matter much what the base tea is anyway. Don't buy green tea that doesn't have a harvest date (like the teas here). High grade teas don't last forever and need to be consumed within a year of harvest. read more

I really enjoy their orange black tea, but I'm currently drinking a raspberry peach green tea.. because I just can't decide! You can order various sizes, up to a 24ounce personal pot of tea! I am always just asked "what would you like" and when you try to ask about drink suggestions the little girls in there make you feel like a huge inconvenience. Really lovely tea place!! There were two really nice ladies working there. I asked them very vaguely about which tea I should get for a "desert-y earl grey" and their "favorite green tea blend." They suggested to me the Lady Earl and the Blackberry Jasmine tea and YUM! So delicious. The Earl is strong, sweet, and full, and the jasmine was light, fruity, and refreshing. I don't know how to really describe teas-- I'm not a freakin' expert. All I know is that if you're overwhelmed with all the delicious options they have, but want something simple and delicious, definitely try either of those. I bought those two teas in a bag to bring home and it was much more affordable than Teavanna (at around $14 for both bags compared to my usual $22 for my two teas from teavanna). From the distant and seemingly aloof staff to the decor and even the way the tea is presented "too soul tea co." lack the warmth, flavor and community a tea place should and could have. This business wouldn't last a year in a larger city with any sort of competition. Their pastries and muffins taste artificial and it shows they dont take time to procure high quality snacks. I had no idea what to expect here. So, first things first, they're in the old Co-Op location, which is a house converted to retail. It's a small space, maybe 600 sq. ft. Being a Co-op member, it was surprising to me that the Co-op ever fit in the space. They've added a small patio out back (3 tables?) that's a a walled-in vinyl/tarp type affair. The interior is such that when you walk in, the ordering counter takes up the right 1/3 or so of the store, the middle third is a walkway, and the left 1/3 contains seating - a half dozen, colored and sealed concrete surface two tops, some chairs, and built in benches along the wall. I really liked the colors of the poured concrete tables, and they seem to have utilized the space well. All that being said, we walked in and there were maybe a half dozen folks sitting, and another half dozen waiting to order, and the GF and I definitely ended up shuffling and dancing around in the small space with the other customers. It didn't help that we had backpacks/messenger bags and I had my bicycle helmet. The flow doesn't work either - as they've got a single point of entry, there's no good way for them to do customer flow. They've got it set up so you order towards the back, and then pay near the middle of the counter, and then pick up your order closest to the door if you've got to go. Probably the best they could manage with the small space, but when we walked in, trying to get towards the back, and the rear of the line, was definitely a bit of a challenge. They offered us Mighty Leaf double-wall glass tea bowls to sample the tea they had on the back counter, while we waited. The GF, who was not in a good mood to start, was not happy that it probably took us five minutes or so to order, but that was a non-issue for me. In any case, I appreciated their extensive tea selection, probably close to 100 teas, and their menu does a good job separating out the teas by type. I had an Earl Grey Assam, and the reason for the long-ish wait became evident as I watched them prep the teas, individually preparing each one, and making sure to time them all differently depending on the variety of tea. Looks like they've got a fair amount of retail as well, selling the teas, as well as lots of Bodum and other manufacturers tea presses, pots, etc. We were hoping to spend an hour or so getting some work done on the laptops, and it was definitely a cozy fit. They've got wifi, though you do need to ask for the password. They've put outlets along the built in along the wall - unfortunately, the setup was such that none of the open tables had access to an outlet. I'm sure we could have asked someone at one of the neighboring tables to use their unused outlets near their legs, but we didn't feel like imposing. I like the cozy, small space, and love their tea selection - just next time I come here, I wouldn't bring the laptop, and instead I'd be planning for a slow paced outing, and just relax and chat with someone over a pot of tea. read more

My fourth visit here - the tea has always been good and the service has always been super friendly, informative, and fast. Each of my four visits I've been greeted within 5 seconds of stepping inside with "hi, would you like to try our tea of the day?" That consistency is the sign of a well managed operation. They have a LOT of teas to choose from but they always take the time to make recommendations and answer questions. I've also purchased loose leaf tea here to brew at home and the employee (don't know her name, but they are lucky to have someone like her) explained to me in detail how to brew my tea. I went in just for a cup of coffee. Surprisingly, cool for the space and place I must say. the next time my sister flies in this is a place I would like to show her. It was nice out, so I sat outside in their gated off area. Pleasant environment. I noticed inside, in bad weather their is a u shaped booth running the length of a wall that allows seating for up to six couples. The building is orange with green trim- beautiful paint wrap in my high school colors. a work of art. One thing I noted. In their reach in cooler their are some very delicious mouth watery looking fat Sandwiches. Now I had just eaten breakfast but you can bet someday soon I am going in there wrap my mouth around one of those fat boys. If you like sandwiches then you best get in there too. It looks the coffee and tea menu is extensive and they also have sconce type pastry too. I was surprised at 11AM when I came by that there were three other groups of customers, an indication this thing is becoming popular. Where to begin. If I could give 10 stars I would. I've been going to Too Soul for my tea fix close to daily for about a year now, and before that point I would go by probably at least twice a week. The tea is so good. I mean I've tried the whole menu at this point, and yes, there are some I won't ever have again, but you can't really expect every tea to be for everyone. The ones I like, I LOVE. The staff has always been friendly, from my days as a first timer, to today as they greet me by name. Service is what will make or break an experience for me but even if they weren't friendly I would probably brave it for that Vanilla rooibos. The prices are completely reasonable, and there are several ways to save: the stamp card, you get 10% off when you bring in your old tea tin, the daily teas are cheaper & with them you get a free refill, and you get 5% off if you get it in your mason jar (see photo), which I should have invested in a hundred teas ago to be honest but I'm glad to have it now. Overall, I came for the adorable, local, small businessy vibe (I'm a sucker for such places) and stayed for the amazing tea and genuine service. :) I'll probably go here until I die (which should be at age 110 because of all the health benefits of tea. ;D ) read more

Taking mom and my niece riding around Downtown the other day looking for new interesting places we never tried before. We drove by the back of this really small bright orange place that we drove by before and wanted to go see what it was. I almost didn't go into the driveway when I saw Too Soul Tea Co. (wasn't in the mood for tea), but mom said to just drive up and check it out. We parked right in front of the building and there was a menu board out front on the wall that had there special. Some kind of Buttered Hazelnut Delight coffee drink and they got moms attention. Cool little place inside and looked like they had a good selection of tea to choose from. Enough seating for maybe 8-10 people and I think the have a small covered seating area out back. I'm not that much of a coffee drinker so I just ordered my mom the Buttered Hazelnut drink and tried some of it. Hoooo dang doggie! That thing was gooood! As I was drinking it, I was telling mom that it tasted like they put tea in it and I found out after that they do add black tea to that drink, which gives it a nice light refreshing taste. We didn't order any but, their muffins look so good. Definitely wanna go back and try them. The other thing I thought was cool was how there address was 542 1/2 which matched the place perfect! Although we only tried one drink, no reason not to give it 5 Stars for now. The drink was really good and the service was good too! And their restroom was clean! read more

When I first moved out to Reno, a co-worker brought me to Too Soul Tea. Coming from rural New Hampshire where there was not much in the way of speciality tea shops, this was a pretty cool concept. I am a big flavored tea fan so I was glad to learn about the place. The wide selection of tea flavors is amazing. I have a really hard time picking one because so many sound so good. I keep finding myself returning there even though it's usually out of the way for me. This month they've had a coconut something-or-other tea of the month and it's really yummy! Yesterday I tried something that was 'watermelon mint crush' iced tea, and again a delish and interesting tea! I've only been there on Saturdays, and service has been excellent each time. I can't speak to how fast or slow service might be at a peak commuting hour, or a midtown weekday lunchtime. As for life in the time of Covid, I do see the couple of employees I have encountered wearing masks each time, wiping down the counter, and it seems as sanitary as any public place can possibly be in this day and age. read more

I love this cute little tea shop. The folks behind the counter spend time with me, letting me sniff all of their gorgeous teas. I always come away with at least one bag or tin and a take-away cup. Last week I found out that they'll do on-the-spot custom blends. My latest purchase was a lovely mint/vanilla/raspberry blend that I'm steeping with a few stevia leaves. Me and my mother stopped by here to see if they sold some special blends. And boy do they! The cost is about average for a tea shop. I paid $10 for my Toasted Almost canister which holds a few oz. They also sell infusers and teapots. I bought 3 silicone tea infusers while I was here because they were only $1 or $2 and because I honestly hate the metal ball ones. They have a few different kinds if you are picky like I am. Other than offering a wide selection of different teas, they also offer free samples, hot and cold, every day. They have a decent menu there as well, though I admittedly did not stop in to enjoy the atmosphere and buy some tea (though I plant to because it is very cozy). The atmosphere is nice, though small. I think you may be able to get 10 people seated, but I'm kind of a claustrophile and like small cozy spaces anyways. The staff was very friendly and helpful, I think it was a mother and daughter team. My experience overall was really great and I will be coming back to restock on my loose-leaf collection ; For anyone looking for a cozy cup of tea, you definitely have my recommendation. The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is because it really is kind of cramped. I may like small 1-3 seater places but I'm trying to be honest and objective about it. I've walked past Too Soul for forever and now I'm sad that I never ventured in before! It is an adorable little shop, with bright colors and fun decor. They have two different outdoor seating areas for enjoying beautiful weather, as well as a few small tables inside. There isn't room for larger groups, but groups of 2 or 3 would have no problem finding a seat. The tea selection here is insane! It's a huge list, all nicely organized into types of tea. They also serve coffee and food! Nothing huge, but I saw a fridge with some food options and they had fruit and snack bars at the counter. There are tea samples available so you can test out a few different flavors when you're looking for something new. The staff was very friendly. I stayed there for quite some time and they were very accommodating during the whole visit. The prices are slightly above average for tea and coffee, but the selection makes up for it.
